  • A regular logical topology requires little processing time for routing purposes which may be a desirable property for high-speed networks. Asymmetric bilayered ShuffleNet, proposed by us as a logical topology, can be used to a wavelength division multiplexing ring network to increase the network capacity compared to ShuffleNet. In this paper, asymmetric bilayered ShuffleNet is imbedded on a wavelength division multiplexing ring with the objective of minimizing the total number of wavelengths assigned.

  • The popularity of the Internet has affected international politics in many ways; however, it is seemingly overlooked by most scholars, and in particular, realists who view the Internet as low-politics. This article argues that the impact of the Internet on international politics should not be underestimated. By focusing on the capabilities of the Internet in general and P2P networks in particular, this paper shows how the Internet is able to disseminate soft power resources. This is demonstrated by an examination of the dissemination of Japanese soft power resources through BitTorrent. Finally, it is concluded that the Internet is a plausible agent for distributing the resources of soft power; however, once disseminated, soft power resources do not always transform into soft power. In the end, contextual conditions within states always apply.

  • A regular virtual topology requires little processing time for routing purposes which may be a desirable property for high-speed networks. Asymmetric bilayered ShuffleNet, proposed by us as a virtual topology, can be more efficient to be used to design a wide-area optical network compared to ShuffleNet. In this paper, asymmetric bilayered ShuffleNet is imbedded on a given physical topology with the objective of minimizing the total message delay.

  • With the advent and proliferation of the Internet, Electronic Commerce(EC) on the Internet has become one of the most rapidly growing area and has been the subject of much research lately. EC is commercial transactions using computers in virtual environment through computer networks. The computer system deals with various ranges of things such as products, services, and information on EC. In this paper we describe the construction methods of web site based on the personalization, Also, we present the personalization technology and architecture of the P-Commerce proposed in this paper. Finally, we describe the methods constructing EC site using P-Commerce solution.

  • Error-free replication and repair of DNA are pivotal to organisms for faithful transmission of their genetic information. Cells orchestrate complex signaling networks that sense and resolve DNA damage. Post-translational protein modifications by ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins, including SUMO and NEDD8, are critically involved in DNA damage response (DDR) and DNA damage tolerance (DDT). The expression of interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15), the first identified ubiquitin-like protein, has recently been shown to be induced under various DNA damage conditions, such as exposure to UV, camptothecin, and doxorubicin. Here we overview the recent findings on the role of ISG15 and its conjugation to target proteins (e.g., p53,$ {\Delta}Np63{\alpha}$, and PCNA) in the control of cellular responses to genotoxic stress, such as the inhibition of cell growth and tumorigenesis.

  • The increasing number of botnet attacks incorporating new evasion techniques making it infeasible to completely secure complex computer network system. The botnet infections are likely to be happen, the timely detection and response to these infections helps to stop attackers before any damage is done. The current practice in traditional IP networks require manual intervention to response to any detected malicious infection. This manual response process is more probable to delay and increase the risk of damage. To automate this manual process, this paper proposes to automatically select relevant countermeasures for detected botnet infection. The propose approach uses the concept of flow trace to detect botnet behavior patterns from current and historical network activity. The approach uses the multiclass machine learning based approach to detect and classify the botnet activity into IRC, HTTP, and P2P botnet. This classification helps to calculate the risk score of the detected botnet infection. The relevant countermeasures selected from available pool based on risk score of detected infection.

  • Cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) is a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily enzymes in mammals and plays a major role in metabolizing endogenous hormones in the liver. In recent days, CYP1A2 expression has been found in not only the liver but also other tissues including the pancreas and lung. However, little information is available regarding the expression of CYP1A2 in the ovary, in spite of the facts that the ovarian follicle growth and atresia are tightly associated with controls of endocrine hormonal networks. Therefore, the expression of CYP1A2 in the ovaries of prepubertal and pubertal rats was investigated to assess its expression pattern and puberty-related alteration. It was demonstrated that the expression level of CYP1A2 was significantly (p < 0.01) higher in the pubertal ovaries than prepubertal counterparts. At the ovarian follicle level in both groups, whereas CYP1A2 expression was less detectable in the primordial, primary and secondary follicles, the strongly positive expression of CYP1A2 was localized in the granulosa cell layers in the antral and pre-ovulatory follicles. However, the ratio of CYP1A2-positive ovarian follicle was significantly (p < 0.01) higher in the ovary of pubertal group (73.1 ± 3.1%) than prepubertal one (41.0 ± 10.5%). During the Immunofluorescence, expression of CYP1A2 was mainly localized in Fas-positive follicles, indicating the atretic follicles. In conclusion, these results suggested that CYP1A2 expression was mainly localized at the atretic follicular cells and affected by the onset of puberty. Further study is still necessary but we hypothesize that CYP1A2 expresses in the atretic follicles to metabolize residue of the reproductive hormones. These findings may have important implications for the fields of reproductive biology of animals.

  • This paper investigates the performance of interference-limited two-way transmission protocols in the Rayleigh fading channels. New lower bound of outage probability and approximate expression of bit error rate (BER) for three-phase two-way relaying (3P-TWR) protocol are derived in closed-form. These expressions are valid for arbitrary signal-to-noise ratio values, numbers of co-channel interferers and amajority of modulation formats employed in the practical system. Then a comparative study is developed for the performance of three two-way transmission protocols, i.e., direct transmission (DT) protocol, two-phase two-way relaying (2P-TWR) protocol and 3P-TWR protocol based on the asymptotic expressions of outage probability and BER. On the basis of the theoretical results, the thresholds on the strength (variance) of direct channel and target rate for the relative performance of different protocols are obtained and the effect of interferences at the terminal and relay on the relative performance is analyzed. The results present key insights on how to choose proper two-way transmission protocol with the knowledge of fading channels, required date rate and modulation format to optimize the system performance in the practical interference-limited scenarios. Simulation results are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.

  • This paper is focused on the development of the RIVNET1 model, which is a dynamic wave model, for flood analysis in dendritic river networks with arbitrary cross-sections. This model adopted the $-point implicit RDM and utilized a relaxation algorithim in order to solve the governing equations. The double-sweep method was used to reduce the C.P.U. time to solve the matrix system of the model. This model is applied the analyze flood waves of the Ohid river in the U.S.A. and the Keum river in Korea. The results of analysis obtained from this model are compared with those of the DWOPER and observed data.
