Purpose - Because creativity, which is an intangible resource embedded within the company, can offer a competitive advantage, most companies have an interest in promoting creativity among their employees and division(e.g., marketing organization). Creativity renders a sustainable competitive advantage to a firm because it is a strategic resource that is valuable, flexible, rare, and imperfectly imitable or substitutable. Although most companies broadly recognize the importance of creativity, the methods for developing creativity remain elusive. Therefore, the present study investigates how to structure incentives to motivate employees to be more creative and how to develop tools to facilitate creativity. In detail, the present study aimed to examine the relationship between the regulatory focus of marketing organizations(e.g., promotion focus vs prevention focus) and creativity of marketing organizations. In addition, the present study set out to examine the moderating role of interaction of financial reward and creative training in addition to investigating the direct relationship between creativity and regulatory focus in New Product Development(NPD) context. Research design, data, and methodology - The data used to test the hypotheses are drawn from a survey of full time NPD project members(including project manager, designer, engineer, and marketer). The present study utilized data obtained mainly from a database compiled by the Korea Investors Service-Financial Analysis System which provides comprehensive corporate and financial information on firms listed on the Korea Stock Exchange. A study population comprising 1,000 South Korean firms was obtained from this database. We selected 864 firms from the database, and the firms have experiences of new product development project. We collected a total of 162 responses, for a 18.8% response rate. After we excluded 14 questionnaire because of incomplete responses, a total of 148 questionnaire remained(final response rate: 17.1%). Results - The empirical study confirmed that promotion focus of marketing organization is positively related to creativity of marketing organization. Also, prevention focus of marketing organization is positively affected to creativity of marketing organization. In addition, the interaction between financial rewards and creativity training moderated the relationship between regularity focus(e.g.), promotion focus vs prevention focus) and creativity of marketing organization. These results suggest that managers can improve the performances of their creative efforts by providing the use of financial rewards and creativity training in combination. Conclusion - Based on results of this study that examine the effects of regulatory focused creative efforts on creativity of marketing organization, promotion focus is helpful with marketing organizations to enhance their service innovation and performance. Prevention focused organization should allow monetary rewards and creativity training to increase their creativity for innovation of new products.
Recently, the rapid change in the technical environment and under global competition, there has been an increasing attention to the creativity among core competency of organization. Particularly, creativity is an initiative for technological innovations and a primary key factor to the success. Systematic understanding towards creativity is required to derive sophisticated creativity. However, previous researches involved in only one or two elements of creativity made it difficult to understand the holistic relations. Furthermore, the objective measurement tool of creativity is insufficient. Therefore, this study analyzes creativity from each level and clarifies the elements that can coordinately measure that. First, the study suggests three levels that compose creativity. Second, the study not only clarifies the factors influencing creativity from each level but also develops the evaluation index. The creativity level assessment model proposed in the study is capable of providing a guide-line that evaluates, and therefore enhance, the organization's competencies and potentials of creativity.
This study empirically investigated the relationships between servant leadership and key variables (knowledge sharing and individual creativity), and the mediating effect of affective commitment with the survey of 213 Korean employees. Based on the sample of 213 employees, the empirical results are as followings; (1) Servant leadership is positively related to affective commitment, knowledge sharing, and creativity. (2) Affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and knowledge sharing. (3) Affective commitment partially mediates the relationship between servant leadership and creativity. In conclusion, this study confirmed that the servant leader and members with the affective commitment may be best qualified for knowledge sharing and creative performance. When employees recognize that their managers follow the characteristics of servant leadership, then the employees are more likely to absorb in their task, which increases creative performance and knowledge accumulation. Based on the results, this study suggests an ample implication for leaders in any organization to boost their relationships with followers and to enhance their knowledge sharing and creative idea for the growth of organization.

This research would review the antecedent study of the superordinate leadership and the employee creativity. The major purpose of this study are theorically and empirically to identify the relationship between the superordinate leadership and the employee creativity. However, this would suggest the direction of the employee creativity development for both the management and the scholars.

Creative performance has been regarded as the key to the success of an organization in recent years, and is considered essential for the survival of an organization. Organizations must find and develop creative solutions to deal with a variety of business issues. How can organizations become more creative? To develop creativity, organizations must make it easier to connect the knowledge and perspectives of its various members, who may be scattered around the world, by developing a virtual team. Drawing from the transactive memory systems (TMS), which include expertise location, credibility, and coordination, this study investigates how the positive affect of team members influences the development of creative performance during virtual collaboration where face-to-face team activities are limited. The proposed structured model was empirically tested with cross-sectional data from 322 individuals. Results indicated that the positive affect of team members was found to moderate the relationship between TMS and creativity. Through this study, we expect to provide an understanding of the mechanisms involved in developing creativity among team members in a virtual work environment.
