In this study, the fire resistance test was carried out with a parameter such as fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio on high strength concrete with 80MPa, and the spalling resistance property was evaluated. Concrete material test was carried out with a parameter such as fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio(0%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.2%) of high strength concrete with 80MPa. Although the flowability and the strength capacity were delicately decreased with a increase of fiber mixed ratio, they satisfied the target limits. As the spalling resistance property after the fire resistance test of 3 hours, the spalling was partly shown on the high strength concrete with fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio of 0% but, wasn't shown on the high strength concrete with fiber(PP+NY) mixed ratio of 0.05% ~ 0.2%.
The fiber reinforced thermoplastics(FRTP) were prepared with polypropylene fiber(PP) as matrix and polyvinyl alchol(VF), aramid(KF) or polyamide fiber(PAF) as the reinforcing materials using the integrated fiber mixing apparatus. The reinforced thermoplastic sheets were prepared by com¬pression molding and their morphology, rheological and mechanical properties were characterized. In the morphological properties of composites, the wettability of the reinforced thermoplastics were decreased in proportion to the content of fibers. At low angular frequency, the viscosity of PAF /PP and VF/PP composite was increased with the content of reinforced fiber. However at high frequency the viscosity of composite reinforced with 5~20wt% fiber, was shown the reduced values which approaches that of the neat matrix. The mechanical properties of the composite were changed with the content of reinforecd fiber, and VF/PP and KF/PP composite had better properties than PAF/PP system.
The fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites(FRTP) were prepared with polypropylene fiber(PPF) as matrix and vinylon(VF), Aramid(KF) or nylon fiber(PAF) as reinforcing materials using the integrated fiber mixing apparatus. The composite sheets were prepared by compression molding and their impact and morphological properties were characterized. VF/PP system showed the maximum value in Izod impact strength, while KF/PP system showed the maximum value in high rate impact properties. Ductility Index(DI) order was VF/PP>KF/PP>PAF/PP. A maximum DI for VF/PP, 2.43, was obtained when the weight fraction of VF was 20%. The optimum amount of the reinforcing organic fiber was found to be 20~30%. As a result, it is concluded that VF/PP system has better interfacial adhesion properties than either KF/PP or PAF/PP.

The present study aims to the use of carboxymenthyl cellulose (CMC) improving the ability of fiber in the dyeing process. Cellulose was extracted from banana leaves by NaOH and then modified by reacting with chloroacetic acid to obtain the carboxymenthyl cellulose. The effect of carboxymenthyl cellulose contents on the mechanical properties and dye absorption were also investigated. Then, CMC were blend with polypropylene (grade 561R) at 1%, 3% and 5% by weight ratio. The fibers were obtained from single screw extruder. The results show that the mechanical properties of the product decreased when increased the amount of CMC in the fiber product. After dyeing, the dye however were absorbed by the CMC-PP fibers more than the original PP fibers. The absorption of dye on the CMC-PP fibers increased significantly with the CMC ratio.

Polypropylene (PP) composites containing conductive multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) and stainless steel short fiber (SSF) were manufactured using a twin screw extruder and characterized their surface resistivity and mechanical properties in this work. Surface resistivity measurements showed that the percolation threshold appeared at a lower MWNT loading when a small amount of SSF was added to PP/MWNT composites. Tensile modulus and strength of the composites increased but elongation-at-break decreased greatly compared to pure PP. Also, the effects of MWNT and SSF on storage modulus and tan ${\delta}$ from dynamic mechanical analysis for the composites were examined, and the morphologies of fractured surface and the fillers were observed using a scanning electron microscope.

