  • Effect of excessive addition of water reducing agent was examined by concrete tests. Water reducing agents of lignin or naphtalene base were used in the experiment. Setting of concrete was retarded according to the increase of dosage of water reducing agent and was extremely delayed at the 3 times or more use of lignin base agent and near 5 times or more use of naphtalene base agent respectively. When water reducing agent was used more than 6 times of standard dosage, early strength of concrete was very low and the strength reduction was very severe at all test ages in the concrete using lignin base agent.

  • A new organic Schiff base compound N-benzylidene-2,5-dichloroaniline (BDC) was synthesized and the structure of the Schiff base is illuminated by some spectroscopic techniques. In addition, whether it is an applicable inhibitor in the industrial field was examined by conventional methods such as linear polarization resistance (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization for different concentrations. The BDC concentration and temperature effects were surveyed for elucidating the inhibitive mechanism. The BDC molecules are adsorbed to surface of mild steel via the Langmuir isotherm. Atomic force (AFM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques were utilized to give insight into surface characterization.

  • Polymer base organic PN junction with various ion types was studied. Low-energy ion implantation technique(~keV) is very useful in physical doping on PPP(Polyparaphenylene) polymer. By double implantation, effective organic PN junction was achieved. The best obtained electrical I-V property was rectification ratio which was about 10000. However, still have problems in low junction current density.

  • Aspects of the scintillation mechanism in organic systems obtained on the base of precise measurements of the radioluminescence pulse shape are discussed. It shown that the process of scintillation light pulse formation is mainly determined by initial conditions of exited states generation.

  • In this study, we intensively investigated the effect of conductive additive amount on electrochemical performance of organic supercapacitors. For this purpose, we assembled coin-type organic supercapacitor cells with a variation of conductive additive(carbon black) amount; carbon aerogel and polyvinylidene fluoride were employed as active material and binder, respectively. Carbon aerogel, which is a highly mesoporous and ultralight material, was prepared via pyrolysis of resorcinol-formaldehyde gels synthesized from polycondensation of two starting materials using sodium carbonate as the base catalyst. Successful formation of carbon aerogel was well confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and $N_2$ adsorption-desorption analysis. Electrochemical performances of the assembled organic supercapacitor cells were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge/discharge, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. Amount of conductive additive was found to strongly affect the charge transfer resistance of the supercapacitor electrodes, leading to a different optimal amount of conductive additive in organic supercapacitor electrodes depending on the applied charge-discharge rate. A high-rate charge-discharge process required a relatively high amount of conductive additive. Through this work, we came to conclude that determining the optimal amount of conductive additive in developing an efficient organic supercapacitor should include a significant consideration of supercapacitor end use, especially the rate employed for the charge-discharge process.

  • Sedimentary organic matter, exposed to continental surficial environment, reacts with oxygen supplied from the atmosphee and forms carbon-containing oxidation products. Knowledge of the rate and mechanisms of sedimentary organic matter weathering is important because it is one of the major controls on atmospheric oxygen level through geologic time. Under the abiological conditions, the oxidation rate of coal organic matter by molecular oxygen is enhanced by the increase of oxygen concentration and temperature. At ambient temperature and pressure, aqueous coal oxidation results in the formation of dissolved $CO_2$ dissolved organic carbon and solid oxidation products which are all quantitatively significant reaction products. The effects of pH, ultraviolet light, and microbial activity on the weathering of sedimentary organic matter are poorly contrained. Based on the results of geochmical and environmental studies, it is believed that the photochemical reaction should play an important role in the decomposition and oxidation of sedimentary organic matter removed from the weathering profile. At higher pH conditions, the production rate of DOC can be accelerated due to base catalysis. These high molecular weight oranic matter can react with man-made pollutants such as heavy metal ions via adsorption/desorption or ion exchange reactions. The effect of microbial activity on the oxidative weathering of sedimentary organic matter is poorly understood and remains to be studied.

  • An organic junction transistor with a vertical structure based on an active layer of poly(3-hexylthiophene) was fabricated by facile micro-contact printing combined with the Langmuir-Schaefer technique, without conventional e-beam or photo-lithography. Direct printing and subsequent annealing of Au-nanoparticles provided control over the thickness of the Au electrode and hence control of the electrical contact between the Au electrode and the active layer, ohmic or Schottky. The junction showed similar current-voltage characteristics to an NPN-type transistor. Current through the emitter was simply controllable by the base voltage and a high transconductance of ~0.2 mS was obtained. This novel fabrication method can be applied to amplifying or fast switching organic devices.

  • Diarylethene in photochromic materials was doped in organic-inorganic hybrid low-melting glasses were synthesized through a nonaqueous acid-base reaction process, which consists of network units including a small number of bridging oxides. The organic phase is a dichlorodimethylsilane while the inorganic phase is a tin(II) chloride. Diarylethene was incorporated into the glasses without any degradation of its functionality. The open form of diarylenthene, which is converted from the opening one upon UV-irradiation, is change to the closed form visible light-irradiation. The rate constant of the photochemical reaction is $31.78\times10^{-3}s^{-1}$ with 400 W UV lamp irradiation.

  • As the result of reviewing the linked treatment of water quality for treating process at public livestock wastewater treatment facilities for fair selection of the proper linked process in case of linking sewage treatment plant for livestock wastewater, in case of wastewater processed by bio-reactor that is only biologically-treated, the load factor showed relatively high as 1.67%(base on design quality), 2.59%(base on operation quality) regarding COD and 3.69%(base on design quality), 7.67%(base on operation quality) regarding $COD_{Mn}$ but it is judged that there is nearly no influence on the operation of sewage treatment plan. And, in case of oxidized flotation-treated water & biofiltlation-treated water that are the advanced wastewater treatment, the load factor is approximately 1% and there is concern about the installation of excessive facilities in case of installing the advanced wastewater treatment. So, in case of considering the economic efficiency & stable operation of sewage treatment plant S, it is judged to be desirable to link with wastewater processed by bio-reactor that is biologically-treated.
