답(畓) 유형별(類型別) 생산력(生產力)과 질소반응(窒素反應) (Productivity and Nitrogen Response of Paddy Soils)

  • 전국(全國) 21개소(個所)에서 실시한 수도(水稻)에 대(對)한 질소적량시험(窒素適量試驗) 결과(結果)를 검토(檢討)하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1. 일반품종(一般品種)의 무질소구(無窒素區)와 질소구(窒素區)의 수량(收量)은 다같이 보통답(普通畓)>사질답(砂質畓)>습답(濕畓)의 순(順)이었고 통일품종(統一品種)에서는 무질소구(無窒素區) 수량(收量)은 사질습답(砂質濕畓)>사질답(砂質畓)>보통답(普通畓)=식질습답(埴質濕畓)의 순(順)이었으나 질소구수량(窒素區收量)은 보통답(普通畓)>사질습답(砂質濕畓)>사질답(砂質畓)>식질습답(埴質濕畓)의 순(順)이었다. 즉 통일품종(統一品種)은 사질답(砂窒畓)에서 무비재배(無肥栽培)의 적응력(適應力)이 높다는 특성(特性)을 보여 주었다. 2. 질소(窒素)의 시비응수(施肥應酬)는 보통답(普通畓)에서는 높고 사질답(砂質畓)과 습답(濕畓)에서는 낮았다. 질소(窒素) 1kg당(當) 정조(精租) 생산효율은 통일품종(統一品種)에서 보통답(普通畓) 16.6, 사질답(砂質畓) 10.5, 습답(濕畓) 8.6~11.4kg/10a이고 일반품종(一般品種)에서는 각각(各各) 12.6, 6.3, 6.6~9.3이었다. 3. 사질답(砂質畓)의 벼는 보통답(普通畓)에 비(比)하여 등숙률(登熟率)(일반품종(一般品種)에서) 또는 등숙율(登熟率)과 천립중(千粒重)(통일품종(統一品種)에서)이 모두 높았다. 보통답(普通畓)에서 질소응수(窒素應酬)가 큰 것은 주로 수수(穗數)의 증가(增加)가 크기 때문이었다. 4. 평균(平均) 질소적량(窒素適量)은 통일품종(統一品種)에서 보통답(普通畓) 19.4, 사질답(砂質畓) 14.6, 습답(濕畓) 11.6~13.4kg/10a이고 일반품종(一般品種)에서는 각각(各各) 15.9, 10.2, 8.7~12.7kg/10a이었다. 5. 보통답(普通畓)에서는 생산력이 높을수록 질소적량(窒素適量)도 높아지는 관계(關係)를 보여 주었으나 사질답(砂質畓)과 습답(濕畓)에서는 그러한 관계(關係)가 없었다. 6. 표토중(表土中) $SiO_2$와 OM함량(含量)에 근거한 질소적량(窒素適量) 결정식(決定式)에서 얻은 값과 포장시험(圃場試驗)에서 얻은 실제(實際) 적량치간(適量値間)에는 차이(差異)가 컸으나 두 값간에는 서로 높은 상관관계(相關關係)가 있으므로 질소결정식(窒素決定式)은 품종(品種)과 토양종류(土壤種類)의 요인등(要因等)을 보정(補正)하여 발전(發展)시킬 필요(必要)가 있을 것이다.

휴경답에서의 토양의 이화확적 특성, 주요 영양분 및 잡초종의 변화 (Changes of Physico-chemical Soil Properties, Major Soil Nutrient Contents, and Weed Vegetation in Paddy Fields during Fallow Period)

  • 휴경답에서의 휴경년한에 따른 토양의 이화학적 특성과 주요 영양분의 변화 및 잡초종의 식생 변화를 조사하였다. 휴경년한이 경과할수록 휴경답 토양의 유기물 함량이 증가하였으며 pH는 휴경후 3년까지는 변화가 없었으나 이후로는 다소 증가하였다. 토양의 양이온치환용량 및 치환성 N, K, Ca, Mg의 함량은 휴경후 3년까지는 감소하였으나 휴경년한이 길어지면서 증가하였다. 유효 $P_2O_5$의 함량은 휴경년한이 길어지면서 지속적으로 감소한 반면 유효 $SiO_2$의 함량은 3년까지는 변화가 없었으나 그이후로는 증가하였다. 휴경답에서의 잡초종 구성은 초기에는 화본과, 사초과 및 국화과가 주종을 이루었으며 휴경년한이 경과할수록 마디풀과와 골풀과의 잡초 발생이 증가하는 반면 콩과, 물옥잠과, 닭의장풀과, 바늘꽃과의 잡초 발생이 점차 감소하였다. 그러나 화본과의 사초과의 잡초종은 휴경년한의 경과와는 관계없이 항상 우점종으로 발생하였다. 일반적으로 휴경화가 진전될수록 일년생 잡초종에 비해 다년생 잡초종의 발생 비율이, 또한 논 잡초종에 비해 밭 잡초종의 발생 비율이 높아지는 경향이 뚜렷하였다.

