Operating Characteristics of a Main Oxidizer Shut-off Valve According to Operating Times (작동 횟수에 따른 연소기 산화제 개폐밸브 작동 특성)

  • The operating characteristics of a main oxidizer shut-off valve have been examined by life-cycle tests in which the valve operates as many times as is required at room and cryogenic temperatures. It is shown that there is no significant change of the operating characteristics in the course of the life-cycle tests. The critical pressures and principal forces, which represent the operating characteristics, differ at each operating time by less than about 3%. These qualified operating characteristics of the valve are expected to play an indispensible role in the stable startup and shutdown of a liquid rocket engine.

Study on the Performance Characteristics of the Solar Hybrid System with Heat Pump Operating Temperature during Winter Season (겨울철 열펌프 작동온도에 따른 태양열 하이브리드 시스템의 성능특성에 관한 연구)

  • Study on the performance characteristics of the solar hybrid system with heat pump operating temperature during winter season has performed by using an experimental test. The system performance and operating characteristics with the heat pump operating temperature, hour and load condition were investigated and analyzed. As a result, the hot water temperature was significantly affected by the heat pump operating temperature at the morning(time 1) and noon(time 2). However, hot water temperature was set by the radiation quality and collecting operation hour at the afternoon(time 3). In addition to the solar fraction was decreased for the high heat pump operating temperature because the heat pump operated with a long operating time and short operating period.

  • This paper deals with the operating characteristics of induction motors with broken rotor bar, stator winding inter-turn short and their complex fault conditions. The considered operating characteristics are phase current, torque and speed. Since the operating characteristics of induction motors are directly related to their slip conditions, this paper built the experimental set to adjust the speed of induction motor with a permanent magnet synchronous generator connected to a load bank. From the various experimental results, it is shown that the faults do not highly affect on the operating characteristics of induction motors in low slip conditions, but the fault characteristics can be easily found in larger slip conditions.

  • The morphological analysis of wear debris can provide early a failure diagnosis in lubricated moving system. It can be effective to analyze operating conditions of oil-lubricated tribological system with shape characteristics of wear debris in a lubricant. But, in order to predict and recognize an operating condition of lubricated machine, it is needed to analyze and to identify shape characteristics of wear debris. Therefore, If the morphological characteristics of wear debris are recognized by computer image analysis using the neural network algorithm, it is possible to recognize operating condition of hydraulic driving members. In this study, wear debris in the lubricating oil are extracted by membrane filter (0.45 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$), and the quantitative values of shape parameters of wear debris are calculated by the digital image processing. This shape parameters are studied and identified by the artificial neural network algorithm. The result of study could be applied to prediction and to recognition of the operating condition of hydraulic driving members in lubricated machine systems.

Analysis of a Maintenance·Repair Service Center Model Operating under Alternating Complementary Dyadic Policies (상호보완적인 이변수 운영정책이 교대로 적용되는 정비서비스센터 모형분석)

  • Different from general operating policies applied for various waiting line situations, two complementary dyadic operating policies are applied alternatingly to a single server maintenance service center model. That is, either of the two dyadic Min (N, T) or Max (N, T) policy is applied to operate such center first and the other operating policy should be applied later, and then the same sequence of both operating policies is followed repeatedly. This operating policy is denoted by the Minimax (N, T) policy. Purpose: Because of the newly introduced operating policy, important system characteristics of the considered service center model such as the expected busy and idle periods, the expected number of customers in the service center and so on should be derived to provide necessary information for determination of the optimal operating policy. Methods: Based on concepts of the newly introduced Minimax (N, T) policy, all necessary system characteristics should be redefined and then derived by constructing appropriate relations between complementary two dyadic operating policies. Results: Desired system characteristics are obtained successfully using simple procedures developed by utilizing peculiar structure of the Minimax (N, T) policy. Conclusion: Applying Minimax (N, T) operating policy is equivalent to applying the simple N and T operating policies alternatingly.

