  • It should be noted that current rules and provisions of the law, such as the act of military air base and the act of the construction, do not provide a fairly good solution regarding the conflict between the company and the air force. The act of military air base does not have the jurisdiction on the matters occurring outside the edge of the flight safety zone. Freezing measure about the construction permit is not suitable for this case. A sort of policy or revision of the law will be needed to foster the transaction between parties in question which may be useful for enhancing overall efficiency.

  • Since 1971, the aptitude test for domestic train drivers has long been maintained without any overall change. With the revision of the Railroad Safety Act in 2006. the aptitude test was changed from the type of written and skill test into the type of question-and-answer and reaction test. However, the main structure of the test is being maintained unchanged. In this paper, we focus our attention on the improvement of the present aptitude test. We surveyed on two groups, one is the railroad expert group and another is train driver's group, questioning about the importance of the domestic and foreign aptitude test items. Based on the analysis, we suggest desirable aptitude test system for the railroad safety.

  • Cleft lip lower-lip deformity is a secondary deformity in patients who underwent primary cheiloplasty of the upper lip, characterized by an enlarged and anteriorly rotated lower lip. In these cases, soft-tissue imbalances remain even after skeletal correction with orthognathic surgery, and additional soft tissue treatment is required for lip harmony and esthetic facial balance in CLP (cleft lip palate) patients. This study describes three cases of transverse myomucosal excision of the lower lip for correction of cleft lip lower-lip deformity to restore facial esthetic balance. Each patient underwent orthognathic surgery, rhinoplasty, or upper lip revision cheiloplasty according to condition. Postoperatively, volume of the lower lip decreased and lip harmony was improved in all three patients. The surgeon should fully understand the anatomical structure around the lips and be able to evaluate overall harmony of the soft tissue. When a lower lip deformity is present, careful surgical planning and execution are important for each patient.

  • Purpose: Research on equity carve-outs is necessary because the market has realized that they lead to holding company discounts by double counting, which can only be observed in the Korean market. Considering the differences in the SSG.com equity carve-out compared to previous cases in terms of business strategy, this study contributes to the literature by examining the effects on shareholder value in the Korean distribution industry. Research design, data, and methodology: This study investigated literature, analyst reports, and news articles to examine the causes of holding company discounts and analyze the SSG.com equity carve-out. Results: The monopoly of holding companies' listing premiums is the main cause underlying holding company discounts from equity carve-outs. Protections for minority shareholder value are challenging owing to the complexity of the process of acquiring rights, the short exercise period, and additional costs. Therefore, the motivation for equity carve-outs should be to increase overall shareholder value. Conclusion: By analyzing the reasons for holding company discounts in the Korean distribution industry, this study provides recommendations for improving shareholder value. Moreover, it contributes to the maturation of the Korean capital market by promoting a discussion on the revision of equity carve-outs.

  • This study aims to investigate prejudiced descriptions of adoption and adoptive families in the major textbooks in the field of child and family welfare studies. To this end, we analyzed the compositions and contents of eleven different textbooks and found four necessary changes to recommend: first, we found it essential for authors to have a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of the open adoption culture and adoptive families. Second, we observed the need for the revision of prejudiced terminology found in textbooks' descriptions of adoptive families - about adopters, adoptees, and adoption institutions. Third, we advise an enhancement in the understanding of adoptive families reflecting both qualitative and quantitative understandings of the open adoption culture and perspective about social prejudice against adoptive families. Finally, we advocate for the inclusion adoptive families as one of the diverse forms a family can take, not only in the curriculum of child (children's rights) studies but also in the curricula of other family-related disciplines such as family welfare and healthy family theory. Based on these four changes, we propose a new approach to authoring including a multifaceted review of the subject composition and the content of the major textbooks and revision of the overall contents of the textbooks.