Long-Term Investigation of Regional Topographic Effects on Soil Chemical Properties and Heavy Metal Concentrations in Paddy Fields

  • Topographic conditions of agricultural fields work as a important factor to identify different soil properties. This study was conducted to investigate the selected soil chemical properties and the concentrations of heavy metals, Cd, Cr, Pb, Cu, Ni, and Zn, in the paddy fields of different topographic areas at four year intervals from 1999 to 2011. Three-hundred soil sampling sites in the paddy fields were selected from the different topographic areas that were local valley and fans, fluvio-marine deposits, alluvial plains, and diluvial terraces. The mean values of soil pH ranged 5.7~5.8 that were within optimal range for rice cultivation. The mean values of other properties such as soil organic matter (SOM) content, the concentrations of exchangeable cations, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$, and available silicate concentration were lower or close to the optimal values, but the mean concentrations of available phosphorus were exceeded the range of optimal value, $80{\sim}120mg\;kg^{-1}$, in many paddy fields. In particular, The concentrations of available phosphorus in the paddy fields of local valley and fans, alluvial plains, and fluvio-marine plains were mostly declined. However, in diluvial terrace areas, the phosphorus concentrations unexpectedly increased; furthermore, they were significantly higher than those in other topographic areas. The mean concentrations of 0.1 M HCl-extractable heavy metals, Cd, Cr, Pb, Cu, Ni, and Zn, in the paddy fields were slightly and gradually declined during the study years, but the Pb concentrations were not statistically changed. In addition, the concentrations of heavy metals were widely ranged depending on the different sampling sites. Nevertheless, the concentrations of heavy metals were significantly lower than the levels of Soil Contamination Warning Standard (SCWS) for agricultural lands (1-region) presented in Soil Environment Conservation Law (SECL).

논토양 화학특성 변화와 양분공급력과의 관계 (Dependence of Nutrient Supplying Capacity on Chemical reactions of Paddy Soil)

  • 논토양에서 지속가능한 농업생산 및 환경보호를 위한 양분관리는 토양의 화학반응들에 따른 지표들을 활용하는 것이다. 이 연구는 동일비료 영년시험 결과와 2000년부터 2002년까지 수행된 논토양 유형별 질소수준 시험 결과 등을 토대로 하여, 논토양의 화학작용 및 이와 관련된 양분공급력 지표들을 조사하였다. 논토양의 화학작용은 영양성분의 흡탈착 및 유기물질의 분해를 통한 수소, 전자, 이산화탄소의 생성작용과 이들 물질에 의한 화학작용 등으로 구성되었다. 이러한 토양의 화학작용을 고려한 양분공급력 지표들은 다음과 같았다. 질소의 공급력 지표는 토양유기물 또는 토양단백질이었으며, 인산의 공급력 지표는 유효인산함량이었고, 칼륨의 공급력 지표는 양이온교환용량과 치환성 양이온함량이었다. 한국에서는 논토양의 시비 추천식은 이러한 양분공급력 지표들을 사용하여 설정한 것으로 나타나 환경을 보전하면서 농업생산을 지속적으로 유지할 수 있는 것으로 판단된다.

