Transient heat transfer of unidirectional (1D) and multidirectional (2D/3D) functionally graded panels

  • This article presents the numerical modelling of transient heat transfer in highly heterogeneous composite materials where the thermal conductivity, specific heat and density are assumed to be directional-dependent. This article uses a coupled finite element-finite difference scheme to perform the transient heat transfer analysis of unidirectional (1D) and multidirectional (2D/3D) functionally graded composite panels. Here, 1D/2D/3D functionally graded structures are subjected to nonuniform heat source and inhomogeneous boundary conditions. Here, the multidirectional functionally graded materials are modelled by varying material properties in individual or in-combination of spatial directions. Here, fully spatial-dependent material properties are evaluated using Voigt's micromechanics scheme via multivariable power-law functions. The weak form is obtained through the Galerkin method and solved further via the element-space and time-step discretisation through the 2D-isoparametric finite element and the implicit backward finite difference schemes, respectively. The present model is verified by comparing it with the previously reported results and the commercially available finite element tool. The numerous illustrations confirm the significance of boundary conditions and material heterogeneity on the transient temperature responses of 1D/2D/3D functionally graded panels.

3D CT Image Processing for 3D Printed Auricular Reconstruction of Unilateral Microtia Patient

  • Purpose Microtia is congenital anomaly of external ear and the reconstruction method for the external ear of microtia patient was based on autogenous costal cartilage framework. The application of 3D printing technique in medical science has made more possibility of human tissue restoration, and we tried to apply this technique in auricular reconstruction field. Materials and Methods As for unilateral microtia patient, the contralateral side ear is normal and reconstructive surgeon tried to mimic it for reconstruction of affected ear. So, we obtained facial CT scan of microtia patient and made mirror image of normal side ear. Moreover, to make the 3D scaffold based on the mirror image of normal ear and to apply this scaffold for the auricular reconstruction surgery, we included auriculocephalic sulcus and anterior fixation part. Results We could successfully obtain mirror image of normal ear, auriculocephalic sulcus and anterior fixation part for 3D scaffold printing. Conclusions Using this CT image processing and 3D printing technique, we will be able to make the scaffold for auricular reconstruction of unilateral microtia patient, and perform auricular reconstruction in near future.

게임 캐릭터 성격 모형의 상대적 중요도에 관한 연구: AHP 분석기법을 중심으로 (A Study on the Relative Importance of Game Character Personality Model: Focused on AHP methods)

  • 게임 캐릭터는 표현과 제작 방식에 따라 성격 디자인의 방향이 달라지므로 요소별 중요도를 반영하여 성격 디자인을 수행할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 게임 캐릭터의 성격 디자인 과정에서 효율적인 의사 결정이 이뤄질 수 있도록 AHP를 통해 디자인요소 13개와 성격요인 13개로 구성된 게임 캐릭터 성격 모형에 대한 중요도를 도출하고, 중요도를 반영하여 게임 캐릭터 성격 디자인 체크툴을 제시했다. 디자인요소에서는 3D 실사풍, 3D 애니메이션풍, 2D 애니메이션풍 모두에서 외양의 중요도가 가장 높게 나타났고 성격요인에서는 3D 실사풍에서 행동, 3D 애니메이션풍에서 외양, 2D 애니메이션풍에서 말이 중요도가 가장 높게 나타났다.

2D-3D 정합기반 실제 제품의 사실적 3D 모델 생성 (Realistic 3D model generation of a real product based on 2D-3D registration)

  • 온라인을 기반한 제품의 구매가 활성화 됨에 따라, 소비자들의 제품 디자인에 대한 사실적이고 정확한 정보를 요구하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 제품의 형상정보(3D mesh)와 색/질감정보(image)를 이용하여 텍스쳐 맵핑된 실사적 3차원 모델을 생성하는 효율적인 방법을 제안한다. 3 차원 형상정보에 대응하는 이미지 상의 텍스쳐 좌표 관계를 구하기 위해 오브젝트 좌표계와 카메라 좌표계 사이의 변환행렬, 카메라의 초점거리, 카메라 CCD 와 프레임상의 이미지 사이의 종횡비를 파라미터로 하는 2D-3D 정합을 수행한다. 이러한 2D-3D 정합에 있어 발생하는 연산의 복잡도와 비선형도를 낮추기 위하여, 카메라 내부파라미터 검정단계, 임의의 회전행렬에 대한 임시적 최적 이동 벡터 (TOTV), 회전행렬에 대한 비선형 최적화 단계로 접근한다. 제안하는 방법의 유용성을 시현하기 위해 3차원 컬러 측정기로는 색외관을 획득하기 힘든 메탈릭 페인트 재질로 이루어진 제품에 적용한 구현결과를 보인다.

