The construction of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) boats is decreasing trend since the application of international regulations on the control of marine environmental pollution, which recommended the use of environmentally friendly materials. The aluminum alloy used with material for ship is a superior to FRP. It is environmental friendly, easy to recycle, and provides a high added value to fishing boats. However, the welding for Al alloy materials have many problems, such as deformation by welding heat and effect of the working environment. In this paper, it was carried out welding by robot with welding material of ER5183 and ER5556 on 6061-T6 Al alloy for ship. The mechanical and electrochemical characteristics evaluated for specimen welded by robot. The cathodic polarization trend for the base metal and welding metal showed the effects of concentration polarization due to oxygen reduction and activation polarization due to hydrogen generation. The hardnesses of welding zone and heat affected zone are lower than that of base metal. At the result of tensile test, the specimen welded with ER5183 presented excellent property compared with ER5556.
Friction stir welding is one of the interesting welding methods for titanium and its alloy which proceeds with plastic flow due to thermo-mechanical stirring and friction heat. Solid-state welding can solve severe problems such as high-temperature oxidation, interstitial oxygen diffusion and grain coarsening by liquid-state welding. Dynamic recrystallization and grain refinement can vary significantly with the plunging load and rotational speed of tool during friction stir welding, and suitable process conditions must be optimized to obtain microstructure and better mechanical characteristics. Suitable FSW conditions were 1000 kg of plunging load and 200 rpm of rotational speed and it showed YS 270 MPa, UTS 332.1 MPa, and El 17.3%, which were very similar to those of wrought titanium sheet.

The water purifier market has increased rapidly in recent years. The welding technology of the evaporator is a key component that determines the level of ice production and the cold water performance of an ice purifier. The finger type evaporator of an ice purifier can remove ice and is divided largely into an instant heat method and a hot gas method. In the hot gas type evaporator, particularly during the production process, the pinhole phenomenon inside the copper pipe and clogging problems occur intermittently when welding high-pressure pipes due to the high-temperature oxygen welding. Its use in a water purifier can cause a problem in that ice and cold water do not form, and repairs cannot be made on site. To solve this problem, in this study, a cap jig was applied to improve the welding defect of the hot gas evaporator. In addition, the oxygen welding flame size was adjusted so that the heat source could be well supplied to the cap jig, and the effectiveness was confirmed through a wave pressure test, a test, and a thermal shock test.
In the welding of aluminum, it is important to provide a stable gas shield to exclude not only oxygen, but any sources of hydrogen, from the arc environment. Common sources of hydrogen are humidity in the air around the arc, moisture in the shielding gas, and residual lubricants on the surface of the welding consumable. Since molten aluminum can absorb seventy times more hydrogen than solid aluminum, as the aluminum cools, it releases hydrogen that then becomes trapped in the form of hydrogen bubbles in the solidifying metal.

Welding fume (WF) induces pulmonary disease including pneumoconiosis. To investigate whether reactive oxygen species-induced oxidative DNA damage occurs during welding fume exposure and the upregulation of DNA repair mechanisms is accompanied, SPF SD rats were exposed to welding fumes with the concentrations of 65.6${\pm}$2.9 mg/㎥(low dose) and 116.8${\pm}$3.9 mg/㎥ (high dose) of total suspended particulate for 2 hrs per day in an inhalation chamber for a total of 2hrs, 15 or 30 days.(omitted)
A lot of work is carried out concerning to acicular ferrite formation in the weld metal of high strength and low-alloy steel. Those results are suggesting that oxides that contain titanium elements provides nucleation site of intragranular ferrite, referred as acicular ferrite. Thus, when intragranular ferrite is expected to form in heat-affected zone, oxide containing titanium element should be formed in the steel. However, normal steel is deoxidized by using aluminum element (Al-killed steel) with little oxygen content. It means almost oxygen is deoxidized with aluminum elements. In the present work, in order to form the acicular ferrite in the heat affected zone, with the same concept in the case of weld metal, the steel deoxidized with titanium element (titanium killed-steel) is prepared and the acicular ferrite formation is observed in detail by using laser-conforcal microscopy technique. The confocal technique makes it possible that the morphological change along the phase transformation from austenite to ferrite is in-situ tracked. Thus, the inclusion that stimulated the ferrite nucleation could be directly selected from the observed images, in the HAZ of the Ti-killed steel. The chemical composition of the selected inclusion is analyzed and the nucleation potential is discussed by changing the nucleation site with boron element. The potency for the ferrite nucleation is summarized and the existence of effective and ineffective manganese sulfide for nucleation is made clear.
The properties of GTA weld for ferritic stainless steel have been studied with different $O_2$ contents in Ar shielding gas at the constant welding speed. A small amount of $O_2$ (0.01~1.0%) was mixed in Ar shielding gas in order to improve the weld penetration. The fully penetrated GTA weld was acquired at 160A weld current shielded by pure Ar gas. Addition of oxygen larger than 0.1% made a full penetration at lower weld current than 160A. The small addition of $O_2$ in Ar shielding gas improved the penetration properties of GTA weld because the $O_2$ in the molten pool accelerated the flow of molten pool and changed the flow pattern from outward to inward direction. The impact energy and DBTT (Ductile- Brittle- Transition-Temperature) of the GTA weld shielded by Ar+$O_2$ (less 0.3%) was similar and the corrosion properties of GTA weld was slightly inferior to those of GTA weld shielded by pure Ar gas.
This study presents a treatment of suitable flame retardant through evaluating fire performance after treating flame retardant of fibers for development of welding blanket. The experimental samples used were commercial fibers and we are treated fibers with the flame retardant liquid and the flame retardant paint. The fire performance of the sample was carried out according to the Korea and Japan Standard. As the results of the fire performance experiment, the treated fiber in samples had enough in the performance of flame and fire retardant and the grade of their was from grade A to grade C according to flame and fire retardant standard. The lower oxygen index indicated that all treated samples with the resist are satisfied with international standard. We con-sider that the welding blanket treated with grade A, B and C performance prevents fire spread regardless of the height of work stairs in the case of installation horizontally. Also, it is considered that the welding blanket treated with grade C performance prevents fire spread regardless of the height of work stairs in the case of installation vertically.
