A Novel Transflective-type LTPS-LCD with Cap-Divided VA-Mode

  • A novel transflective-type LC mode with good display performance has been developed In order to drive both transmissive and reflective modes simultaneously without any modulation of gamma in a single-gap structure, we have introduced a new design concept in the reflective region, where the capacitance is separated into liquid crystal($C_{LC}$} and organic layer($C_{OL}$), playing a key role as a voltage divider in our cap-divided VA-mode. With this cap-divided method having both merits of simplifying process and good legibility, we have achieved good optical characteristics such as high contrast ratio and wide viewing angle in a single-gap homeotropic panel design.

층류화염 유동속도 측정을 위한 modulated LII 기법 (Modulated LII technique for the Measurement of Flow Velocity in Laminar Flames)

  • The modulated LII technique has been suggested for the measurement of axial velocity profiles of laminar diffusion flames. The theoretical background is explained based on the blackbody radiation and LII signal. Experimentally, soot particles in ethylene diffusion flames are heated by a modulated Ar-ion laser beam. LII signals and their phase angles are measured using a lock-in amplifier at the different flame heights and the axial flow velocities are obtained from the measured phase angle delay informations. The measured velocities are similar to those from LDV measurements under the same operating conditions. The effects of laser power, LII signal wavelength, and modulation frequencies are not sensitive to the velocity measurement. However, the choice of an optical chopper blade type could affect the measurement result. The use of a 6/5 chopper blade showed the better result that is. possibly due to the square shape of modulated laser beam. This study successfully demonstrated that axial flow velocities of laminar diffusion flames can be measured by a new technique utilizing LII signal, which does not need particle seeding unlikely to LDV or PIV techniques.

회절 역문제로 유도한 변조된 Gauss 동함수에 대한 결상계의 OTF (A modulated Gaussian pupil derived from diffraction inverse problem approach and the characteristics of the OTF of the system)

  • Gauss 초기함수 $e^{-\sigma}$$^{2}$$x^{2}$/에 $e^{-q{\omega}}$$_{0}$ vertical bar x vertical bar를 곱하여 선폭을 더욱 예리하게 하여 역문제(Inverse Problem)로 동함수를 구하고 다시 유한구경에서 결상하는 광파의 회절강도 분포를 구하였다. 이 광학계의 OTF를 구하고 이 값을 변조하지 않은 Gauss 동함수의 (OTF)$_{1.0}$ 의 값과 비교한 결과 변조된 Gauss 동함수의 OTF가 (OTF)$_{1.0}$ 보다 같거나 작음을 보였다. 회절 역문제취급에서 Gauss함수의 선폭을 무조건 예리하게 한다하여 OTF가 향상되지 않는다는 사실을 증명하였다.

소광비, 처핑 및 자기위상변조가 2.5Gbit/s 직접변조한 DFB-LD의 전송성능에 미치는 영향 (The effect of extinction ratio, chirp and SPM on transmission performance of directly modulated 2.5 Gbit/s transmitter)

  • 직접변조한 2.5Gbit/s 송신기에 있어서 DFB-LD에 인가되는 바이어스 전류에 따른 출력 광신호의 소광비와 처핑의 관계를 살펴보았고, 이상분산 영역 전송실험을 통행 변조된 광신호가 8-10dB의 소광비를 가질경우(바이어스 전류가 발진임계전류의 1.5배에서 1.8배) 소광비와 처핑으로 인한 총 전송 패널티가 최소가 됨을 알 수 있었다. 또한 240km 이상분산 영역 전송실험을 통해 직접변조된 광신호의 소광비와 SPM의 상관관계도 분석하였다. SPM을 고려할 경우 본 실험과 같은 구성에서 전송거리가 200km 미만인 경우는 10.2dB의 소광비에서 200km 이상인 경우는 8.4dB의 소광비에서 가장 좋은 수신감도를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 파장가변형 광섬유레이저로 광섬유격자 센서어레이를 복조하는 방법을 제안하였다. 레이저의 출력파장을 시간지연 샘플링으로 분석하고 이를 이용하여 기존 시스템의 비선형적 동작특성을 개선하였다. 계산된 파장값은 센서어레이 출력파평의 각 피크에 할당되어 파장가변필터의 비선형성에 영향받지 않고 가해진 물리량에 대하여 항상 선형적인 출력을 얻게 하였다. 실험을 통하여 약 20 pm의 분해능을 얻었으며 이는 고속의 위상변조를 사용할 경우 크게 개선될 수 있음을 보였다.

