It is DC power that Output of renewable energy being recently developed and researched. Also, demand of DC power will expect to proliferate due to increase of digital load. Thus, DC distribution system providing high quality of power and reliability has emerged as a new distribution system. If the conventional distribution systems are substituted by proposed DC distribution system, the output of renewable energy can be connected with distribution systems under minimum power conversion. Therefore, in the event of connection with DC load, it can construct an efficient distribution system. In this paper, the integrated parallel operation of power conversion module for DC distribution system is proposed. Also, this paper proposed modularization of power conversion devices for DC distribution system and power control for parallel operation of large capacity system. DC distribution system consists of three power conversion modules such as AC/DC power conversion module 2 set, ESS module 1 set. DC distribution system controls suitable operation depending on the status of the DC power distribution system and load. Integrated operation of these systems is verified by simulation and experiment results.
The reliability of power system components can be affected by a numbers of factors such as the health level of components, external environment and operation environment of power systems. These factors also affect the electrical parameters of power system components for example the thermal capacity of a transmission element. The relationship of component reliability and power system is, therefore, a complex nonlinear function related to the above-mentioned factors. Traditional approaches for reliability assessment of power systems do not take the influence of these factors into account. The assessment results could not, therefore, reflect the short-term trend of the system reliability performance considering the influence of the key factors and provide the system dispatchers with enough information to make decent operational decisions. This paper discusses some of these important operational issues from the perspective of power system reliability. The discussions include operational reliability of power systems, reliability influence models for main performance parameters of components, time-varying reliability models of components, and a reliability assessment algorithm for power system operations considering the time-varying characteristic of various parameters. The significance of these discussions and applications of the proposed techniques are illustrated by case study results using the IEEE-RTS.
In this paper, a power flow simulator, which visualizes power flow and system configuration, is proposed and implemented. Generally, it is necessary to prepare a text file with power-system descriptions, which is one of the barriers for power-flow simulations. The proposed simulator has a function of automatic generations of IEEE common data format files from user-drawn power-system diagrams. Therefore, it is possible for users to carry out simulations only by drawing power system on display. In addition, the proposed simulator also has a function that power-system diagram is illustrated automatically from an IEEE common data format file. By using this function, it is possible to visualize amounts and directions of power flows on the bus-system diagram, which helps users to comprehend network dynamics intuitively. Because the proposed simulator allows including renewable-resource generators in power systems, it is useful to evaluate the power distribution system. It is shown in this paper that the proposed simulator can make IEEE common data format files correctly and illustrate intuitive power flow.
The nuclear power Plant onsite AC electrical power sources are required to supply power to the engineering safety facility buses if the offsite power source is lost. Typically, Diesel Generators are used as the onsite power source. The 125 VAC buses are part of the onsite Class 1E AC and DC electrical power distribution system. The DC power distribution system ensure the availability of DC electrical power for system required to shutdown the reactor and maintain it in a safety condition after an anticipated operational occurrence or a postulated Design Base Accident. Recently, onsite DC power supply system trip occurs the loss of system function. To obtain the performance such as reliability and availability, we analyzed the cause of battery charger trip and described the improvement of DC power supply system reliability. Finally, we provide reliability performance criteria of charger in order to ensure the probabilistic goals for the safety of the nuclear power plants.

Recently, protection coordination issues can occur due to increased fault current in power system when power system being changed radial power system to grid system such as loop power system, micro grid and smart grid. This paper analyzed Recloser-Fuse coordination in loop power distribution system with Superconducting Fault Current Limiters(SFCLs) when single line ground fault occur in loop power distribution system with SFCLs. We analyzed Recloser-Fuse Coordination in radial power distribution system and changed coordination caused by increased Fault current because of loop system when single line ground fault occur in power distribution system. This paper simulated to improve changed coordination using SFCLs in loop power distribution system. Power distribution system, SFCLs and protective devices are modeled using PSCAD/EMTDC.

In this paper, a multi-agent control system for DC-coupled photovoltaic (PV), fuel cell (FC), ultracapacitor(UC) and battery hybrid power system is studied for commercial buildings & apartment buildings microgrid. In this proposed system, the PV system provides electric energy to the electrolyzer to produce hydrogen for future use and transfer to the load side, if possible. Whenever the PV system cannot completely meet load demands, the FC system provides power to meet the remaining load. A multi-agent system based-power management and control algorithm is proposed for the hybrid power system by taking into account the characteristics of each power source. The main works of this paper are hybridization of alternate energy sources with FC systems using long and short storage strategies to build the multi-agent control system with pragmatic design, and a dynamic model proposed for a PV/FC/UC/battery bank hybrid power generation system. A dynamic simulation model for the hybrid power system has been developed using Matlab/Simulink, SimPowerSystems and Stateflow. Simulation results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed multi-agent control and management system for building microgrid.
FACTS technology is developed into the sophisticated system technology which combines conventional power system technology with power electronics, micro-process control, and information technology. Its objectives are achieving enhancement of the power system flexibility and maximum utilization of the power transfer capability through improvements of the system reliability, controllability, and efficiency [1]. As a series and shunt compensator, UPFC consists of two inverters with common dc link capacitor bank. It controls the magnitude of shunt bus voltage and real and reactive power flow of transmission line[2]. In this paper, we present the design, implementation and test results of developed 20kVA level prototype UPFC. It is applied to power system simulator and controls the real and reactive power flow and shunt bus voltage magnitude.

This paper describes the development of KEPCO's 80MVA UPFC electromagnetic transient model and the analysis of its performance in the actual Korean power system. KEPCO's 80MVA UPFC is currently undergoing installation and will be ready for commercial operation from the year 2003. In order to apply a new FACTS device such as the UPFC to the actual power system, the utility needs, in advance, both load flow stability studies and transient studies. Therefore, KEPRI, the research institute of KEPCO, developed a detailed transient analysis model that is based on the actual UPFC S/W algorithm and H/W specifications. This simulation model is implemented by an EMTDC/PSCAD package. The results of the simulation show the effectiveness of UPFC operation in the KEPCO power system.

This paper deals with the development and testing of a large-scale, realtime digital power system simulator for the Korean Electric Power Corporation. The KEPS Simulation Center is located at KEPCO's research center (KEPRI) in Taejon, South Korea and has been operated since September 2001. The KEPS Simulation Center includes a wide range of off line power system simulation and analysis tools, as well as an advanced realtime digital simulator for the study of large scale AC and DC system performance. Because the application scope of the KEPS realtime simulator is broad and because the network models being considered are significantly larger and more complex than in traditional realtime simulator applications, many developments and tests have been required during the course of the project. In this paper, the authors describe some of these developments and present results from various benchmark tests that have been performed.
Ocean structure's power system is difficult to construct a stand-alone power system. Therefore, to manage effectively power system of ocean structure, it's important to construct power system which is connected fuel-cell with hybrid power system. This paper designs power system of fuel-cell for the sea based on hydrogen generation mechanism, calculation of using electric power, etc. Designed power system is analysed & simulated using LabVIEW program. And, this paper suggests design method of power system for ocean structure based on analysed & simulated results.
