Overall efficiency enhancement and cost optimization of semitransparent photovoltaic thermal air collector

  • A semitransparent photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) air collector can produce electricity and heat simultaneously. To maximize the thermal and overall efficiency of the semitransparent PV/T air collector, its availability should be maximum; this can be determined through a Markov analysis. In this paper, a Markov model is developed to select an optimized number of semitransparent PV modules in service with five states and two states by considering two parameters, namely failure rate (λ) and repair rate (μ). Three artificial neural network (ANN) models are developed to obtain the minimum cost, minimum temperature, and maximum thermal efficiency of the semitransparent PV/T air collector by setting its type appropriately and optimizing the number of photovoltaic modules and cost. An attempt is also made to achieve maximum thermal and overall efficiency for the semitransparent PV/T air collector by using ANN after obtaining its minimum temperature and available solar radiation.

  • In this paper, a novel utility connected photovoltaic power generation system with unity power factor and uninterruptable power system facility and its control strategy are proposed. The proposed photovoltaic(PV) system is connected in parallel between utility and load. The PV system provides an uninterruptable voltage to load, a maximum power tracking to solar array, and power factor correction to the utility. The proposed system has the following advantages compared with the conventional utility connected PV system. 1. Harmonic elimination Function 2. Feeding the photovoltaic energy to the utility 3. Providing the uninterruptible power source along battery to the load In case that the photovoltaic array system is on the poor power generation, the battery and capacitor of the PV system are charged by three phase utility source and the inverter in the PV system only provides the reactive current to eliminate the harmonic current exited on the utility. In the normal operation mode, the PV system supplies active power to load and reactive power to utility in order to maintain the unity power factor and to regulate ac load voltage.

  • Daylight provides residents with good visual environment. And available daylight in inside provides positive influence on psychological and physiological aspects. Also, sunlight can be converted directly into electricity using PV(photovoltaic) power generation. This study was to analyze characteristics of daylight distributions, calculate an amount of solar radiation and a PV power generation on the building facade using Radiance and Ecotect simulation programs. Ultimately, the purpose of this study is to verify the applicability of Blind PV systems.

  • Total 29 commercial crucifer seed lots were tested for seed transmission of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris by seed washing liquid plating assay. One imported cabbage seed lot was found to carry Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris. Several methods and chemicals for eradication of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris in and on the cabbage seed were tested for effectiveness. Soaking cabbage seed in $3\3%$ hydrogen peroxide solution for 30 minutes effectively eradicated Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris in a naturally infested seed lot. In a field survey, black rot turned out to be an important disease in cabbage in Korea.

  • This paper presents the performance evaluation of PV systems installed at Tibet area of China in order to identity the key factors that determines system operation at a severe climate conditions and promote the cooperation of PV technology between Korea and China. The installed systems consist of 100kW on-grid connected PV systems, BOS(balance of systems), data acquisition and transmission equipments. The Korea side supplied the solar cell, BOS like as inverter, control box and monitoring system. And the Chinese side assembled solar module, constructed site and built control house. It has been shown that the average radiation per monthly from Tibet is 1.5 times larger than that from Mokpo. Also, radiation time from Tibet is 2hour higher than that from Korea. The economical analysis has shown that with the current prices, investment in a grid connected PV systems is generally profitable

Especially protective function test items of 1) Output overvoltage protection test, 2) Output undervoltage protection test, 3) Frequency rise protection test, 4) Frequency fall protection test, 5) System voltage's momentary interruptions, 6) System voltage distortion capability test. Therefore in this paper protective function test item of facilities evaluation detailed standards for new renewable energy, small, medium and large photovoltaic inverter standard is studied and analyzed and finally full tested by PV inverter performance function.

  • This paper compares the operation characteristics of PV(Photovoltaic) system by computer simulation with those of real PV system and the operation characteristics of PV system by computer simulation are evaluated and analyzed considering system parameters of specifications, installation and surrounding conditions etc. From the basis of these results, this study will intend to develop an evaluation, analysis tool and construct database for optimal design of PV system.

  • 본 논문은 PV cell의 전기적 등가회로에 대하여 테브난-노턴 분석방법을 통하여 3개의 대표적인 운전점에서 I-V 특성곡선의 접선의 기울기를 $R_s$$R_{sh}$$R_{MPP}$에 관련되는 값으로써 정량적으로 구하는 방법을 제시한다. 이 값들은 PV cell의 전류방정식에서 파생되는 4원 1차 연립방정식의 경계조건은 만족함으로써 전기적 등가회로의 4가지 요소에 대한 값을 구할 수 있는 길이 열린다. 제안된 방법은 제조사가 datasheet에서 특성을 보장하는 초기 PV cell 제품에 대한 I-V 특성뿐만 아니라, 열화가 진행된 PV cell의 실제적인 I-V 특성을 정확히 시뮬레이션 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.

  • Burkholderia gladioli pv. alliicola CH1 showed typical soft rot symptoms at higher than $20^{\circ}C$ but very weak soft rot symptoms at temperature under $10^{\circ}C$. Among the nine agro-chemicals, oxolinic acid WP, streptomycin + copper hydroxide WP and streptomycin WP were found to be effective for the inhibition of the pathogen in vitro. The results of scanning electron microscopic investigation showed that onion bulbs was macerated by infection of B. gladioli pv. alliicola CH1. B. gladioli pv. alliicola CH1 was able to produce polygalacturonase but did not produce pectin lyase and carboxymethylcellulase. In analysis of the polygalacturonase activity of the isolated pectin-degradation enzymes from B. gladioli pv. alliicola CH1 total protein, three activity bands 45 kDa, 35 kDa, and 29 kDa were detected by the direct (or in-gel) activity staining on SDS-PAGE.

Genetic Differentiation of Pseudomonas syringae Pathovar tomato from Other P. syringae Pathovars using REP-PCR and URP-PCR

  • For the genetic differentiation of $Pseudomonas$ $syringae$ pathovar $tomato$, a total of 51 $P.$ $syringae$ pv. strains infecting 33 different host plants were analyzed using repetitive element PCR(REP-PCR) and universal rice primer PCR(URP-PCR). The entire DNA fingerprint profiles were analyzed using unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic averages (UPGMA). The 51 $P.$ $syringae$ pv. strains could be divided into five clusters based on 65% similarity by Rep-PCR using BOX, ERIC, and REP primers. $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ cluster was well separated from other 31 $P.$ $syringae$ pathovars. $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ cluster included only $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $maculicola$ and $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$. $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ strains could be divided into two genetic groups. Meanwhile, the Pseudomonas pv. strains could be divided into four clusters based on 63% similarity by URP-PCR using 2F, 9F, and 17R primers. $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ cluster was also well separated from 30 other $P.$ $syringae$ pathovars. In this case, $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ cluster included $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $maculicola$, $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $berberidi$, and $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$. $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ strains was also separated into two genetic groups by URP-PCR analysis. Overall, our work revealed that $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ can be genetically differentiated from other $P.$ $syringae$ pathovars by the DNA fingerprint profiles of REP-PCR and URP-PCR. We first report that there are two genetically diverged groups in $P.$ $syringae$ pv. $tomato$ strains.