Relationship between early development of plant community and environmental condition in abandoned paddy terraces at mountainous valleys in Korea

  • In Korea, many paddy fields in mountainous area have been abandoned because of their low accessibility and rice price and the abandoned paddy terraces have changed into natural lentic wetlands. To understand the relationship between characteristics of environmental conditions and early development of plant community in abandoned paddy terraces, we investigated at four well-maintained abandoned paddy terraces in 3 different climatic zones in Korea. Soil texture of abandoned paddy terraces was mostly kinds of loam and electric conductivity of soil was also similar among abandoned paddy terraces. On the other hand, contents of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium in soil were relatively low and significantly different among abandoned paddy terraces. Water depth was different within sites and inter-sites. Although environmental conditions including climate, soil condition and water depth were different among abandoned paddy terraces, the compositions of plant communities were relatively similar in all abandoned paddy terraces. 55 dominant taxa out of 141 recorded species were commonly recorded over sites and they were mostly perennial obligate wetland plants and facultative wetland plants. 8 taxa out of 55 dominant taxa occurred at all abandoned paddy terraces with over 10% coverage. Several site-specific species occurred at site, which have some area with deep water level. This result indicates that early development of plant community in abandoned paddy terraces of similar water regime is similar in the entire area of Korea even though environmental conditions such as climate, biogeographic history and soil are different.

답전윤환 인삼재배 예정지 토양의 물 이동특성 평가 (Assessment on Water Movement in Paddy-Upland Rotation Soil Scheduled for Ginseng Cultivation)

  • This study was conducted to assess water movement in paddy-upland rotation soil scheduled for ginseng cultivation through the measurement of infiltration and permeability of soil water. Soil sample was divided with four soil layers. The first soil layer (to 30cm from top soil) was loamy sand, the second and the third soil layers (30$\sim$70 ㎝) were sand, and the fourth (< 120 ㎝) was sandy loam. The soil below 130 ㎝ of fourth soil layer was submerged under water. The shear strength, which represents the resisting power of soil against external force, was 3.1 kPa in the first soil layer. This corresponded to 1/8 of those of another soil layer and this value could result in soil erosion by small amount of rainfall. The rates of infiltration and permeability depending on soil layers were 39.86 cm $hr^{-1}$ in top soil, 2.34 cm $hr^{-1}$ in 30$\sim$70 ㎝ soil layer, 5.23 cm $hr^{-1}$ and 0.18 cm $hr^{-1}$ in 70$\sim$120 ㎝ soil layer, with drain tile, and without drain tile, respectively. We consider that ground water pooled in paddy soil and artificial formation of soil layer could interrupt water canal within soil and affect negatively on water movement. Therefore, we suggest that to drain at 5 m intervals be preferable when it makes soil dressing or soil accumulation to cultivate ginseng in paddy-upland rotation soil to reduce failure risk of ginseng cultivation.

답토양(畓土壤)의 유기물(有機物) 시용효과(施用效果) (The Effect of Agricultural Wastes on Rice Plant Growth)

  • As in many other country, the use of organic matter in Korea has long history. Farmers understand the value of organic matter as the source of plant nutrient and soil improving agent in general. Since 50 years ago, the sources of organic matter in paddy soils were compost, rice and barly straw, green manure, animal waste, fish and beancake, etc.. Application of green manures such as vetch and chinese milk vetch showed no significant effect on the yield of brown rice in paddy soil. On the other hand, the effects of compost and rice straw showed more significant on the yield of brown rice in paddy soil. Application of rice straw in rice cultivation is commonly made at different times between harvest, early spring and several weeks before transplanting. Considering the suitable paddy soil for application of rice straw under well to moderately well drained soil, the yield was pronounced more than poorly drained soil. Based on laboratory and field experimants, application of rice straw promoted the decrease of oxidation-reduction potential in well to moderately well drained soil. This results to be enhanced the release of some mineral nutrients,. such as potassium, calcium, silicon, and increase of availability of soil phosphorus. In the field experiments, results obtained from nitrogen fraction on the immobilization-mineralization of the tracer nitrogen applied in paddy soil,the amount and index of organic nitrogen incoporated in soil was more pronounced in rice straw application than control. Rice straw and its transformation products incoporated in the soil, provided the inflow of energy necessary to maintain heterotrophic microbes activities. Rice straw and its transformation products, especially soluble carbohydrate, enhanced the population of free-living heterotrophic $N_2$ - fixing microbes. Moreover, rice straw and its transformation products in paddy soil, enhanced the activities of soil enzymes such as dehydrogenase and urease.