  • This paper deals with the characteristics analysis and experiments of operating actuator for automatic door operated by fire detecting sensor. The dynamic characteristics of operating actuator system are analyzed on the structure of the operating actuator model. Simulation and experimental result have been performed for the verification of the proposed system and dynamic characteristics applied to a actuator by electromechanical energy conversion theory. The experimental result have been compared with proposed theoretical predictions. In this experimental result represented the temperature T1 and T2 which remarks T1 is a circumstance of operating actuator system, and T2 is a fire detecting sensor part.

Qualitative Mapping of Ambient Intelligence Characteristics to Operating System Features in Smart Environment

  • The goal of Ambient Intelligence (AmI) is to build a smart environment for users where they are supported in some of their activities by many interaction mechanisms. The diversity of AmI characteristics requires special support from Operating Systems (OSes). In this paper, in order to support a conscious choice of an operating system for any specific AmI application, features requested by AmI systems were characterized and defined considering various applications. Then, characteristics of existing Operating Systems have been investigated in the context of AmI application support to relate their key characteristics to the typical requirements of AmI systems. Qualitative mapping table between AmI characteristics and as features has been proposed with an illustration of how to use it. As no as completely covers the range of characteristics required by AmI systems, challenging issues are summarized for the development of a new as and a product line of OSes.

  • This study compares the criteria of earth leakage breakers (ELB) and analyzes the characteristics of an Igc-free ELB operated by an active component which is not misoperated by capacitive current. Even for the same ELB, the earth leakage current flowing through the human body is estimated to be differ greatly depending on the power source, voltage, location and status of contact, contact time duration, etc. Earth leakage breakers are classified based on the rated voltage, rated sensing current, rated operating time etc. Mounting and demounting of the existing equipment can be performed easily since an $I_{gc}$-free ELB is manufactured with the same structure as a conventional ELB. The rated operating current of a conventional and an $I_{gc}$-free ELB is 30mA, the sensing current is 25mA and the rated non-operating current is 15mA. In the analysis of non-operating current characteristics, the rated non-operating current of 15mA was satisfied up to a 20mA charging current in the conventional ELB, but does not satisfy the rated non-operating current as it operates when the resistive leakage current is lower than 15mA for a charging current exceeding 20mA. Also, the ELB is misoperated without a resistive leakage current when the charging current exceeded 25mA. However, the newly developed $I_{gc}$-free ELB satisfied the rated non-operating current even when the charging current was 60mA. Also, in comparison to the interrupting characteristics, it was confirmed that the charging current satisfying the rated non-operating current of the $I_{gc}$-free ELB was three times higher than that of the conventional ELB.

  • The experimental study was carried out to investigate the pressure fluctuation, operating frequency, noise emission and combustion characteristics in an aero-valved pulsating combustor. Measurements of the pressure fluctuation, mean temperature and ion current inside the combustion chamber indicate that combustion phenomena are characteristically similar to those in the diffusion flame. The measured frequency schedue indicates that the acoustic theory of the quarter wave tube can be approximated to give the operating frequency, but correction factor must be involved to estimate the correct operating frequency. The spectral behavior of the noise emission exhibits that frequency bands with high noise intensity are narrowly restricted to the neighborhood of the operating frequency signalling the low-frequency combustion characteristics of the pulsating combustor. Measurements of the operating characteristics as variation of the fuel nozzle diameter and injection angle with 4 fuel nozzles have been made, and it was found that the system produced the stable operating conditions up to the turn down ratio of 3 when the fuel nozzle diameter is 1.2mm, and the optimum fuel injection angle is thought to be in the neighborhood of 30.deg. radially.

Operating Characteristics of LNG burner for Steam Reforming of Natural Gas (천연가스 수증기개질 반응용 LNG 버너의 운전 특성)

  • In this study, we investigated operating characteristics of the LNG burner for steam methane reforming. The developed LNG burner and catalytic reactor to supply an efficient heat transfer between the combustion gas and catalyst got a good response of various operating load within 5-7 minute and high efficiency for steam methane reforming as a conversion of methane over 90%. We calculated the volume of catalyst for $1Nm^3/hr$ steam LNG reforming as $211cc/(Nm^3/hr\;H_2)$ and got the operating condition and design data of the burner and steam reforming for LNG.