  • Background: Recently, reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) has been accepted as a main treatment option in irreparable massive rotator cuff tear with cuff arthropathy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the early complication incidence and the preliminary clinical results of RTSAs performed in single institute. Methods: Fifty-seven RTSAs (56 patients) were performed between April 2011 and March 2013. The indications for RTSA were cuff tear arthropathy and irreparable massive rotator cuff tear with or without pseudoparalysis. Exclusion criteria were revision, preoperative infections and fractures. At final follow-up, 45 shoulders were enrolled. Mean follow-up duration was 12.5 months (range, 6-27 months). The mean age at the time of surgery was 73.6 years (range, 58-87 years). All the patients were functionally accessed via Constant score, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, pain and functional visual analogue scale (VAS) scores and active range of motion. Complications were documented as major and minor. Major complications include fractures, infections, dislocations, nerve palsies, aseptic loosening of humeral or glenoid components, or glenoid screw problems. Minor complications include radiographic scapular notching, hematomas, heterotopic ossification, algodystrophy, intraoperative dislocations, intraoperative cement extravasation, or radiographic lucent lines of the glenoid. Results: The mean Constant score increased from 31.4 to 53.8 (p < 0.001). The pain and functional VAS scores improved (5.2 to 2.7, p < 0.001, 4.0 to 6.7, p < 0.001) and active forward flexion improved from $96.9^{\circ}$ to $125.6^{\circ}$ (p = 0.011). One or more complications occurred in 16 (35.6%) of 45 shoulders, with one failure (2.2%) resulting in the removal of implants by late infection. The single most common complication was scapular notching (9 [20%]). There were 4 (8.9%) axillary nerve palsies postoperatively (n=3: transient n. palsy, n=1: Symptom existed at 11 months postoperatively but improving). Conclusions: In a sort term follow-up, RTSA provided substantial gain in overall function. Most common early complications were scapular notching and postoperative neuropathy. Although overall early complication rate was as high as reported by several authors, most of the complications can be observable without compromise to patients' clinical outcome. Long term follow-up is required to clarify the clinical result and overall complication rate.

  • The aim here is to analyse the system of description of GIS in all of the high school textbooks passed with the official approval, to find the degree to which teachers understand about GIS, and to consider the present condition of GIS instruction. Most of the authors of textbooks generally underestimate importance of GIS, and there is difference among their awareness. In the system of description of GIS, there are only a few kinds of textbooks in which explanation of GIS is made coherently from the purpose of instruction aim through the chapter summary and to overall test in both of the Korean Geography and the World Geography. This trend is due to the degree of distribution of the GIS specialists in writing a textbook while the other texts books shows just a brief introduction of GIS concept. Although there is the limit for teachers to study how to teach GIS due to its very technological aspect as well as few previous training and teacher's guide. Thus it is evident that about a half of teachers who responded taught high school students without a knowledge on GIS, and a few of them even never referred to that concept. These facts may negatively affect the status of a geography in the society of information. For the solution of these issues, it is considered how to repair the description system and its contents. Besides, the variation among textbooks is reduced at the further revision of the 7th curriculum. And the printed matters of GIS are sufficiently provided for the teachers to use as their teaching aids. It is desirable that the GIS instruction models should be further developed for college education, and the programs for the on-the-job teachers training should be arranged. Besides, the previous training for the on-the-job teachers should be achieved more practically with enough time before the revision of curriculum.

  • This study was attempted to identify the emotional characteristics of temporomandibular disorder patients. The author applied one of the self-report modes of psychological measurement, Symptom Chechlist-90-Revision. The subjects were 219 TM disorder patients who visited the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Oral Medicine, Seoul National University Hospital during the period from December 1985 to September 1986. All the patients were divided into subgroup according sex, age, duration of symptoms, presence or absence of T-scores of each symptom dimension and global index. The obtained result were as follows : 1. Mean value of T-scores of each symptom dimension and global of the overall patients was within normal range. The two higher mean values of T-scores among 9 symptom dimensions were those of SOM and ANX. 2. Mean values of T-scores of females were higher than those of males in the O-C, DEP, ANX, HOS, PSY dimensions and all global indices, and there was a significant difference in the distribution of T-scores of the SOM dimension between males and female(P<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference between the subgroup under 30 years and the subgroup 30 years or older. 4. The subgroup with symptoms for 6 months or longer showed the higher mean values of T-scorers in the SOM, O-C, I-S, DEP, ANX, PHOB, PAR, PSY dimensions and all global indices compared with the subgroup with symptoms for shorter than 6 months. 5. The subgroup with pain showed the higher mean values of T-scores in all the symptom dimensions except the PAR in comparison with the subgroup with other complaints than pain, and there was a significant difference in the distribution of T-scores of the PST index between the pain subgroup and the non-pain subgroup(P<0.05). There was a significant difference in the distribution of T-scores of the PHOB dimension between the high-school graduates subgroup and the college graduates subgroup(P<0.05).
