Trans-Parasocial Relation Between Influencers and Viewers on Live Streaming Platforms: How Does it Affect Viewer Stickiness and Purchase Intention?

  • Live streaming has become one of the most important communication tools for influencers to synchronously interact with viewers. It is critical to understand the effect of the reciprocal and synchronously interactive relations built between influencers and viewers, so-called trans-parasocial relations, in the context of live streaming. In this study, we investigate how trans-parasocial relations impact viewers' stickiness and purchase intention on live streaming platforms. Furthermore, we investigate fanship as a mediating factor in the relationship between trans-parasocial relations and viewers' behaviors. Overall, the results reveal significant direct and indirect effects of trans-parasocial relations on viewers' stickiness and purchase intention. Higher trans-parasocial relations further lead to stronger viewers' fanship toward influencers and increases their willingness to stay longer or make purchases on live streaming platforms. These findings further the understanding of influencer-viewer relations and viewers' behavior on live streaming platforms and provide valuable insights into influencer marketing and live streaming.

  • L&P Cosmetic, the leading company selling mask packs on the global market, produces MEDIHEAL, the number-one best-selling mask pack brand in Korea and the best-selling imported mask pack brand in China (2017). The company pioneered the premium market for mask packs through its launch of premium mask packs in 2009, and has subsequently achieved outstanding success in Korea and China. Three key factors have contributed to the success of L&P Cosmetic: product leadership with R&D capability, strategic marketing programs tailored for each market segment, and operational excellence focusing on strategic outsourcing and partnership management. Nonetheless, globalization beyond the Chinese market remains a major challenge for the potential of L&P Cosmetic. The company has embarked upon a collaboration with BTS, the world's top K-pop stars, as an optimally effective way to achieve its goals and a highly efficient strategy to manage the risks of globalization. The global branding collaboration project with BTS has succeeded in generating primary demand for mask packs on the global market, spreading brand awareness of MEDIHEAL, and establishing global channel networks. L&P Cosmetic will continue to grow worldwide on the basis of this outstanding performance.

O2O-based Social Media Marketing Method for Word-Of-Mouth Effect: Focused on the Analysis of Case Studies (구전효과를 위한 O2O 기반의 소셜미디어 마케팅 방법: 사례분석을 중심으로)

  • Social media has recently become one of the primary tools for viral marketing as an effective advertising channel, in order to maximize effects of world-of-mouth through social media, it is very important to obtain customer experience-centric differentiated contents in offline. However, viral marketing is still being implemented mainly based on online channels because of the lack of effective services and methods to support social medial marketing in conjunction with offline. On that account, this study proposes O2O(Online to Offline) based social media marketing method allowing customers to connect their personal experience conveniently and easily in offline in which they voluntarily participate. Furthermore, this study aims to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method by analyzing the empirical cases thereof. This study would eventually contribute to the vitalization of social media marketing market by enabling customers to obtain personalized posts as connecting online to offline organically and also by allowing corporations to get an ample amount of useful CRM information for planning marketing strategies.

