염료폐수 분해를 위한 가시광 감응형 Pt-C-TiO2 광촉매의 합성 (Synthesis of Visible-working Pt-C-TiO2 Photocatalyst for the Degradation of Dye Wastewater)

  • $TiO_2$는 금속 산화물의 일종으로서 자체가 가지고 있는 물리화학적 안정성, 무독성, 탁월한 유기물의 산화분해력 등으로 인해 저농도의 환경 유해물질 정화 분야로 응용이 활발히 연구되고 있는 반도체 물질이다. 그러나 $TiO_2$는 자외선 영역대(${\lambda}$ < 387 nm, 태양광의 2.7%가 UV)의 빛을 통해서 활성을 나타내고, 여기된 전자의 빠른 전자-정공 재결합속도로 인해 광 효율이 저하되는 단점을 갖는다. 따라서 광 감응 파장대를 넓히고 재결합속도를 길게 함으로써 광효율을 높이고, 광촉매 활성을 증대하는 방향으로 연구의 초점이 모아지고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 $TiO_2$ 광촉매의 광 감응 파장대를 가시광선 영역으로 확대함과 동시에 여기된 전자와 정공의 재결합시간을 연장하기 위하여 백금(Pt)이 광침적(photodeposition)된 탄소(C) 도핑 $TiO_2$를 제조하였다. 제조한 $Pt-C-TiO_2$의 특성은 전자투과현미경(Transmission Electron Microscopic; TEM), 질소흡탈착법(Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method; BET), X-ray 회절 분석법(X-ray Diffractometer; XRD), 분광 산란 광도계(UV-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy; UV-Vis DRS), X-ray 광전자 광도계(X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy; XPS)를 통하여 살펴보았다. $Pt-C-TiO_2$의 광촉매 활성을 검증하기 위하여 아조 계열의 붉은색 염료인 Acid Red 44 ($C_{10}H_7N=NC_{10}H_3(SO_3Na)_2OH$)의 광분해 실험을 수행하였다. 광원은 Xe arc 램프(300 W, Oriel)를 사용하였으며 420 nm 이하 제거 필터를 사용하여 가시광 영역대의 빛만을 조사되도록 하였다. 그 결과, 제조한 $Pt-C-TiO_2$는 가시광선 하에서 사용제품과 비교하여 월등히 뛰어난 분해력을 보이며 $C-TiO_2$의 활성을 한 층 더 향상시킴을 확인하였다. 이는 무한 에너지 자원인 태양광을 이용한 염료 폐수 정화 시스템 응용으로의 유용한 결과라 할 수 있겠다.

등록문화재 제666호 F-51D 무스탕 전투기 과학적 분석 (Scientific Analysis of National Registered Cultural Heritage 666, Korea's First Fighters used during the Korean War (F-51D))

  • 전쟁기념관에서 소장하고 있는 등록문화재 제666호 F-51D 무스탕 전투기의 과학적 분석을 진행하였다. F-51D 무스탕 전투기는 1950년 6월 25일 전쟁이 발발하자, 7월 2일 우리 공군이 미국으로부터 인수해 최초로 운용한 전투기이다. 전쟁기간 동안 북한군을 상대하여 괄목할 만한 작전을 펼친 한국 공군의 주력기이다. 본 연구 대상은 6·25전쟁 당시 직접 사용된 기체로 현재까지 과학적 조사·분석이 이루어지지 않았으며 차후 해체 및 복원을 계획하고 있다. 지속적인 옥외 전시로 인해 도료층 및 캐노피가 변색되었으며 도료의 박락 및 균열 또한 확인되었다. 비파괴 과학적 분석을 통해 대형유물의 해체 및 복원의 기초 자료로 활용하고자 한다. P-XRF를 사용하여 적색, 청색, 황색, 백색, 흑색, 회색을 중심으로 안료 성분 분석을 진행하였고, 전투기에 사용된 도료의 수지 성분을 확인하기 위해 적외선 분광 분석(FT-IR-ATR)을 하였다. 몸체, 날개, 꼬리날개에 사용된 금속의 성분 분석도 함께 진행하였다. 안료 성분 분석은 적색 산화철인 벵가(Fe2O3), 프탈로시아닌 블루계 등의 유기안료, 황색의 황연(PbCrO4), 백색의 티타늄화이트(TiO2), 흑색의 철흑(Fe3O4), 회색의 철흑(Fe3O4)+티타늄화이트(TiO2)가 확인되었다. 전투기 외부 도장에 사용된 수지는 주로 Alkyd 수지를 사용한 것으로 확인되었으며 청색의 경우 Acryl 수지를 이용하여 도장 한 것으로 추정된다. 전투기 캐노피는 투명성과 내광성이 우수한 Poly methyl methacrylate(PMMA)로 확인되었다. 전투기 몸체, 날개, 꼬리날개에서 모두 알루미늄(Al)이 주성분으로 검출되었다. 꼬리날개부 후면부의 경우 철-아연 도금(함석)이 사용된 것을 보아 과거 복원부인 것으로 판단되었다.