Biphasic Tumor Oxygenation during Respiratory Challenge may Predict Tumor Response during Chemotherapy

  • Our previous study showed that switching the inhaled gas from hypoxic gas to hyperoxic gas for 10 minutes increased tumor oxygenation and that the magnitude of oxyhemoglobin increase responded earlier than tumor volume change after chemotherapy. During 10 minutes of inhaled-oxygen modulation, oxyhemoglobin concentration first shows a rapid increase and then a slow but gradual increase, which has been fitted with a double-exponential equation in this study. Two amplitude values, amplitudes 1 and 2, respectively represent the magnitudes of rapid and slow increase of oxyhemoglobin. The trends of changes in amplitudes 1 and 2 were different, depending on tumor volume when chemotherapy started. However, both amplitudes 1 and 2 changed earlier than tumor volume, regardless of when chemotherapy was initiated. These results imply that by observing amplitude 1 changes post chemotherapy, we can reduce the time of a respiratory challenge from 10 minutes to less than 2 minutes, to see the chemotherapy response. We believe that by reducing the time of the respiratory challenge, we have taken a step forward to translating our previous study into clinical application.

Copper Phthalocyanine Field-effect Transistor Analysis using an Maxwell-wagner Model

  • Organic field-effect transistor (FET) based on a copper Phthalocyanine (CuPc) material as an active layer and a $SiO_2$ as a gate insulator were fabricated and analyzed. We measured the typical FET characteristics of CuPc in air. The electrical characteristics of the CuPc FET device were analyzed by a Maxwell-Wagner model. The Maxwell-Wagner model employed in analyzing double-layer dielectric system was helpful to explain the C-V and I-V characteristics of the FET device. In order to further clarity the channel formation of the CuPc FET, optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement was also employed. Interestingly, SHG modulation was not observed for the CuPc FET. This result indicates that the accumulation of charge from bulk CuPc makes a significant contribution.

회전축 정렬불량을 가지는 유연회전디스크의 유한요소법을 이용한 시간응답해석 (Finite Element Analysis for Time Response of a Flexible Spinning Disk with Translating Misalignment)

  • Using the finite element method, this study investigates the dynamic time responses of a flexible spinning disk of which axis of rotation is misaligned with the axis of symmetry. The misalignment between the axes of symmetry and rotation is one of the major vibration sources in optical disk drives such as CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW and DVD drives. Based upon the Kirchhoff plate theory and the von-Karman strain theory, three coupled equations of motion for the misaligned disk are obtained: two of the equations are for the in-plane motion while the other is for the out-of-plane motion. After transforming these equations into two weak forms for the in-plane and out-of-plane motions, the weak forms are discretized by using newly defined annular sector finite elements. Applying the generalized-$\alpha$ time integration method to the discretized equations, the time responses and the displacement distributions are computed and then the effects of the misalign ment on the responses and the distributions are analyzed. The computation results show that the misalignment has an influence on the magnitudes of the in-plane displacements and it results in the amplitude modulation or the beat phenomenon in the time responses of the out-of-plane displacement.

  • The latest vehicle yields a superior safety and reduction of driving burden by monitoring the driving state of vehicle and its environment with various sensors. To detect other vehicles and objects of the rear left and right-side blind spot area of driver, provide the information about a existence of objects inside the blind spot, and give a signal to avoid collision, this study proposes the intelligent outside rear-view mirror system. This study proposes SILS system with PreScan and Matlab/Simulink to verify practical applicability of developed BSDS. PreScan yields realistic driving environments and road conditions and vehicle model dynamics and collision warning is controlled by Matlab/Simulink.

간섭무늬의 변화갯수 측정을 이용한 광섬유 교류전압센서 (Fiber Optic AC Voltage Sensor Using Fringe Counting)

  • 감지부의 PZT tube를 이용한 위상변조기를 연결한 광섬유 Mach-Zehnder 간섭계를 구성하고, 새로운 신호처리 장치를 도입하여 인가교류전압의 주파수에 상관없이 전압의 크기 및 인가전압의 파형을 측정할 수 있는 광섬유 전압센서를 구성하였다. 이 센서에서 전압변화에 따른 간섭무늬 변화갯수의 관계는 선형적 비례관계를 가짐을 관측하였으며, 온도변화에 따른 간섭무늬의 변화갯수를 측정했다. 또한, 간섭계 출력에서 편광변조에 의해 생길 수 있는 간섭무늬의 visibility의 변화를 없애기 위해 편광유지 광섬유를 이용한 간섭계 또는 광섬유 반파장판을 이용할 수 있음을 보였다.