The mechanical properties appeared at the concrete mixed with Polypropylene fiber($1kg/m^3$, $3kg/m^3$, $5kg/m^3$) are compared with normal concrete and wire mesh one and evaluated. Achieved slump test to search effect that PP fiber gets to workability, even if the mixing amount of fiber increases, confirmed that slump value is no change almost. The no difference can be caused by hard mixture, but because of the big softness of fiber there is no effect greatly up to PP fiber mixing amount $5kg/m^3$ even with soft mixture. Compressive strengths and flexural strengths of the concretes with PP fiber and without the fiber are appeared almost alike. If examine load resistance ability by PP fiber mixing amount increase, it could know that the increase of fiber mixing amount improves load resistance ability and the toughness index is increased. While normal concrete is broken at the same time with crack, fiber mixed concrete stand in flexure load continuously after crack occurrence. In compare with wire mesh embeded concrete, wire mesh mixed concrete stands in some degree in flexure load by wire mesh crack occurrence and the test piece was broken at the same time. But, it could know that the PP fiber mixed concrete resist continuously to flexure load in bigger displacement.
In mobility industries, the use of thermoplastic composites increased dynamically. In this study, the mechanical and impregnation properties of continuous glass fiber (GF)/polypropylene (PP) composite were evaluated with different GF contents. The GF/PP commingled fiber was manufactured with different GF contents and continuous GF/PP composite was manufactured using continuous compression molding process. Tensile, flexural, and impact test of specimens were evaluated with different GF contents. The fracture behavior of specimens was proved using field emission-scanning electron microscope images of fracture area and impregnation property was evaluated using dynamic mechanical analyzer and interlaminar shear strength. Finally, the GF/PP composite was the optimized mechanical and impregnation properties using 50 wt.% GF/PP commingled fiber.

The synthetic fibers including Polyvinyl alcohol and Polyethylene fibers have been successfully used in the manufacture of high ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composites. Polypropylene (PP) fiber has also been used in composites, not for the purpose of achieving a high level of tensile ductility but to improve the fire resistance performance of concrete exposed to high temperatures. This paper discusses the method for enhancing the performance of composites supplemented with PP fiber. Five types of mixture proportions were designed with high volume fly ash for testing the performance of composites. Type I cement and fly ash F were used as binding materials. The water-to-binder ratio was 0.23~0.25, and the amount of PP fiber used was 2 vol%. Polystyrene bead were also used to increase the tensile ductility of composites. A series of experiments including slump, density, compression and uniaxial tension tests were performed to evaluate the performance of cementitious composites supplemented with PP fiber. From the test results, it was exhibited that the performance of composites supplemented with PP fiber can be enhanced by adopting the mechanics and statistics theory.

This study analyzed fire resistance characteristics of high strength concrete according to changes in curing method and PP fiber content, and the results are as follows. First in case of standard curing, spalling was prevented at PP fiber content of 0.05 % or higher. Autoclave and steam curing showed prevention of spalling at content of 0.1 % or higher. For residual compressive strength, measurement of strength for plain was impossible due to spalling phenomenon. A satisfactory trend was shown with increase in PP fiber content with the strength of about 30 MPa.

This study was performed to prove the possibility of utilizing short plastic fibers made for recycled polyethylene terephthalate (RPET) as a structural material. In order to verify the capacity of RPET fiber, it was compared with polypropylene (PP) fiber, most widely used short synthetic fiber, for fiber volume fraction of 0%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and 1.0%. To measure material properties such as compressive strength, split tensile strength, appropriate tests were performed. Also, to measure the strength and ductility capacities of reinforced concrete (RC) member casted with RPET fiber added concrete, flexural test was performed on RC beams. The results showed that compressive strength decreased, as fiber volume fraction increased. These trends are similarly observed in the tests of PP fiber added concrete specimens. Split cylinder tensile strength of RPET fiber reinforced concrete increased slightly as fiber volume fraction increased. For structural member performance, ultimate strength, relative ductility and energy absorption of RPET added RC beam are significantly larger than OPC specimen. Also, the results showed that ultimate flexural strength and ductility both increased, as fiber volume fraction increased. These trends are similarly observed in the tests of PP fiber added concrete specimens. The study results indicate that RPET fiber can be used as an effective additional reinforcing material in concrete members.