Purpose - This study examined the relationship between individual creativity and its related variables to observe how individual creativity contributes to organizational performance. In addition, this study strived to explore how to maximize the utilization of individual creativity and innovate the structure of the organization itself so that teams and organizations can respond more effectively to new rising trends. this study aimed to examine whether the value congruence between individuals and organizations (propensity congruence, goal congruence has a significant impact on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior as dependent variables by exerting individual creativity and synergy as independent variables. Research design, data and methodology - SPSS 24.0 program were used to analyze the data. Descriptive Statistics and correlation analysis were performed, and the reliability factor (Cronbach's α) was calculated. Afterwards, we analyzed the moderating effects of structural equation model analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. The number of samples used in the study were 309 copies. Results - First, Individual creativity had a positive effect on knowledge sharing and innovative behavior. In other words, it was confirmed that decision-making processes fused with individual creativity could create an atmosphere of knowledge sharing and transform the organization. Second, value congruence adjusted the influence of individual creativity on knowledge sharing and innovation behavior. Conclusions - First, it is important for managers to recognize the value and secure the pool of creative talents who will be a potential future basic source of organizational success and competitive advantage. Second, managers should be able to identify those with creative talents and expertise, and use them to increase their knowledge sharing performance, while also developing emotional and motivational creativity. Third, in order improve knowledge sharing performance, managers should pay attention to the emotional aspect of creativity. Fourth, managers should strive to create an environment that is beneficial for the reinforcement of individual self-management capabilities. Fifth, managers should be able to develop decision-making processes to develop potential creativity and encourage creative thinking, opinions, or solutions. Sixth, managers should promote the dissemination and integration of new knowledge based on the creative views and attitudes of team members.
The objective of this study is to empirically examine the relationship between creativity and performance in 10 government- funded research institutes of industrial science and technology. In order to analyze the relationship, the institutes are categorized into the high performance group and the low performance group based on research paper and patents The study uses discriminant analysis to identify the factors causing the difference between the two groups. The results show that there is no significant difference of individual creativity between the two groups whereas there is significant difference of group creativity and organization creativity. The study suggests that performance of government-funded research institutes depends on group and organizational creativity.
As a study on the mechanisms by which creativity is improved in an organization, this study tried to verify the serial multiple mediating effects of relational energy and creative process engagement in the effect of leader-member exchange(LMX) on creativity. To test the hypothesis, a survey was conducted on 200 workers in China, and 154 of them were analyzed. The analysis used model 6 of the PROCESS macro. As a result, first, LMX has positive effects on creativity. Second, relational energy mediated the relationship between LMX and creativity. Third, creative process engagement mediated the relationship between LMX and creativity. Forth, relational energy and creative process engagement continuously mediated the relationship between LMX and creativity. Based on these research results, the implications and limitations of this study were presented, and methods to improve creativity in the organization were discussed.
There have been various educational approaches to foster students' creativity in engineering colleges, but little has been conducted based on empirical study results of students' perception on creativity education. This study aims to explore the students' perception on creativity in engineering such as characteristics of creative engineers, the level of individual or group creativity and creative education in engineering colleges. According to the survey results of 538 respondents, engineering students considered three factors such as 'innovative driven', 'eager for high intellectuality', 'activity expression' as characteristics of creative engineer. They evaluated both of individual or group creativity levels as subnormal. They perceived the importance of creativity education, but were not satisfied with current creativity educational experiences. They pointed out 'limited supports of nation or organization', 'credit system decided by the paper-based exam', 'non-systematized creativity classes' as impending factors for creativity in engineering education. Students suggested 'securing the budget for practice and field participation', 'changing of perception on creativity education itself', 'developing the creativity classes combined with engineering subjects' as fostering factors in creativity education. This studdy suggests several implications of educational approaches to creativity education in engineering colleges.
The main purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between communication satisfaction and group creativity. To achieve this purpose, this study has two objectives. First, I will identify the relationship between the satisfaction of communication and idea creation. Second, the relationship between communication satisfaction and problem solving activity will be statistically tested. The major findings of the study can be summarized as follows: First, Statistically significant positive relations were found between the communication satisfaction and idea creation. Especially, sub-construct for supervisor communication$({\beta}=0.14,\;p<.05)$, quality of media$({\beta}=0.13,\;p<.05)$, individual feedback$({\beta}=0.36,\;p<.001)$, organizational prospect$({\beta}0.31,\;p<.001)$ showed the statistically significant positive(+) relationship with construct in idea creation. Second, the measurement of communication satisfaction had showed statistically significant relationship with the problem solving activity. Especially, communication with supervisor$({\beta}=0.21,\;p<.05)$, quality of media$({\beta}=0.21,\;p<.001)$, organizational prospects$({\beta}=0.22,\;p<.001)$, and communication with subordinate$({\beta}=0.37,\;p<.001)$ showed the significant positive(+) relationship with problem solving activity construct. These consequences suggest that communication satisfaction of employee is effective in the improving the group creativity in organization. In the conclusion, this study present the satisfaction factor of employee communication as a incremental factor of group creativity.