  • The automotive industry plays a significant role in the global economy. One of the reasons is that this industry compasses every aspects of the value chain - from raw materials to design and development, manufacturing, sales and services, and even disposal. Thus, the industry needs significant upfront capital investment and requires years of R&D and market development. As a result, this industry is dominated by a handful of global players and it is not easy for a new entrant to enter this industry. Furthermore, success is even more difficult to achieve. How did Hyundai Motor make it in this tough marketplace? Can it continue against all odds? The CAGR for last 5 years is 12% and it stands at 6th in the world. Compared to other global brands, Hyundai has geographically well-balanced sales portfolio. The quality improvement is outstanding. The brand performance follows these quality and sales improvements. Yet, the global competition is ever intensifying. Now, it is the time to step up once more. The next strategic goal needs fundamental shift toward brand and marketing-focus. In constructing global marketing strategy, Hyundai Motor's vision is "Lifetime partner in mobility and beyond" and its goal is global top 3 brand by year 2015 through modern premium brand image and selling 5 million vehicles. The target brand positioning of Hyundai Motor is the leading position in premium dimension and stylish/modern dimension. The global brand strategy framework is based on the brand direction of "Modern Premium" and is designed to deliver core brand identity (i.e., Simple, Creative, Caring) to customers. In order to manage brand performance, Hyundai's marketing platformalso includes marketing performance management, brand performance management, and market driven organization. From this diagnosis, Hyundai Motor is well posed to build a strong brand. Nevertheless, there are still challenges ahead from consumer, technology, competitor, and macro-environment perspectives. To overcome these threats, the bases of competition for all successful automotive brands are various differentiation factors, including technology, performance, value proposition, or heritage. Hyundai Motor is well prepared so far. However, it is not tested against time yet whether Hyundai can overcome these unforeseeable major threats. Hyundai is trying to find the solution from a strong brand, while believing in "New Thinking. New Possibilities."

  • This study investigate the roles of national image and corporate image on perceived quality, brand image, brand loyalty and brand equity of Chinese brands and global brands that are doing marketing in China. Several implications of this study is following like these. First, national image is one of major influence factors that affect enough on perceived quality likewise factors like advertising, price, and distribution. It is important marketing tool to promote national image on the national perspective and need to do those kinds of marketing activities. Second, this study shows the result that corporate image that is measured by the items focused on abilities of corporations is also influence factors that affect on perceived quality. In this perspective, the corporate image focused marketing activities of Korean firms may be the one of effective tools. Consequently, this study explains the mechanism that national image and corporate image variables enhance perceived quality, and perceived quality enhances brand image, brand loyalty and brand equity.

A Case Study of Broadcasting Contents Using One Source Multi Use Strategy (사례 분석을 통한 방송콘텐츠 OSMU의 고찰 - OSMU 이론적 정립 및 비즈니스분류를 중심으로 -)

  • In this study, we investigated broadcasting industry in Korea and in U.S. to find out what mostly makes the broadcasting industry competitive for the near future. One source multi use(from now on OSMU) marketing strategy is important when discussing profits of broadcasting contents. To develop a theoretical and academic framework of OSMU, 14 experts participated in focus group interview. A new meaning of OSMU is defined and 4 types of OSMU business models are developed in the study. Also, two successful examples of broadcasting contents, each from Korea and U.S., were analyzed with the models that we have developed. Lastly, we discussed how to enhance the competitiveness of broadcasting contents and industry by using the benefit-maximizing-strategies of OSMU.

