  • The electrochemical performances of an asymmetric hybrid capacitor were investigated using $LiFePO_4$ as the positive electrode and active carbon fibers(ACF) as the negative electrode. The electrochemical behaviors of a nonaqueous hybrid capacitor were characterized by constant current charge/discharge test. The specific capacitance using $LiFePO_4$/ACF electrode turned out to be $0.87F/cm^2$ and the unit cell showed excellent cycling performance. This hybrid capacitor was able to deliver a specific energy as high as 178 Wh/kg at a specific power of 1,068 W/kg.

  • The p-dioxanone can be used to make a variety of commercially useful products particularly where biodegradability is desired, such as fibers, sutures, molded articles, containers, medical devices and surgical clips, film and compostable trash bags. The mole fraction solubility of p-dioxanone in various solvents such as acetone, ethylacetate, tetrahydrofuran, methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol and 1-pentanol were measured over the temperature range from 263.05 K to 288.45 K. The solubility of p-dioxanone increases with increasing polarity of the solvents.

  • With the technological advancement of the construction industry, construction materials with future direction appeared. In Korea, LEFC(Light Emotion Friendly Concrete) has been developed and studied, which has improved labor productivity and economic efficiency over semi-transparent concrete by introducing transparent plastic rods into concrete matrix. However, there is a problem in that the bending performance is lowered according to the insertion of the rod and the bending performance is different according to the light transmission direction. In this study, the incorporation of PVA fibers in the direction of light transmission was increased and the change of flexural performance according to the interval of light transmission was examined.

  • Propargyl alcohol was coupled to 2,4-hexadiyne-1,6-diol (HDD) and crystallized in the process of ultraviolet irradiation-induced topochemical polymerization. The HDD polymer crystals were used as one component in the fabrication of organic photovoltaic cells, in combination with fullerene as the electron acceptor. The various structures of the produced photovoltaic cells included bilayer, trilayer, and bulk heterojunction structures. Their photovoltaic properties were analyzed in relation to crystal structure, electrochemical properties, and band structure of the HOD polydiacetylene polymers.

  • Electrostatic spinning or electrospinning has been recently paid attention to prepare ultrafine fiber mats which are composed of diameters in a range of submicrons to nanoscale size[l]. Due to small diameters and porous structure, electrosun fibers have a high specific surface area and expected to use for broad applications, such as filters, membranes, wound dressing materials, artificial blood vessels. a nonwoven fabric, a reiforcement of nanocomposites[2,3], etc. (omitted)

  • Coating the fibre surface by in situ oxidative chemical polymerisation of polypyrrole (using $FeCl_3$ as oxidant) is a readily industrial applicable way to give electrical properties to wool with good ageing stability [1], although pre-treatments are required to avoid damage of the cuticle surface due to the acidic condition of the process. FT-IR and EDX analysis reveal that organic sulphonates and sulphates, used as dopants, are absorbed by wool, while chlorine ions are preferably embedded on the polypyrrole layer. The resulting electrical conductivity seems mainly due to the presence of chlorine as counter-ion of polypyrrole; nevertheless, the presence of arylsulphonate in the polymerisation bath increases the electrical conductivity of the coating layer.

  • The spontaneous self-organization of amphiphilic molecules into complex aggregates was undoubtedly an important factor in the emergence of life on earth. We study the parameters governing the self-organization of a simple amphiphilic model system using electron cryomicroscopy of ice-embedded specimens in combination with extensive data analysis. Different stable helices can be generated reproducibly by changing the parameters controlling the molecular aggregation process. The repeating units of the helical aggregates in the micrographs can be found by multivariate statistical image analysis techniques, and these two-dimensional projection images suffice for calculating the three-dimensional density distribution of the fibers. We present a typical structure consisting of a narrow stack of compartmented bilayers twisted into a left-handed helix. Our new techniques directly elucidate the three-dimensional structure of helical assemblies, and can complement or replace diffraction-based approaches.

  • Rosin maleic anhydride adduct (RMA)-bisester was prepared by the esterification of chlorinated RMA with hydroquinone. Phenylpyridinylcyclot.isiloxane ($D_3^{Ph,Py}$) was synthesized from phenylpyridinyldichlorosilane in the presence of zinc oxide catalyst, and amino group terminated polyphenylpyridinylsiloxane prepolymer was prepared by equilibrium polymerization of $D_3^{Ph,Py}$ with 1,3-bis(3-aminopropyl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxane. Rosinimide (PSMR) was prepared from the imidization of RMA-bisester with polyphenylpyridinylsiloxane prepolymer at 12$0^{\circ}C$ for 7 h using ${\gamma}$-butyrolactone/pyridine. It showed that PSMR had better thermal stalbility than rosinimide modified with polydimethylsiloxane.

  • In this study, evaluation on weight loss properties of spalling control fiber with heating rates has been conducted. For evaluation of this study, 3types of organic fibers(Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Nylon) are used as spaling control fiber. Also, to evaluate the effect of heating rate to spallin control fiber, heating rates are set as 10, 25℃/min. As a result, the start time of weight loss of fiber with various heating rate was delayed as heating rate was increased.

  • Recently, there are many research for increasing tensile strength of concrete using fiber-reinforced mortar. Especially, the research about the high ductile concrete with fiber-reinforcement which behaves strain-hardening (defined as HPFRCC) is performed while it has the drawback of decreasing workability because of interruption of fibers such as fiber-ball effect. Hence to solve this problem, as a previous research, combination of metal fiber and organic fiber was suggested. Although this research achieved favorable result of workability of HPFRCC, the research scope was concentrated on workability of the mortar. Therefore, in this research, based on the fiber-combination of previous research, the tensile properties is evaluated depending on water-to-binder ratios to obtain improved tensile performance.