  • 3차원 모델링을 위한 방법 중 서로 다른 위치에서 획득한 두 영상으로부터 3차원 거리 정보를 추출하는 스테레오 영상 기법은 매우 유용한 방법이다. 일반적으로 2D 스테레오 영상으로부터 3차원 모델을 생성하기 위해서는 좌측 영상과 우측 영상의 일치하는 화소를 찾는 정합 과정에 의한 변위 추정이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 스테레오 영상의 변위 추정 문제를 해결하기 위해 기존 방법들의 장단점을 고려하여 변위의 정확성과 시간상의 효율성을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 빠른 수행을 위하여 먼저 스테레오 영상에 대하여 웨이블릿 변환을 수행하고 특징점 정합을 통하여 영상에서 기준이 될만한 기준점을 설정한다. 이 기준점은 95% 이상의 매칭 확률을 가지고 있는 점으로 이러한 기준점에 기초하여 영역 기반 방법의 조밀한 변위 추정을 위한 가변 블록 탐색창의 크기 결정과 오정합을 막기 위한 ordering constraint가 적용된다. 이렇게 하여 빠른 수행 시간안에 변위를 추정할 수 있었고, 영역 기반 방법의 문제점이었던 일정 크기의 윈도우를 일률적으로 적용하기 때문에 나타나는 폐색 영역의 문제나 반복 패턴으로 인한 오차를 해결할 수 있었다.

Transfer Learning based Parameterized 3D Mesh Deformation with 2D Stylized Cartoon Character

  • As interest in the metaverse has grown, there has been a demand for avatars that can represent individual users. Consequently, research has been conducted to reduce the time and cost required for the current 3D human modeling process. However, the recent automatic generation of 3D humans has been focused on creating avatars with a realistic human form. Furthermore, the existing methods have limitations in generating avatars with imbalanced or unrealistic body shapes, and their utilization is limited due to the absence of datasets. Therefore, this paper proposes a new framework for automatically transforming and creating stylized 3D avatars. Our research presents a definitional approach and methodology for creating non-realistic character avatars, in contrast to previous studies that focused on creating realistic humans. We define a new shape representation parameter and use a deep learning-based method to extract character body information and perform automatic template mesh transformation, thereby obtaining non-realistic or unbalanced human meshes. We present the resulting outputs visually, conducting user evaluations to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method. Our approach provides an automatic mesh transformation method tailored to the growing demand for avatars of various body types and extends the existing method to the 3D cartoon stylized avatar domain.

Comparative Navigation system for Experiencing 3D Digital Archives of Cultural Heritage

  • We have developed a method that enables a user to better understand and enjoy the contents of 3D digital archives, thereby enhancing the user's experience. The system's interactive interface, built using virtual reality technology, enables the user to "walk through" the archives, comparing two or the same content at different points in time. For example, a user can compare the proposed design for a building with the actual building and can compare the states of restoration of a cultural heritage site over time. This ability to perform multilateral comparisons enables the user to clarify the relationship between contents, the influence of one content on another, and the causal relationship between contents. Testing of a prototype system for a 3D digital archive of cultural heritage sites showed that it worked smoothly and that the users could easily operate the navigation system.

Position Detection of a Scattering 3D Object by Use of the Axially Distributed Image Sensing Technique

  • In this paper, we present a method to detect the position of a 3D object in scattering media by using the axially distributed sensing (ADS) method. Due to the scattering noise of the elemental images recorded by the ADS method, we apply a statistical image processing algorithm where the scattering elemental images are converted into scatter-reduced ones. With the scatter-reduced elemental images, we reconstruct the 3D images using the digital reconstruction algorithm based on ray back-projection. The reconstructed images are used for the position detection of a 3D object in the scattering medium. We perform the preliminary experiments and present experimental results.

동작분석기법을 활용한 골프코칭시스템 개발 (A Development of Golf Coaching using Human Motion Analysis)

  • For years, many studies have mainly been investigated in a complicated human motion analysis. Recently, many motion analysis equipments have been studied and developed. Therefore, the more complex human movement analyses are possible, we have enabled us to perform more and more complicated human movement analyses. A Three-dimensional(3D) motion analysis on of the several methods is a useful tool for analyzing the human motion analysis. The purpose of this study was to develop the 3D human motion analysis using a kalman filter algorithm and a gyro sensor. The algorithm and sensor were used to human motion analysis with high-speed motion capture. In this study, the developed system will be adapted to facilitate golf swing analysis. Using the developed system, golfers and coaches who do not have advanced biomechanical knowledge can easily be used to their golf swing analysis. Future study is necessary for more practical and efficient area such as other sports industries, 3D game industries, rehabilitation training, etc..

A performance Evaluation and Development of 3D Endoscopic Imaging system

  • This paper represents the design of 3D endoscopic video system in order to improve visualization and enhance the ability of the surgeon to perform delicate endoscopic surgery. In comparison of the polarized and electric shutter-type stereo imaging system, The former is superior in terms of accuracy and performance speed for knot-tying and loop pass test. The result of experiments show that the proposed 3D endoscopy system has a wide viewing angle and zone which is necessary for multi-view and it has better image quality and stability of the optical performances than the electric shutter-type does.
