A Design Method of Hybrid Analog/Asymmetrical-FIR Pulse-Shaping Filters with an Eye-Opening Control Option against Receiver Timing Jitter

  • This paper presents a method of designing hybrid analog/asymmetrical square-root (SR) FIR filters. In addition to the conventional frequency domain constraints, the proposed method considers time-domain constraints as well, including the inter-symbol interference (ISI) and the opening of the eye pattern at the receiver output. This paper also reviews a systematic way to find the discrete-time equivalence of analog parts in a band-limited digital communication system. Thus, a phase equalizer can be easily realized to compensate for the nonlinear phase responses of the analog components. With the hybrid analog/SR FIR filter co-design, examples show that using the proposed method can result in a more robust ISI performance in the presence of the receiver clock jitter.

  • The Safety depressurization System(SDS) of KNGR prevents RCS from overpressurization by discharging high pressure and temperature coolant through the I-sparger into the IRWST during an accident. If IRWST water temperature rise locally, around the sparger, beyond $200_{\circ}$2000 F by the discharged coolant, unstable steam condensation can cause large pressure load on the IRWST wall. To investigate whether this condition can be avoided for the design basis event IOPOSRV(Inadvertent Opening of one Pilot Operated Safety Relief Valve), the flow and temperature distribution of water in the IRWST is calculated by using CFX 4.3 computational fluid dynamic code. According to the results, since pool water temperature does not exceeds temperature limit within 50 seconds after the opening of one POSRV, it can be assured that the integrity of IRWST wall is maintained.

  • During the operation, fatigue failures and cracks of duct plate due to excessive duct vibration occurred in a fan-duct system of fossil fueled boilers. We measured static pressure variation (pressure pulsation) in the outlet, and also measured vibration at the outlet duct of a centrifugal fan. It was found that strong pressure pulsation caused by the inlet vortex occurred in inlet vane of centrifugal fan in the middle range of vane opening. Thus, excessive duct vibration is caused by strong pressure pulsation. In this Paper, it is shown that the frequency and amplitude of pressure pulsation depend mainly on vane opening and are compared with duct vibration. Also, effective solution for reducing pressure pulsation and vibration are presented.

  • The potential for the RELAP5/MOD3.2 was assessed for the loss-of-RHR event during the mid-loop operation and the predictability of major thermal-hydraulic phenomena was also evaluated for the long term transient. The analysis results of the typical two cases(cold leg opening case and pressurizer opening case) were compared with experimental data which was conducted at ROSA-IV/LSTF in Japan. As a result, it was shown that tile code was capable of simulating the thermal-hydraulic transport process with appropriate time step during the reduced inventory operation with the loss-of- RHR system.

  • The Flow fields of a ship's propulsion mechanism of Weis-Fogh type were investigated by the PIV. Velocity vectors and velocity profiles around the operating and stationary wings were observed at opening angles of ${\alpha}=15^{\circ} and $30^{\circ}$, velocity ratios of V/U=$0.5{\sim}1.5$ and Reynolds number of Re=$0.52{\times}10^4{\sim}1.0{\times}10^4$. As the results the fluid between wing and wall was inhaled in the opening stage and was jet in the closing stage. The wing in the translating stage accelerated the fluid in the channel. And the flow fields of this propulsion mechanism were unsteady and complex, but those were clarified by flow visualization using the PIV.

  • Maximal active movements of the mandible in the vertical and the horizontal plane were measured in 106 mem and 78 women. ranging from 20 to 29 years old, with a method devised by agerberg. The studied persons who were dental students of the School of Dentistry Seoul National University (SNU), nurses and dental auxiliaries of the SNU Hospital, had no pain or severe symptoms of dysfunction of the masticatory system. The obtained results were as follows : 1. The mean values for maximal opening and protrusion differed significantly between men and women, 55.9 mm and 49.7 mm, 9.3 mm and 7.4 mm respectively. 2. The means found for maximal lateral movement to the right and to the left were practically the same, 8.5 - 9 mm and did not differ with sex. 3. The lower limit of the normal range of horizontal movements may be regarded as 4 mm for men and 3 mm for women and maximal opening as 44 mm for men and 39 mm for women. 4. The maximal mandibular movement ranges of 20-year old person with 95 % probability were calculated and presented grphically.

Aspects of Mixture Formation in a Swirl Type GDI Engine (스월형 GDI 엔진의 연료혼합특성 연구)

  • For the Purpose of understanding the mixing phenomena of a GDI(Gasoline Direct Injection) engine, the spray behaviors and fuel distributions were investigated in a single cylinder transparent GDI engine. The experimental engine is a swirl type GDI engine with a SCV(Swirl Control Valve). PLIF(Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence) system with KrF Excimer laser was used for the measurement of the fuel distributions. The effects of SCV opening angles and the injector specifications on the fuel distribution characteristics were investigated. As a result, it was found that the SCV opening angle had a great effect on the fuel distributions in the late stage of compression process by changing the flow fields in the combustion chamber.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present essential numerical data of FCV(Flow rate Control Valve) which is used in a projectile ejection system for a underwater vehicle. A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3 dimensional viscous compressible flow field within the FCV as four cases of opening rate, 25, 50, 75, and $100\%$. The flow coefficient of each cases are mainly calculated. And other characteristics such as the location of shock wave and total temperature distribution are also determined.

  • Korea High Speed Railway of which wheels have been excessively worn during the trial operation prior to opening was additionally applied with solid lubricant besides the existing oil lubricant in order to overcome such excessive wear. Therefore, it was shown that wear status has been improved in the test by which railway system including vehicles and tracks was stabilized during a year's commercial operation, comparing to that with excessive wear in the trial operation prior to opening to the public. In this connection, wheel's wear per mileage was analyzed, based on vehicles in service in order to make out the wheel's wear at present, from which the useful data relating to wheel maintenance could be obtained.