순천만 연안 생태계에서 토양의 이화학적 성질에 의한 이산화탄소 호흡 특성 (CO2 Respiration Characteristics with Physicochemical Properties of Soils at the Coastal Ecosystem in Suncheon Bay)

  • This paper was studied $CO_2$ respiration rate with physicochemical properties of soils at wetland, paddy field and forest in Nongju-ri, Haeryong-myeon, Suncheon city, Jeollanam-do. Soil temperature and $CO_2$ respiration rate were measured at the field, and soil pH, moisture and soil organic carbon were analyzed in laboratory. Field monitoring was conducted at 6 points (W3, W7, W13, W17, W23, W27) for wetland, 3 points (P1, P2, P3) for paddy field and 3 points (F1, F2, F3) for forest in 10 January 2009. $CO_2$ concentrations in chamber were measured 352~382 ppm for wetland, 364~382 ppm for paddy field and 379~390 ppm for forest, and the average values were 370 ppm, 370 ppm and 385 ppm, respectively. $CO_2$ respiration rates of soils were measured $-73{\sim}44\;mg/m^2/hr$ for wetland, $-74{\sim}24\;mg/m^2/hr$ for paddy field and $-55{\sim}106\;mg/m^2/hr$ for forest, and the average values were $-8\;mg/m^2/hr$, $-25\;mg/m^2/hr$ and $38\;mg/m^2/hr$. $CO_2$ was uptake from air to soil in wetland and paddy field, but it was emission from soil to air in forest. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in uptake condition increased exponential and linear as soil temperature and soil organic carbon. But, it in emission condition decreased linear as soil temperature and soil organic carbon. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in wetland decreased linear as soil moisture, but its in paddy and forest increased linear as soil moisture. $CO_2$ respiration rate function in all sites increased linear as soil pH, and increasing rate at forest was highest.

Assessing Changes in Selected Soil Chemical Properties of Rice Paddy Fields in Gyeongbuk Province

  • This study was conducted with the data of monitoring on soil chemical properties of rice paddy soils in Gyeongbuk Province. The selected soil chemical properties were analyzed every 4 year from 1999 to 2015. The soil pH measured in 2015 was higher than pH 6.0, which was 0.3-0.4 pH unit higher than data until 2007 survey year. The mean content of organic matter was greater than $24g\;kg^{-1}$ since 2003, but 35% of soil samples remained below the recommended level ($20-30g\;kg^{-1}$) in 2015. The mean concentration of available phosphate was maintained at $40mg\;kg^{-1}$ higher than the upper recommendation level ($80-120mg\;kg^{-1}$), and more than 40% of paddy soils tested were found to have less than the recommendation level during the survey period. The exchangeable K concentration ranged from 0.25 to $0.39cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$. Exchangeable Ca showed an average at the optimum range ($5.0-6.0cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$) during the monitoring period. Exchangeable Mg decreased linearly ($0.02cmol_c\;kg^{-1}\;year^{-1}$) from $1.55cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$ as of 1999 to below the lower level of the recommendation range ($1.5-2.0cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$). The amount of available $SiO_2$ was increased significantly from 2011 to over the recommendation level (${\geq}157mg\;kg^{-1}$). It was revealed that the soil chemical properties of rice paddy fields was influenced by topology, soil texture, type and region as result of principal component analysis or cluster analysis. Therefore, an assessment on chemical properties of rice paddy soils should be performed to consider various soil physical conditions and agronomic practices such as fertilization, cropping system, and so on. Because of the high variability of nutrient levels across Gyeongbuk Province, nutrient management based on soil fertility test is required by respective farm land unit.

경남지역 논토양 미생물 특성과 글로말린 함량 상관관계 (The Relationship between Microbial Characteristics and Glomalin Concentrations in Paddy Soils of Gyeongnam Province)

  • 경남지역 논토양의 글로말린 함량과 미생물 특성과의 관계를 분석하기 위하여 2011년에 20개소를 선정하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 토양 글로말린 함량은 토양 유기물 함량 (r=0.595, p<0.01) 및 탈수소효소 활성 (r=0.663, p<0.01)과 정의상관 관계를 나타냈다. 또한, 글로말린 함량은 미생물 생체 탄소 함량 (r=0.710, p<0.001) 및 총 세균군집 (r=0.616, p<0.01)과 정의상관을 보였다. 그리고 글로말린 함량은 그람음성 세균의 군집 (r=0.561, p<0.05) 및 cy19:0/18:$1{\omega}7c$ (r=0.487, p<0.05)와 정의상관 관계를 나타냈다. 따라서 논토양에서 글로말린 함량은 지속가능한 친환경농업을 위해 토양 건강성의 지표로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
