Analysis on Characteristics of Behavior of Thermal Flow According to Operation Conditions of Small-sized Shell and Tube-type Heat Exchanger (소형 쉘앤튜브형 열교환기의 운전 조건에 따른 열유동 거동 특성 해석)

  • The shell and tube-type heat exchanger was the most utilized in industrial field because of its simple structure and wide operation conditions and so on. This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of behavior of thermal flow according to operation condition of small-sized shell and tube-type heat exchanger. The operation conditions, here, were set up to flow rate of hot air with temperature of 100℃, number of baffle and cut rate of baffle(BCR) using numerical analysis. As the results, both mean relative pressure and relative pressure drop was increased with quadratic curve in case of less than BCR 25%, however, decreased linearly in case of more than BCR 25%. The collision with first baffle by flow velocity and temperature, of hot air, respectively, was depended on BCR. Further it showed that the behaviors between flow velocity and temperature were almost similar.

  • By reason of development of anesthesia, advent of new surgical operation type and change of hygiene criterion and economical index is increasing recently request about alteration of existing unit or new surgical operation-unit type. The purpose of this study is to provide of architectural planning program for the type decision and the scale computation of operating-unit in healthcare facilities. As a result of this study, presented program of six type according to surgical operation process including space and time side.

  • A system operating algorithm was developed for the effective operation of a multi-type air-conditioning system. The system operating algorithm includes control algorithms for a safety mode, an initial operating mode, a stabilization mode, a fault diagnosis mode, an efficiency mode, and a tracking mode. Various tests were performed to show the effectiveness of these algorithms. Tests showed good results for the operation of a multi-type air-conditioning system. Therefore, these algorithms developed for this study may be used for the effective control of a multi-type air-conditioning system.

  • This paper contains the selection of operation parameters for protection and control of steam turbine in a Korea Standard Type Nuclear Power Plant. The safety of nuclear reactor must be ensured which generates nuclear energy and produces steam. Also, the safety of turbine, which consume the nuclear energy as a core machine, must be ensured. For the purpose of this, we describe how the operating parameters were selected, reviewed, implemented into the operator console and finally put into actual operation of the system.

  • Many years ago, most of thermal power plants built in this country were of subcritical pressure, of medium or small size, of constant pressure operations and of drum type steam generators with circulation type boilers. But, nowadays almost all of them were of high efficiency, of supercritical pressure, of big capacity, of sliding pressure operations, and of once through type steam generator. It has such advantage as the reduction of startup duration, but it control system and operation method are very complicated. It has a big difference in operation method of turbine and boiler. The feedforward control needs to be introduced to prevent such problems as thermal shock during the transit from normal operation into bypass operation. This paper introduces the turbine control and turbine bypass control during startup of thermal power plants.

  • With the purpose of labour reduction in tea plucking operation with portable type machine, the influence of frame angles and tea leaves weight on the grasping forces of each finger were investigated. At the measurement of the grasping force of each finger except for thumb, grip strength dynamometers were attached at the grasping position of the frame instead of handle grips. A series of measurement was carried out changing frame angles of the tea plucking machine and the weight of tea leaves. With the obtained results of the experiments , the influences of the frame angles and the weight of the tea leaves on the grasping forces of each finger were analyzed. Some reasonable suggestions for the labour reduction in the tea plucking operation with portable type machine were obtained in the aspect of normalizing the balance of the grasping force on each finger and these suggestions are expected to contribute the labour reduction of the tea plucking operation.

A Study on Effective Energy Use of the Open Type Ground Heat Exchanger Using Underground Temperature Gradient (지중온도 경사를 이용한 효율적 지중에너지 이용 방안에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes an optimum operation method for open type ground heat exchangers. A series of TRTs and artificial heating/cooling operations were carried out while monitoring temperature in the hole of SCW. The ground temperature naturally increases with depth, but a switch between the cooling/heating mode results in a change in the distribution of ground temperature. The effect of the mode change was evaluated by performing LMTD and COMSOL multiphysics analysis for a reduced model with the depth of 150 m. As a result, in the cooling mode, the upstream operation is more efficient than the downstream operation and reduces EWT by $2.26^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, in the heating mode, the downstream operation is advantageous over the upstream operation and increases EWT by $3.19^{\circ}C$. The merit of the optimum operation will be enhanced for the typical dimension of SCW with a depth of 400~500 m. In the future, an open type ground heat exchanger system adopting the optimum operation with variation in the ground temperature will be used in practice.

  • To protect the power systems from fault current, the rated protective equipment should be installed. However growth of power system scale and concentration of loads caused the large fault current in power transmission system and distribution system. The capacities of installed protective equipment have been exceeded the due to increase of fault current. This increase is not temporary phenomenon but will be steadily as long as the industry develops. The power system operator need a counter-measurement for safety, so superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) has been received attention as effective solutions to reduce the fault current. For the above reasons various type SFCLs have been studied recently. In this paper, operation characteristics and power burden of trigger type SFCL is studied. The trigger type SFCL has been used for real system research in many countries. Another trigger type SFCL (double quench trigger type SFCL) is also studied. For this paper, short circuit test is performed.

  • There are many exclusive freight cars in railway freight transportation system. Gondola is one kind of freight cars. Gondolas have a role to carry bulk-type cargo such as coals and ores. A few problems are occurring due to exclusive freight cars. Operation company has redundant freight cars because exclusive freight cars can carry limited items. And purchasing cost of freight cars is higher and higher because of irregular bid. Operation efficiency of gondola is very low because return time of gondola is much longer than that of container car. In this study, we analysed the introduction effect of hopper-type container for through transit. First, we identified the characteristics of spatial distribution on freight stations. And we provided the effect of hopper-type container in terms of operation efficiency, cost reduction, new demand excavation and image enhancement of eco-friendly railroad.

Design of New Current Full-Bridge Resonant Inverter for Induction Heating System (유도가열 시스템을 위한 새로운 전류형 풀-브릿지 공진형 인버터 설계)

  • There are two types of inverters that are generally used in induction heating systems: voltage type inverters and high-frequency half-bridge inverters. This paper proposes a new resonant inverter for induction heating systems using the current type full-bridge method. The proposed method can remove capacitors at the input end, and enables unity power factor operation by preventing phase differences of voltage and current. Furthermore, Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) which is in tune with current type inverter can be adopted and continuous power adjustment is possible through duty ratio changes and frequency modulation in switching operation. Simulations and experiments showed that the proposed current type full-bridge resonant inverter could be used for unity power factor control and ZVS operation in induction heating systems.