  • Lead oxide based ceramics, represented by PZT, are the most widely used materials for piezoelectric actuators, sensors, and transducers due to their excellent piezoelectric properties. In particular, high-performance multilayered piezoelectric ceramics for advanced electronic components have drawn great attention. In order to develop piezoelectric ceramics capable of being sintered at low temperature for multilayer piezoelectric device applications, the effect of CuO additions on the microstructures and electromechanical properties of the 0.4Pb$(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-0.25PbZrO_3-0.35PbTiO_3$ ceramics was investigated. The samples with CuO addition were synthesized by ordinary sintering technique. X-ray diffractions indicated that all samples formed a single phase perovskite structure. The addition of CuO improved the sinterability of the samples and caused an increase in the density and grain size at low temperature. The optimum sintering temperature was lowered by CuO additions. Excellent piezoelectric and electromechanical responses, $d_{33}$ ~ 663 pC/N, $k_p$ ~ 0.72, were obtained for the samples of high density with 0.1 wt% CuO addition sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 4 h in air. These results show that the piezoelectric properties of PMNZT ceramics can be improved by controlling the microstructure and this system is potentially a good candidate as multilayer piezoelectric device for a wide range of electro-mechanical transducer applications.

고도산화공정(UV공정)을 이용한 NDMA의 효율적인 처리와 독성 평가 (Effective Treatment of N-Nitrosodimethylamine using Advanced Oxidation Process (UV Process) and Toxicity Evaluation)

  • This study investigates the oxidative degradation of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a probable human carcinogen, by advanced oxidation process (i.e., UV process). The experiments were performed with various pH, initial concentration, UV intensity, and addition of $H_2O_2$ or $TiO_2$ on UV process. The results showed that the direct UV photolysis was the most effective treatment method. The lower pH, intial concentration and higher intensity of UV stimulated higher NDMA removal. However, addition of oxidant ($H_2O_2$, $TiO_2$) slows down photochemical treatment of NDMA since the oxidant can filter out the UV light and block it to reach the NDMA molecules. Dimethylamine (DMA) and nitrite were found to be a major byproduct from NDMA oxidation. To evaluate the chronic toxicity effects of UV-treated NDMA on the growth of microalgae, "Skeletonema costatum", was studied as long term experiments. Results demonstrated that after the 13 days exposure the chronic toxicity was decreased about 15% with application of UV process on NDMA degradation.

Fabrication and PTCR Characteristics of Porous Barium Titanate Thermistors using Graphite Powders

  • New porous BaTiO$_3$ thermistors were fabricated using graphite powders (0 to 10 wt. %) and their porosities were in the range of 9.1% to 16.2%. As results of impedance analysis, it was confirmed that the pores affected the grain-boundary resistance and the bulk (grain interior) resistance was constant as about 25 $\Omega$ at room temperature. The magnitude of PTCR effect $(p_{max}/p)$ markedly increased from 3 orders to 7 orders without addition of any acceptor dopant such as Mn or Cr.

  • 0.35. 0.75 및 1.25mol% $MgO-TiO_2$계의 전기전도도가 $600{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$$10^{-8}{\sim}10^{-1}$ atm의 산소분압하에서 측정되었다. 일정한 산소분압하에서 $log{\sigma}$ vs. 1/T은 두 온도구간에서 직선관계를 보였으며 직선의 기울기로 부터 계산된 활성화에너지는 본성 영역과 외성 영역에서 각각 1.94eV 및 0.48eV이다. $log\;{\sigma}$ vs log $Po_2$는 본성 영역에서 ${\sigma}\;{\alpha}\;$Po_2^{-1/6}$이며 외성 영역에서 ${\sigma}\;{\alpha}\;$Po_2^{-1/4}$이다. 이 계의 결함구조는 외성 영역에서 $V\"{o}$이며 본성 영역에서 $Ti^3$.로 제안되었다. 특히 외성 영역에서 polaron model이 ${\sigma}$의 T 및 p 의존성으로 부터 규명되었다.

