  • IT organizations have been consistently required to change in order to cope with business and technological changes. However, the practical methodologies or guidelines about IT organization redesign are deficient. This research investigates IT organization's redesign methods and procedures focused on K public corporation which fundamentally redesigned IT organization recently. In K public corporation, to-be model of IT organization was designed with job analysis for IT organization redesign, task redesign was performed, and IT organization and personnel was assessed. 1) In task analysis, core activities are identified and 96 standard tasks are drawn. 2) with to-be organization design, IT support, IT delivery, IT operation teams and BuKyoung and Jeju teams were divided. 3) Previous job organization was restructured, IT organization personnel were finally confirmed through FTE and internal review. K public corporation strengthened IT planning task instead of reducing operational IT task, improved IT management process which was lower than other companies, and improved IT outsourcing management system and IT users' satisfactions. This research has practical implications for many companies which struggle with IT organization redesign method and process.

  • The fashion industry is considered hazardous and a threatened to the environment. Due the negative perception, the industry should focus on sustainability as a social role. Therefore, several redesign fashion collaborations mainly focusing on renewing abandoned resources are already in place. The research method was based on previous studies, and 3 characteristics were derived: Redesign collaboration between fashion companies, Redesign collaboration between fashion & heterogeneous industries, and Redesign collaboration between the fashion industry & non-profit organizations. Those 3 characteristics were reviewed using 4 criteria. First, to establish and maximize the sustainable brand image and to be the best examples in environmental management, the organization endeavors to collaborate with various industries, institutions, and designers. Second is the expansion of the customer network through the spread of value consumption. Third is the creation of new values through a resource circulation structure. This means that the resource circulation structure system helps the partners to minimize on wastage. Fourth is the spread of de-boundary lines and the possibility of brand growth. Through collaboration with other industries, the boundaries of materials used in the fashion industry started to blur, thus expanding the continuous brand growth potential. The study derived the characteristics of redesign collaboration by systematically analyzing the cases. Further, the study looks forward to analyzing the characteristics of the products processed by redesign fashion collaborations in future research.

  • Despite surging interests in analyzing business processes, there are few scientific approaches to analysis and redesign of organizational structures which can greatly affect the performance of business processes. This paper presents a method for deriving and analyzing organizational relations from process models using social network analysis techniques. Process models contain information on who performs which processes and activities, along with the assignment of organizational units such as departments and roles to related activities. To derive social relations between organizational units from process models, three types of metrics are formally defined: transfer of work metrics, subcontracting metrics, and cooperation metrics. By applying these metrics, various relations among organizational units can be derived and analyzed. To verify the proposed method and metrics, they are applied to standard process models of the semiconductor and electronic, and automotive industry in Korea. This paper presents a taxonomy for diagnosing organization structure based on the presented approach. The paper also discusses how to combine analyses in the taxonomy for redesign of organizational structures.

  • Reengineering, also known as a business process redesign, involves a fundamental rethinking, and often a radical redesign, of an entire business process or a set of process to achieve dramatic improvements. The central paradox of reengineering is that its own advantages constitute the greatest threat to its success. For reengineering to be the right choice, the organization must have real capacities to embrace changes across the board. The key is to begin with, and to preserve, a vision of the new order, which drives this structured approach, and is in turn calibrated by that approach. However, in most cases of these calibrations, the empirical evidences on the effect of determinants in the reengineering are required. Seemingly, the research results in this area are scarcely verified. This article tried to search the effect of four dimensions of the reengineering toward the performance of reengineering. The results showed that the factors of the organization behavior and of the methodology/operation had more affected on the performance.

  • Organization change projects such as Business Process Redesign(BPR) have been implemented by many firms for enhancing their organizational performance. However, management is reluctant to initiate these projects due to enterprise-wide impact and steeper project cost than the traditional system development projects. Thus, there emerges a need to accurately assess the value of the redesigned organizational process for the successful implementation of BPR projects. The purpose of this study is to assess the value of process redesign in the point of resource utilization and allocation, and cycle time and cost reduction. The candidate process and the design alternatives are identified from organizational requirements analysis. The variables and their relations are defined to perform task activity analysis, bottleneck analysis, cycle cost analysis, and resource utilization analysis. A Case study of a manufacturing company indicates that the assessments method proposed in this study is a promising approach to identify the business alternative process that lead to the highest organizational performance.

  • One of challenging issues of market oriented manufacturing organization is product proliferation. However, increasing product variety not only incurs additional direct and indirect production cost, but also aggravates production system performance such as inventory level, customer lead time and fill rate. Recently, as one of the most beneficial strategic choices to menage the risks associateed with product variety and uncertain sales, special attention is focused on the product/process redesign to delayed product differentiation. In this paper, we develop an analytical model to demonstrate the existence of an optimal level of product differentiation, which can be used to provide theoretical basis in establishing market oriented SCM strategy.

Collaboration enables business activities in parallel position among companies and facilitates cooperation between partner enterprises. Lately, the concept of 'Synchronization' is emerging beyond dimension of cooperation between networks, and the most concepts related to it are converging into 'Collaboration Networks'. This research observes a virtual organization as a form of collaborative networks, and measures the degree of virtualization of Korean collaborative organizations.

  • The presidential archives of Participating Government were left as a result of record production innovation. The record proves the whole process of decision making and serves as a means of enhancing transparency and accountability. This article analyzed the existence form of records and asserted the necessity of reorganization. In the direction of the re-organization of records, we proposed a redesign of the record classification system, logical re-registration of records, and description of record detail information. In order to facilitate the use of the archives, the Presidential Archives should proceed with these tasks at the earliest opportunity.
