Neural Network based Fuzzy Type PID Controller Design (신경 회로망 기반 퍼지형 PID 제어기 설계)

  • This paper describes a neural network based fuzzy type PID control scheme. The PID controller is being widely used in industrial applications. however, it is difficult to determine the appropriate PID gains for (he nonlinear system control. In this paper, we re-analyzed the fuzzy controller as conventional PID controller structure, and proposed a neural network based fuzzy type PID controller whose scaling factors were adjusted automatically. The value of initial scaling factors of the proposed controller were determined on the basis of the conventional PID controller parameters tuning methods and then they were adjusted by using neural network control techniques. Proposed controller was simple in structure and computational burden was small so that on-line adaptation was easy to apply to. The result of practical experiment on the magnetic levitation system, which is known to be hard nonlinear, showed the proposed controller's excellent performance.

  • This paper describes a neural network based fuzzy PID control scheme. The PID controller is being widely used in industrial applications. However, it is difficult to determine the appropriated PID gains in nonlinear systems and systems with long time delay and so on. In this paper, we re-analyzed the fuzzy controller as conventional PID controller structure, and proposed a neural network based self tuning fuzzy PID controller of which output gains were adjusted automatically. The tuning parameters of the proposed controller were determined on the basis of the conventional PID controller parameters tuning methods. Then they were adjusted by using proposed neural network learning algorithm. Proposed controller was simple in structure and computational burden was small so that on-line adaptation was easy to apply to. The experiment on the magnetic levitation system, which is known to be heavily nonlinear, showed the proposed controller's excellent performance.

  • A magnetic levitation system with hybrid magnets, which is composed of permanent magnets and electromagnets, consumes less power than the conventional attraction type system. In this paper, we propose PID controller and PID-Fuzzy controller for hybrid magnet. We first present "constant gap" control technology with PID controller.   • In this paper, we propose a tuning method of PID-PD controller to satisfy design specifications in frequency domain as well as time domain. The proposed tuning method of PID-PD controller consists of the convex set of PID and PI-PD controller. PID-PD controller controls the closed-loop response to be located between the step responses, and Bode magnitudes of closed-loop transfer functions controlled by PID and PI-PD controller. The controller is designed by the optimum tuning method to minimize the proposed specific cost function subject to sensor noise insensitivity and robust stability. Its effectiveness is examined by the case study and analysis.

  • The purpose of Introducing a combined cycle with gas turbine in power plants is to reduce losses of energy, by effectively using exhaust gases from the gas turbine to produce additional electricity or process. The efficiency of a combined power plant with the gas turbine increases, exceeding 50%, while the efficiency of traditional steam turbine plants is approximately 35% to 40%. Up to the present time, the PID controller has been used to operate this system. However, it is very difficult to achieve an optimal PID gain without any experience, since the gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error procedures. This paper focuses on the neural network tuning of the 2-DOF PID controller with a combined 2-DOF parameter (NN-Tuning 2-DOF PID controller), for optimal control of the Gun-san gas turbine generating plant in Seoul, Korea. In order to attain optimal control, transfer function and operating data from start-up, running, and stop procedures of the Gun-san gas turbine have been acquired and a designed controller has been applied to this system. The results of the NN-Tuning 2-DOF PID are compared with the PID controller and the conventional 2-DOF PID controller tuned by the Ziegler-Nichols method through experimentation. The experimental results of the NN-Tuning 2-DOF PID controller represent a more satisfactory response than those of the previously-mentioned two controllers.

  • This paper describes the development of a fuzzy logic control based on PID controller to improve the performances of the control system using conventional PID controller for the cascade process control systems. The structure of the proposed control system consists of two fuzzy-based PID controllers. One is used to eliminate the input disturbances of the inner loop and the other is used to regulate output response of the outer loop. The fuzzy PID design is derived from the linear-time continuous function of the conventional PID controller. The performance of the proposed controller is verified by MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation. Results of simulation studies demonstrates the outstanding of the control system using fuzzy-based PID controller in terms of reduced overshoot and fast response compared with the conventional PID controller.

  • This paper proposes an optimum design method using Teaching-Learning-based optimization for the fuzzy PID controller of Magnetic levitation rail-guided vehicle. Since an attraction-type levitation system is intrinsically unstable, it is difficult to completely satisfy the desired performance through the conventional control methods. In the paper, a fuzzy PID controller with fixed parameters is applied and then the optimum parameters of fuzzy PID controller are selected by Teaching-Learning optimization. For the fitness function of Teaching-Learning optimization, the performance index of PID controller is used. To verify the performances of the proposed method, we use a Maglev model and compare the proposed method with the performance of PID controller. The simulation results show that the proposed method is more effective than conventional PID controller.

High Precision Pressure Control of a Pneumatic Chamber using a Hybrid Fuzzy PID Controller

  • A hybrid fuzzy PID controller for a pneumatic chamber is proposed in this paper. First, a mathematical model of a pneumatic pressure servocontrol system was developed where separate implementations of a PID controller and a fuzzy controller were made. The experimental results using a step input signal revealed that the PID controller accurately controlled the steady-state pressure but did not robustly handle parameter variations in the system while the fuzzy controller provided a fast rise time and low overshoot of the pressure in the system. In order to attain the advantages of both the fuzzy and PID controllers, a hybrid control scheme was developed. The experimental results show that the hybrid fuzzy PID controller proposed in this study does indeed possess the advantages of both PID and fuzzy controllers. Hence, it can be concluded that the hybrid fuzzy PID controller is suited for high-precision control of pressure in a pneumatic chamber.

  • The PID controller design and choosing PID parameters according to system response are proposed in this paper. Here PID controller is employed to control DC motor speed and Matlab program is used for calculation and simulation. Choosing PID parameters are demonstrated by several contrast experiments and a way for setting PID parameters values is discussed.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuzzy PID controller of new method. There are two problems in absolute digital PID controller. First, much calculation time need for obtain the sum of data at each period. Second, this is problem need much memory because to storage every data at the before period. We use the speed type PID digital controller to improvement such problems. In the propose controller doesn't use without adjustment the crisp output error and we doesn't use nile tables in the fuzzy inference process at the forward stage fuzzifier. We inference output member ship function by using the relation and range of two variable of PID gain parameters. We can obtained desired results through the simulation and a experiment of the hydraulic servo motor control system.
