  • In recent years, a variety of ITS services are available such as driving information, road conditions, V2X messages as well as navigation and traffic jams notification. The development of ITS services is accelerating by V2X communication technologies for high-speed vehicles. In this paper, WAVE communication devices based on the IEEE802.11p standard is introduced as a solution of V2X communication technologies. The H/W and S/W structures of the WAVE communication device and the characteristics of RF/antenna are described. The performance is evaluated in the test road by measuring throughput, PER and latency. The implemented WAVE communication device has 6~7 Mbps throughput with 10% PER at 1km coverage. The packet latency is less than 3ms for the whole test road. It is shown that the implemented WAVE technology is satisfactory to provide ITS services and Internet video-streaming services.

  • In this paper we consider the following strongly damped wave equation with variable-exponent nonlinearity utt(x, t) - ∆u(x, t) - ∆ut(x, t) = |u(x, t)|p(x)-2u(x, t), where the exponent p(·) of nonlinearity is a given measurable function. We establish finite time blow-up results for the solutions with non-positive initial energy and for certain solutions with positive initial energy. We extend the previous results for strongly damped wave equations with constant exponent nonlinearity to the equations with variable-exponent nonlinearity.

  • In this paper, we have designed and fabricated hyperabrupt varactor diodes. Capacitance variations of hyperabrupt-doped varactor diodes are larger than those of uniform-doped varactor diodes. The measured reverse breakdown voltage of the fabricated varactor diodes was about 20 V. For the anode contact diameter of $50\;{\mu}m$, the maximum capacitance of the fabricated varactor diode was 2.1 pF and the minimum capacitance 0.44 pF. Therefore, the $C_{max}/C_{min}$ ratio was 4.77. Also, for the anode contact diameter of $60\;{\mu}m$, the maximum and minimum capacitances were 2.9 and 0.62 pF, respectively. And, thus, the $C_{max}/C_{min}$ ratio was 4.64.

  • A total of 864 measurements for P- and S- wave velocity of acrylic and stainless steel core samples have been performed with respect to their lengths and axial load applied. S-wave velocity measurement was much harder than P-wave velocity, so that it showed higher deviation in measured S-wave velocity with respect to repeated measurement, length of the cores, and the axial load applied. Velocity measurements for acrylic cores showed more stable and less than half of the variation between the measurements than the stainless steel cores. This seems to be come from better coupling between the transducers and acrylic cores than stainless cores, and from larger value of the first arrival time in a similar system noise environments. From the analysis of the 864 measurements, it is recommended that the length of the core be 60 ~ 90 mm, axial load between 20 kg (27.7 $N/cm^2$) and 30 kg (41.6 $N/cm^2$) for measurement of wave velocity of the acrylic and stainless steel cores. Especially for measuring S-wave velocity of stainless steel core, core length should be less than 50 mm, otherwise it will be affected by mode conversion or others. These results can be used in measurement and correction for system delay in wave velocity measurement for rock cores.

  • The IEEE 802.11p-based wireless access in vehicular environments (WAVE) [1] communication is a method used exclusively for wireless communication on the road. This technique enables information sharing not only among moving vehicles but also between vehicles and infrastructure [2]. As part of WAVE communication, data is transmitted to and from vehicles in motion; in this case, it is difficult to determine the channel accurately in an outdoor environment owing to the Doppler shift [3]. This paper proposes a new channel estimation scheme for enhancing the reception performance of the IEEE 802.11p-based WAVE system. The proposed technique obtains the initial channel value by estimating the least square in the time domain by inserting a pilot signal for channel estimation into the IEEE 802.11p virtual subcarrier. Subsequently, a least mean square algorithm is applied to the initial channel value to update the estimated channel value. The simulation results obtained using the proposed channel estimation technique confirm its remarkable efficiency.

  • We studied the optical characteristics correlated with low dielectric constants of low-k SiOCH thin films through ellipsometry. The low-k SiOCH thin films were prepared by CCP-PECVD method using BTMSM(Bis-trimethylsilylmethane) precursors deposited on p-Si wafer. The Si-O-CHx, Si-O-Si, Si-CHx, CHx and Si-H bonding groups were specified by FTIR spectroscopic spectra, and the groups coupled with the nano-porous structural organic/inorganic hybrid-type of SiOCH thin films which has extremely low dielectric constant close to 2.0. The structural groups includes highly dense pore as well as ions in SiOCH thin films affecting to complex refraction characteristics of single layer on the p-Si wafer. The structural complexity originate the complex refractive constants of the films, and resulted the elliptical polarization of the incident linearly polarized light source of Xe-light source in the range from 190 nm to 2100 nm. Phase difference and amplitude ratio between s wave and p wave propagating through SiOCH thin film was studied. After annealing, the amplitude of p wave was reduced more than s wave, and phase difference between p and s wave was also reduced.

  • In this paper, we designed a diversity modem hardware architecture for IEEE802.11p WAVE and tested the modem on the road with car attached shark antenna. One of the dual channel modem and the diversity single modem with maximum ratio combining algorithm can be selected on the designed architecture. The designed modem have been implemented on the Xillinx Kintex7 FPGA. We tested the modem performance on the smart highway experience road. As experimental results, we can verify the performance of the diversity modem on real road and the enlarged communication range by more than 30%.

  • In this paper, the blow-up rate of $L^2$-norm for the semi-linear wave equation with a power nonlinearity is obtained in the bounded domain for any p > 1. We also get the blow-up rate of the derivative under the condition 1 < p < $1+\frac{4}{N-1}$ for $N{\geq}2$ or 1 < p < 5 for N = 1.

  • The event-related potentials are difined as the changes in voltage that occur at paticular time before, during and after something that happens in the physical world or some psychological processes. The possibilities of clinical applications of ERP are considered because the endogenous potentials such as P3 and contingent negative variation(CNV) are determined by the psychological significance of the stimulus. The P3 is a positive wave that occurs when a subject detects an informative task-relevant stimulus. The P3 amplitude and latency are affected by the various factors as subjective probabilites, stimulus meaning and information transmission. It is suggested that P3 wave is associated with the decision making, cognitive or perceptual closure, memory updating and transfer of information to consciousness etc. Although the intracerebral origin of the P3 wave is not known, the P3 may have multiple intracerebral generators. The CNV is a slow potential shift occuring during the foreperiod, between warning and response signals, in a reaction time experiment. It is related to expectancy, preparation etc. The abnormal findings of P3 wave and CNV in various psychiatric disorders are also discussed.

  • Recently the authors have observed various wave-forms by insertion of induction coil into the scala tympani as well as attached outer device in the outside of the body in damaged hair cells of the cats. In the cochlear nerve. action potential indicated different polarities induced by examination of the bundle of the cochlear nerve fibers. Impulse wave-form as a result of excitation of cohlear nerve fibers showed bipolar wave-form such as negative 1 and positive 1. Therefore action potential showed also bipolar wave-form as above mentioned. We can obtained suitable response with above mentioned outer and inner device as an exact oscillogram.