  • As a brand becomes a core asset in creating a corporation's value, brand marketing has become one of core strategies that corporations pursue. Recently, for customer relationship management, possession and consumption of goods were centered on brand for the management. Thus, management related to this matter was developed. The main reason of the increased interest on the relationship between the brand and the consumer is due to acquisition of individual consumers and development of relationship with those consumers. Along with the development of relationship, a corporation is able to establish long-term relationships. This has become a competitive advantage for the corporation. All of these processes became the strategic assets of corporations. The importance and the increase of interest of a brand have also become a big issue academically. Brand equity, brand extension, brand identity, brand relationship, and brand community are the results derived from the interest of a brand. More specifically, in marketing, the study of brands has been led to the study of factors related to building of powerful brands and the process of building the brand. Recently, studies concentrated primarily on the consumer-brand relationship. The reason is that brand loyalty can not explain the dynamic quality aspects of loyalty, the consumer-brand relationship building process, and especially interactions between the brands and the consumers. In the studies of consumer-brand relationship, a brand is not just limited to possession or consumption objectives, but rather conceptualized as partners. Most of the studies from the past concentrated on the results of qualitative analysis of consumer-brand relationship to show the depth and width of the performance of consumer-brand relationship. Studies in Korea have been the same. Recently, studies of consumer-brand relationship started to concentrate on quantitative analysis rather than qualitative analysis or even go further with quantitative analysis to show effecting factors of consumer-brand relationship. Studies of new quantitative approaches show the possibilities of using the results as a new concept of viewing consumer-brand relationship and possibilities of applying these new concepts on marketing. Studies of consumer-brand relationship with quantitative approach already exist, but none of them include sub-dimensions of consumer-brand relationship, which presents theoretical proofs for measurement. In other words, most studies add up or average out the sub-dimensions of consumer-brand relationship. However, to do these kind of studies, precondition of sub-dimensions being in identical constructs is necessary. Therefore, most of the studies from the past do not meet conditions of sub-dimensions being as one dimension construct. From this, we question the validity of past studies and their limits. The main purpose of this paper is to overcome the limits shown from the past studies by practical use of previous studies on sub-dimensions in a one-dimensional construct (Naver & Slater, 1990; Cronin & Taylor, 1992; Chang & Chen, 1998). In this study, two arbitrary groups were classified to evaluate reliability of the measurements and reliability analyses were pursued on each group. For convergent validity, correlations, Cronbach's, one-factor solution exploratory analysis were used. For discriminant validity correlation of consumer-brand relationship was compared with that of an involvement, which is a similar concept with consumer-based relationship. It also indicated dependent correlations by Cohen and Cohen (1975, p.35) and results showed that it was different constructs from 6 sub-dimensions of consumer-brand relationship. Through the results of studies mentioned above, we were able to finalize that sub-dimensions of consumer-brand relationship can viewed from one-dimensional constructs. This means that the one-dimensional construct of consumer-brand relationship can be viewed with reliability and validity. The result of this research is theoretically meaningful in that it assumes consumer-brand relationship in a one-dimensional construct and provides the basis of methodologies which are previously preformed. It is thought that this research also provides the possibility of new research on consumer-brand relationship in that it gives root to the fact that it is possible to manipulate one-dimensional constructs consisting of consumer-brand relationship. In the case of previous research on consumer-brand relationship, consumer-brand relationship is classified into several types on the basis of components consisting of consumer-brand relationship and a number of studies have been performed with priority given to the types. However, as we can possibly manipulate a one-dimensional construct through this research, it is expected that various studies which make the level or strength of consumer-brand relationship practical application of construct will be performed, and not research focused on separate types of consumer-brand relationship. Additionally, we have the theoretical basis of probability in which to manipulate the consumer-brand relationship with one-dimensional constructs. It is anticipated that studies using this construct, which is consumer-brand relationship, practical use of dependent variables, parameters, mediators, and so on, will be performed.

  • South Korea has spend billions planing for entertainment contents development, exporting contents, developing strategies for overseas marketing. But one piece of the plan may be missing: The ability of corporations to continue to provide vital services. Over the years, a number of studies have examined korean waves and have reached the same conclusion: starting a activity without reasonable strategies tends to have effects on merchandising, income, image, etc. For the purpose of analysis, this study has adopted SWOT matrix, Japan's market, for instance, is mixed by variation factors-opportunities, threats, strengths, weakness. Fortunately, Because Japan's market, the most world's cultural contents, has an environmental condition of advanced level, If Our en-contents have a high level, through localization and strategic alliance, the marketing strategies for japan' market will do a good chance of success.

The Effect of Displaying Products in Their Usage Context - A Field Experimental Investigation -

  • The widespread use of self-service concepts in retailing has resulted in increased attention to the design of retail environments and to stimuli operating at the point of sale. One such merchandising technique, the "bundled presentation", i.e., related products are presented in close proximity to each other, is widely used by retailers but has rarely been investigated by academic consumer researchers. This study presents the results of a field experiment into the effects of presenting products in their usage context. Customers' attitudes towards the same product displayed in different ways are compared with each other. The results show that related products, i.e., products that are used together, should be presented in a coordinated display. Furthermore, the bundled presentation enhanced consumers' attitudes of the product when they saw it first in a bundled presentation and then evaluated it in front of a traditional presentation.
