Enhancement of Blue Emission Efficiency of Organometallic Nanoparticle Containing Germanium (게르마늄을 함유하는 유기금속 나노입자의 청색 발광 효율의 증가)

  • Dihydrotetraphenylgermole has been synthesized from the reduction of dichlorotetraphenylgermole with lithiumaluminiumhydride. UV-Vis absorption and photoluminescence was measured by using UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy. Nanoparticles of dihydrotetraphenylsilole were synthesized from the mixture solution of water and THF. Photoluminescence behavior of organogermanium nanoparticle was investigated at various water fractions. Critical fraction of water to form organogermanium nanoparticles was 60%. Photoluminescence intensity of organogermanium nanoparticle was increased as the concentration of organogermanium nanocolloids increased. Photoluminescence efficiency of organogermanium nanoparticle at 90% water fraction increased about 100 times compared to that of molecular state.

Growth Characteristics and Germanium Absorption of Soybean Sprout Cultured with the Aqueous Solution of Organogermanium (유기게르마늄 수용액으로 재배된 콩나물의 생육특성과 게르마늄 흡수량)

  • In order to cultivate the soybean sprout fortified with organogermanium, we observed growth characteristics and germanium content of soybean sprout watered with the aqueous organogermanium, Ge-132[bis(2-Carboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide)]. Soybean sprout did not show difference in growth when treated with different times and frequencies of organogermanium or different types of germanium. Growth of Orialtae soybean sprout was smaller in diameter of hypocotyledonary axis and longer in total length than that of Danyeob soybean sprout. Three hour's soaking was better in growth than half an boar's treatment. Germanium absorbed by soybean sprout was greater in content in Danyeob soybean sprout than in Orialtae soybean sprout and highest at 20 ppm in water. Prolonged period and increased frequency in treatments with organic germanium resulted in increase of germanium uptake. Germanium content in soybean sprout was greater with treatment of organic germanium than with inorganic germanium.

Acute toxicity of Organogermanium, Ge-132 in Rats and Mice (유기게르마늄(Ge-132)의 랫드와 마우스에 대한 급성경구독성)

  • The acute oral toxicity of organogermanium, Ge-132 was evaluated in rats andmice. The changes of body weight and clinical signs were observed for 14 days after the oral administration of Ge-132, from 0.31 g/kg up to 5 g/kg for SD rats and from 1.25 g/kg up to 5 g/kg for ICR mice. No death and toxic effects were observed for 14 days. The body weight of rats was significantly decreased 1 day after the administration in the maximum dosing group, but the decrease of body weight returned to control level 3 days after dosing. No significant changes in 132. Therefore, Ge-132 has no special toxic effects up to 5 g/kg, and LD* values of Ge-132 Ge-132 are above 5 g/kg in rats and mice.

  • A rapid and accurate determination method of ultra-trace amounts of germanium in spring water by ICP-MS has been developed. Mass number 74 was not only the best mass but also the smallest mass interference. Only 30% of water samples contain germanium more than $0.1{\mu}g/L$, and a few of them has organogermanium species.

  • Block copolymers of the general formula $[(-CO-R'-CO-HN-Ar-NH-CO-R'-CO)_xNH(CH_2)_3-(Me_2SiO)_y(CH_2)_3NH_2]_n$, [n=18.00 to 1175.0] where $R'=CH_2CH(CH_2GeCl_3)$;$CH_2CHGeCl_3CH_2$; and $Ar=-C_6H_4$;$-(o.CH_3C_6H_4)_2$;$-o.CH_3OC_6H_4)_2$;$-(o.CH_3C_6H_4)$ were prepared by a polycondensation reaction of polyamide containing a pendant trichlorogermyl group and terminal acid chloride $Cl(-CO-R'-CO-NH-Ar-NH-CO-R'-CO-)_xCl$ with aminopropyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane $H_2N(CH_2)_3(Me_2SiO)_y-(CH_2)_3NH_2]$, (PDMS). These polymers were characterized by elemental analysis, $T_g$, FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR, solid state $^{13}C$-NMR, and molecular weight determination. The thermal stability of these copolymers was examined using thermal analysis techniques, such as TGA and DSC. Their molecular weights as determined by laser light scattering technique ranged $5.13{\times}10^5$ to $331{\times}10^5\;g/mol$. These polymers display their $T_g$ in the range of 337 to $393^{\circ}C$ with an average decomposition temperature at $582^{\circ}C$.
