The Study of Transmission Performance of Line Code on High Speed Optical Transmission Ethernet (고속 광 이더넷에서 선로 부호에 따른 전송 성능에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, we discuss parameters of line code and simulate a same optical ethernet having minimum bandwidth(MB810) and non-minimum bandwidth line code(8B/10B) to present the possibility of improving of transmission performance using minimum bandwidth line code on the high speed optical ethernet. We design the high speed optical ethernet using Serial type LAN PHY 10GBASE-E(WDM type LAN PHY 10GBASE-LX4) for the single(multi) channel link. To compare the transmission performance of MB810, 8B/10B line code we measure the bit error rate(BER) according to the received optical power of single and multi channel link.

A Study of Optical Property in PDP Using 3D Optical Code (3차원 광학시뮬레이션을 사용한 PDP의 광학적 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study the optical properties, such as relative transmittance and reflectance of PDP were analyzed with 3D optical code. Because of the electrode structure, the reference model shows 21.3 % higher transmittance than the test model and the reference model shows 16.6 % higher reflectance than the test model. The calculated reflectance of reference and test models is compared to the measured reflectance and the difference between calculation and measurement is 4.9 %.

  • In this paper, an optical encryption system using binary key code based on the joint transform correlator (JTC) is considered. The binary key code is synthesized by using a design technique of the pixel-oriented Computer Generated Holograms (CGHs). The independence and efficiency of the binary encryption key are investigated through computer simulation. To test the efficiency of the encryption system using binary key code, a holographic encryption system is constructed, and the experimental results prove that our holographic encryption system has high ability.

  • Mean acquisition time (MAT) is the most important performance measure for code acquisition systems, where a shorter MAT implies a better code acquisition performance. Keshavarzian and Salehi proposed the multiple-shift (MS) algorithm for code acquisition in optical code division multiple access (O-CDMA) systems. Performing two steps acquisition, the MS algorithm has a shorter MAT than that of the conventional serial-search (SS) algorithm. In this paper, we propose a rapid code acquisition algorithm for O-CDMA systems. By using an efficient combination of local signals, correlation value, and the sign of correlation value, the proposed algorithm can provide a shorter MAT compared with that of the MS algorithm. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm presents a shorter MAT than that of the MS algorithm.

  • We have numerically analysed the effects of the light sourer spectral power distortion in an optical CDMA system using PN codes and FBGI for ultra-fast multi-access optical networks. The interference between two CDMA channels decreases with an increase in the code length and the .simultaneous access number is equal to the code length in the region of 0 to 15% spectral power distortion. As a result, the spectral power distortion with optical spectrum is very important in designing the optical CDMA systems.

Serially Concatenated Turbo Code/Turbo Equalizer Detection Method for High Density Optical Storage Channels (고밀도 광 기록 채널을 위한 터보 코드와 터보 등기화를 연접한 데이터 복호 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a serially concatenated turbo bode/turbo equalizer scheme for optical storage systems. Without modulation coding, a random data sequence is directly passed through the optical channel. In simulation, the channel includes jitter of 15% and AWGN. The densities of the channel are S=4.6 and S=7.0. The code rates of turbo code are 4/5, 8/9 and 16/17. All code rates, the bit error probability is less than 10-5 at 24dB when we and jitter of 15%.

  • We studied experimentally a discrete random phase-code multiplexing technique for holographic data storage, which we believe can overcome some disadvantages of conventional random phase-code multiplexing adopting either a diffusion plate or a multimode fiber. Experimental demonstration is presented to show the potential usefulness and some characteristics of the discrete random phase-code multiplexing technique.

Multi-Rate and Multi-BEP Transmission Scheme Using Adaptive Overlapping Pulse-Position Modulator and Power Controller in Optical CDMA Systems

  • We propose a multi-rate and multi-BEP transmission scheme using adaptive overlapping pulse-position modulator (OPPM) and optical power controller in optical code division multiple access (CDMA) networks. The proposed system achieves the multi-rate and multi-BEP transmission by accommodating users with different values of OPPM parameter and transmitted power in the same network. The proposed scheme has advantages that the system is not required to change the code length and number of weight depending on the required bit rate of a user and the difference of bit rates does not have so much effect on the bit error probabilities (BEPs). Moreover, the difference of transmitted powers does not cause the change of bit rate. We analyze the BEPs of the four multimedia service classes corresponding to the com­binations of high/low-rates and low/high-BEPs and show that the proposed scheme can easily achieve distinct differentiation of the service classes with the simple system configuration.

A Study of Optical Properties of Assembled Plasma Display Panel with 3-D Optical Code

  • The optical properties of PDP, such as the transmittance and reflectance, were analyzed with 3D optical code. Three different ITO-less structures in the front panel are examined. In the assembled panel study, the test 1 structure shows 16.6% and 10.2% higher reflectance than the structures of tests 2 and 3, respectively. In order to check the validation of the simulation result, three 7.5-inch test panels having the same geometry and property are fabricated as simulation models. The calculated reflective properties are compared to the measured data from real panels. The relative difference extracted from the simulation and measurement methods is less than 4.9% and are well matched.