Piezoelectric Properties of PMN-PNN-PZT Ceramics and the Simulation of Ultrasonic Cleaner

  • In this paper, for the application of ultrasonic cleaners for cleaning dentures and transparent braces, Pb(Mn1/3Nb2/3)O3-Pb(Ni1/3 Nb2/3)O3-Pb(Zr,Ti)O3 [PMN-PNN-PZT] system ceramics were manufactured and their dielectric and piezoelectric properties were investigated. Overall the best properties suitable for the device applications such as ultrasonic cleaner were obtained from the ceramics sintered at 920℃: bulk density of 7.8 g/cm3, the dielectric constant (εr) of 1,689, piezoelectric charge constant (d33) of 433 pC/N, planar electromechanical coupling factor (kp) of 0.64, mechanical quality factor (Qm) of 835, S11E of 13.37 (10-12 N/m2), and Curie temperature of 315℃ By using the physical properties of this composition, the ultrasonic cleaner was designed and simulated using the commercial ATILA software. For the three-layered ceramics with the dimension of 25 mm × 25 mm × 2.5mm, an excellent displacement of 8.998 10-3 m) and the sound pressure of 147.68 dB were recorded.

  • In this study, we chose the basic composition which indicated the best electrical properties by change of x content(0, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25 mol respectively) in xPb(Mn1/3Sb2/3)O3-(1-x)Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 ceramics. And we substituted Cd2+ for Pb2+ site, then observed the sintering behavior, microstructure and electrical propertties according to the various sintering temperature. The basic composition was the 0.05PMS-0.95PZt, and it showed single perovskite phase and excellent properties. In case of Cd2+ substitution, we were able to sinter at 90$0^{\circ}C$ which was lower than conventional sintering temperature(1200~130$0^{\circ}C$). Especially, when the 2mol% substituted PMS-PZT specimens were sintered at 90$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h, we obtained the p=7.6g/㎤, kp=56%, Qm=520 and made sure of a position of Cd2+ substitution by observing lattice parameter, phase transition temperature. From this results, we could infer that because Cd2+ substituted fro A-site, low temperature sintering of Cd2+ substituted PMS-PZT without any loss of electrical properties shows its applicability for the piezoelectric ceramic transformer.

Photocatalytic Decomposition of Gaseous Ozone over $TiO_2$Thin Film

  • The characteristics of heterogeneous photocatalytic decomposition were investigated at low concentration level of $O_3$on TiO$_2$for various operating parameters such as: loaded catalyst weight (0∼4 mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$), initial concentration of $O_3$(0.06∼10.0 ppm), gas flow rate (1.0 ∼ 2.5ι/min), and relative humidity (0∼80%). This study was conducted using a flow-type reactor at room temperature. Three kinds of pure TiO$_2$(P25, ST -01, and E- 23) were employed as photocatalyts. It was found that $O_3$removal ratio was identical, regardless of the loaded TiO$_2$weight in the range from 0.5 to 4.0 mg/$\textrm{cm}^2$. It was also found that higher initial ozone concentration results in greater oxidation rate of ozone and experimental data show kinetically a good agreement with Langmur-Hinshelwood kinetic model. We also observed that the removal ratio of $O_3$increases linearly with the increasing flow rate and also with the increasing relative humidity for each catalyst.

  • Ferroelectric thin films have attracted much attention for applications in nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memories(NVFeRAM) from the view points of high speed operation, low power consumption, and large scale Integration[1,2]. Among the FRAM, BLT is of particular interest. as it is not only crystallized at relatively low processing temperature, but also shows highly fatigue resistance and large remanent polarization Meanwhile, these submicron ferroelectric capacitors were fabricated by a damascene process using Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP). BLT capacitors were practicable by a damascene process using CMP. The P-E hysteresis were measured under an applied bias of ${\pm}5V$ by using an RT66A measurement system. The electric properties such as I-V were determined by using HP4155A analysers.
