  • These days, companies have to process enormous information and knowledge to satisfy desire of customers. The mere storage of them is no longer a significant problem because of the immense progress information technology has made during the past years and decades. It is important to deliver the right piece of information to the right person at the right time. Consequently, Knowledge management which supports the exchange of relevant information within company organization structure is of special interest for current enterprises. To solve this problem, a concept of the Knowledge management system is introduced in this paper based on the ontology technology. An ontology can describe all relevant information about documents, products, organizational structures or the users, their interests and experiences and be understood by everybody.

  • Achieving the beneficiary goal of recent discovery in human genome project still needs a way to retrieve and analyze the exponentially expanding bio-related information. Research on bio-related fields naturally applies knowledge discovered to the current problem and make inferences to extract new information where shared concepts and data containing information need to be defined and used in a coherent way. In such a professional domain, while the need to help users reduce their work and to improve search results has been emerged. methods for systematic retrieval and adequate exchange of relevant information are still in their infancy. The design of our system aims at improving the quality of information retrieval in a professional domain by utilizing both corpus-based and concept-based ontology. Meta-rules of helping users to make an adequate query are formed into an ontology in the domain. The integration of those knowledge permits the system to retrieve relevant information in a more semantic and systematic fashion. This work mainly describes the query models with details of GUI and a secondary query generation of the system.

  • The Semantic Web enables machines to achieve an effective retrieval, integration, and reuse of web resources. The keyword search method currently used has a limit to accurate search results because of a simple string matching method in web environment. This paper proposes an Ontology-Based Information Retrieval which can solve the problems and retrieve better search results through semantic relations. In this system, we implemented the Cultural Assets Ontology based on OWL with RDQL and Jena API. we also suggest a method to handle properties stored in a database.

  • In a variety of network environments, the provision of context-aware services, it is difficult to integrate and share because of the heterogeneity problem between distributed data. This paper proposes the integration model using the ontology as a method for solving the above. This uses an ontology to integrate the context-aware informations that are collected. The ontology is generated by the acquisition, semantic analysis and inference of the metadata of the context-aware information. This is the basis of the analysis and analysis of the additional system. Accordingly, this paper studies ways to create an ontology and apply them. The advantage of the proposed scheme can be used without modifying the existing tools, it is possible to easily perform the expansion and consolidation of the system.

  • It is not easy for users to effectively have information that is semantically related but scattered on the Web. To obtain qualitatively improved information in web pages, it is necessary to integrate information that is heterogeneous but semantically related. In this study, we propose a method that provides XML-based metadata to users through integration of multiple heterogeneous Web pages. The metadata generated from the proposed system is obtained by integrating different heterogeneous information into a single page, using entity identification based on ontology. A wheelchair information integration system for disabled people is implemented to verify the efficiency of the proposed method. The implemented system provides an integrated web page from multiple web pages as a type of XML document.

  • Data integration is techniques to combine heterogeneous data from different sources, and to allow users to transparently access all data from multiple sources via a single view. The difficulty with data integration is data heterogeneity (i.e. schema heterogeneity, semantic heterogeneity). Richer semantics of data is a major factor in resolving conflicts among heterogeneous data sources. As UML class model represents only schema-based semantics of data, alternative methods such as ontology is useful for representing additional semantics. This paper proposes a method for integrating two data sources with UML class models by using an analysis of their ontologies. In our framework, ontology will be applied to describe semantics of data in each source. Then the ontologies are analysed and compared to determine their similarities and differences. The result of the comparison is used to devise an integrated ontology that will enable querying on the integrated information.

  • Different CAx systems are being utilized throughout the product lifecycle due to the practical reasons in the supply chain and design processes. One of the major problems facing enterprises of today is how to share and exchange data among heterogeneous applications. Since different software applications use different terminologies, it is difficult to share and exchange the product data with internal and external partners. This paper presents a method to enhance the CAD model interoperability based on feature ontology. The feature ontology has been constructed based on the feature definition of modeling commands of CAD systems. A method for integration of semantic data has been proposed, implemented, and tested with two commercial CAD systems.

  • Objectives: In this study, diagnosis of an ontology-based electronic chart system works by presenting a model electronic chart system is contributing to the standardization and objectification in Oriental Medicine field. Methods: The clinic is currently used in the electronic chart, and use surveys and research utilization was diagnosed. In addition, the symptoms with medicines, prescriptions, patterns ontology data, information, relationships between the association was derived. electronic chart the flow of information from the input data stream was defined using the ontology. Medicines, prescriptions, patterns diagnosis ontology, using the process model presented in the electronic chart. Results: This study show that interoperable model within the diagnostic capabilities of the electronic chart system in Oriental Medicine and represent diagnosis process in the system with symptoms. Conclusions: Diagnosed with symptoms of ontology integration with electronic chart to study the model was placed goal. Diagnosis and prescription due to strong associative connection implies an ontology can be seen even more important. Diagnostic elements will be added to enhance the diagnostic capabilities in the electronic chart can be varied and objective diagnostic model can be presented. This study extends the range for the CDSS, and new areas of research can be presented.

  • A reference ontology for cultural heritage information, CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM), has promoted cooperation among memory institutions and FRBRoo, re-constructed version of FRBR based on CRM, was developed. In this study, the harmonized ontology version of FRBR, FRBRoo, was analysed and, as a results, the followings are suggested: empowered interoperability for information exchange and integration among cultural institutions and designing more comprehensible inference rules than original FRBR model. Moreover, the by-products of harmonization gave opportunity to recognize internal inconsistencies of the FRBR model and CRM itself and refine them.
