  • 본 논문에서는 변형 삼각간섭계를 이용한 간섭패턴 생성과 관련한 몇 가지 실험결과를 제시한다. Two-pupil 합성 방법을 이용하여 변형 삼각간섭계의 광전달함수를 합성하고 광전달함수에 내포된 오차에 대한 원인을 분석해 보았다.

  • We demonstrate a simple method to multiply the repetition rate of an optical pulse train by a fiber Fabry-Parot interferometer (FFPI) spectral filtering. A stable 40 GHz pulse train at 1550 nm is successfully generated by removing unwanted spectral components of a 10 GHz actively mode-locked laser source by passing a high finesse FFPI.

  • Inspection and shape measurement of three-dimensional objects are widely needed in industries for quality monitoring and control. A number of visual or optical technologies have been successfully applied to measure three dimensional surfaces. Especially, the shape measurement using an interferometric principle becomes a successful methodology.   • In this paper, radial sheared eletronic shearopgraphy was studied in order to measure vibration characteristics of circular or radial symmetric objects. We calculated amplitude of vibration by using eletro-optic holography theory, and utilized a porror prism for optical arrangement of sheared two images in this experiment. In this case, the data measured by shearing interferometer give us a distribution of the gradient of vibration amplitude. This developed system is applied to symmetical objects such as fans of airconditioner and circular plates to test vibration characteristics.

  • 이중 패브리-페로 간섭계의 구조분석에 대한 분광학적인 방법을 제시하였다. 수 십 GHz의 차이가 있는 두 가지의 진동수의 광선을 이용하여 각 간섭계의 공동거리와 간섭계간의 필요조건에 대한 정밀도 및 측정방법 등에 대하여 이론적으로 조사하였으며 그 결과를 실험으로 확인하였다.

  • 광전류센서는 전자기파 간섭에 영향을 받지 않으며 뛰어난 절연특성을 가지고 있어 발전소와 같은 고전압 대전류 환경에서 운용하기에 적합하다. 하지만, 온도변화와 진동과 같은 외부의 환경변화가 큰 상황에서 운용해야 하므로 센서의 높은 신뢰성이 요구된다. 그 때문에 안정성과 관련된 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 폴리머 광집적회로를 이용한 편광회전반사간섭계를 이용하여 신뢰성을 향상시킨 광전류센서를 제안한다. 여러 가지 독립적인 광소자들을 하나의 칩 상에 집적하여 안정성을 향상시키고 대량생산을 통한 저가격의 광전류센서 제작 가능성을 높였으며, 이를 이용하여 실제 현장에 적용하기 위한 특성평가를 수행하였다. 대전력 공급원을 이용하여 0.3 kA~36 kA 범위의 전류를 광센서에 인가하였을 때 선형적인 동작특성을 볼 수 있었고 센서의 오차는 $0{\pm}.5%$ 이내로 나타났다. 장시간 동작시에도 센서의 오차범위는 $0{\pm}.5%$ 이내로 유지되었다. 또한, 60 Hz~10 kHz 범위에 걸친 주파수 응답 특성 측정 결과 제안된 OCT의 3-dB 주파수 대역은 10kHz를 훨씬 넘는 것으로 확인되었다.

Experimental study on the shear thinning effects of viscosity index improver added lubricant by in-situ optical viscometer

  • Elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) film is measured under the condition of viscosity index improver added to base oil. In-situ optical contact method using the interference principle make the measuring resolution of ~5 nm possible and enables the measuring range all over the contact area of up to ~300 $\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter. What is more important to the developed method by the author is that the measurement of EHL film thickness is possible in the range from 100 nm to 2 $\mu\textrm{m}$, which is the regime of worst contact failures in precision machinery. Viscosity index improver (VII) is one of the major additives to the modem multigrade lubricants for the viscosity stability against temperature rise. However, it causes shear thinning effects which make the film thickness lessened very delicately at high shear rate (over $10^5 s^{-1}$) of general EHL contact regime. In order to exactly verify the VIIs performance of viscosity stability at such high shear rate, it is necessary to make the measurement of EHL film thickness down to ~100 nm with fine resolution for the preliminary study of viscosity control. In this work, EHL film thickness of VII added lubricant is measured with the resolution of ~5 nm, which will give very informative design tool for the synthesis of lubricants regarding the matter of load carrying capacity at high shear rate condition.

Eight-axis-polishing Machine for Large Off-axis Aspheric Optics

  • For the purpose of fabricating off-axis aspheric optics, we propose an 8-axis-polishing machine combined with a testing tower whose height is up to 9 m. The proposed polishing machine was designed and analyzed by using a well-known finite element method. The eight axes of the machine have a synchronized motion generated by a computer, and each axis was calibrated by a heterodyne laser interferometer or an optical encoder. After calibration, the maximum positioning error of the machine was less than 2 ${\mu}m$ within a whole 2 m ${\times}$ 2 m area. A typical fabrication result of a ${\phi}1.5$ m concave mirror was also described in this manuscript.
