  • 심자도(Magnetocardiography: MCG)는 심장에서 발생하는 자기신호로 크기가 수 pico Tesla에서 수 femto Tesla 정도로 지구 자기에 비하여 $10^{-6}{\sim}10^{-10}$ 정도로 매우 작기 때문에 보통 3층의 차폐 막 구조로 되어 있는 자기차폐실을 사용하여 외부 잡음을 줄인다. 그러나 자기차폐실의 비용이 크기 때문에, 자기차폐실의 비용을 줄이고 다양한 신호처리를 병행하여 신호대 잡음비를 높이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 1Giga FLOPS (FLoating point Operationals Per Second)의 부동 소숫점 연산능력을 가진 TMS320C6701을 사용하여 실시간 신호처리가 가능한 신호처리 시스템을 설계하였다. 개발된 DSP 보드는 PCI-bus 기반으로 설계하여 신호 측정 컴퓨터에 내장이 가능하도록 하였다. 프로그램과 데이터 처리를 위한 외부 메모리를 장착하였고, PCI 콘트롤러를 갖추어 PC 와의 대용량 메모리 공유가 가능하도록 하였다. 제작된 DSP 보드를 사용하여, 심자도 신호에서 실시간으로 적응 잡음 소거 및 필터링을 구현하여 신호대 잡음비의 향상을 확인할 수 있었다.

The Design and Implementation of a Network-based Stand-alone Motion System

  • A motion controller has been used variously in industry such as semiconductor manufacture equipment, industrial robot, assembly/conveyor line applications and CNC equipment. There are several types of controller in motion control. One of these is a PC-based motion controller such as PCI or ISA, and another is stand-alone motion controller. The PC bus-based motion controller is popular because of improving bus architectures and GUI (Graphic User Interface) that offer convenience of use to user. There are some problems in this. The PC bus-based solution allows for only one of the form factors, so it has a poor flexibility. The overall system package size is bigger than other motion control system. And also, additional axes of control require additional slot, however the number of slots is limited. Furthermore, unwieldy and many wirings come to connect plants or I/O. The stand-alone motion controller has also this limit of axes of control and wiring problems. To resolve these problems, controller must have capability of operating as stand-alone devices that resides outside the computer and it needs network capability to communicate to each motion device. In this paper, a network-based stand-alone motion system is proposed. This system integrates PC and motion controller into one stand-alone motion system, and uses CAN (Controller Area Network) as network protocol. Single board computer that is type of 3.5" FDD form factor is used to reduce the system size and cost. It works with Windows XP Embedded as operating system. This motion system operates by itself or serves as master motion controller that communicates to slave motion controller. The Slave motion controllers can easily connect to master motion system through CAN-network.

  • As using of network increases rapidly, performance of system has been deteriorating because of the overhead and bottleneck. Nowadays, High speed I/O network standard, that is a sort of PCI Express, HyperTransport, InfiniBand, and so on, has come out to improve the limites of traditional I/O bus. The InfiniBand Architecture(IBA) provides some protocols to service the applications such as SDP, SRP and IPoIB. In our paper, We explain the architecture of IPoIB (IP over InfiniBand) and its features in channel based I/O network. And so we provide a performance evaluation result of IPoIB which is compared with current network protocol. Our experimental results also show that IPoIB is batter than TCP/IP protocol. For this test, We use the dual processor server systems and Linux Redhat 9.0 operating system.

  • In this thesis, a video tracker with a TMS320C31 DSP is designed and implemented. It is intended to work with PC through PCI Bus and can be used in real-time applications. The DSP board is capable of grabbing image data from camera, and calculating the position of a target, and tracking its movement. The tracking situation can be displayed in a PC monitor and displacement of the movement is fed back to pan and tilt the camera. Experimental results show that the tracker implemented here works well in real applications.

  • This paper presents the implementation of hash functions for IPSEC chip. There is an increasing interest in high-speed cryptographic accelerators for IPSec applications such as VPNs (virtual private networks). Because diverse algorithms are used in Internet, various hash algorithms are required for IPSec chip. Therefore, we implemented SHA-1, HAS-160 and MD5 in one chip. These hash algorithms are designed to reduce the number of gates. SHA-1 module is combined with HAS-160 module. As the result, the required logic elements are reduced by 27%. These hash algorithms have been implemented using Altera's EP20K1000EBC652-3 with PCI bus interface.

  • This paper studies the Internet stream server which serves multimedia stream services such as VoD and MoD. The Internet multimedia stream server is developed to provide 50 users with continuous multimedia stream contents simultaneously. This paper focuses on introducing design concepts, operation details and on evaluating system performance and doing sensitivity analysis with respect to the change of the system components. The performance evaluation is performed using simulation in order to identify the system component that mostly affects the system performance. The sensitivity analysis shows the service delay rates of the multimedia stream server depending on the user's service request pattern. Also, the analysis is made on the utilization rates of the core system components such as the PCI bus and the Ethernet card, and on the system performance change by adding more system components.

  • In this paper, the impact of integrating large number of I/O (Input-Output) and Core power Delivery Network (PDN) on a 6 layers Flip-Chip Ball Grid Array (FCBGA) package is investigated. The impact of core induced supply noise on high-speed I/O interfaces, and high-speed I/O interface's supply noise coupling to adjacent high-speed I/O interfaces' jitter impact are studied. Concurrent stress validation software is used to induce SSO noise on each individual I/O interfaces; and at the same time; periodic noise is introduced from Core PDN into the I/O PDN domain. In order to have the maximum coupling impact, a prototype package is designed to merge the I/O and Core PDN as one while impact on jitter on each I/O interfaces are investigated. In order to understand the impact of the Core to I/O and I/O to I/O noise, the on-die noise measurements were measured and results were compared with the original PDN where each I/O and Core PDN are standalone and isolated are used as a benchmark.

  • In this paper, we propose an architecture of multimedia communication terminal that can e used in broadband ISDN environments. To design and implement the multimedia communication terminal, we analyzed the structure of multimedia terminals and the types of services which is recommended by public and private standard or ganization, such as ITU-T, Digital Audio-Visual Council(davic) and ATM Forum. The multifunctional communication terminal designed in this paper could allow inter-working between existing communication terminals on the heterogeneousnetwork and accept current and advanced multimedia communication application flexible. An implemented terminal is consisted of the multimedia processing board and the ATm interface board that is installed in PCI bus on personal computer. The integrated service multimedia communication terminal that is implemented supports retrieval, distributive and conversational communication service simultaneously. And then we performaned functional module test according to the individual communication services.
