  • This paper describes an air conditioner control method using a fuzzy control theory. The fuzzy control method was implemented with Philips 80C552 one chip microcomputer and tested in an actual vehicle. Experiments showed that proposed control method is superior to the conventional PID control method especially in the environments with abrupt disturbance and parameter variation of the control system. Fuzzy-Based control method was proved to maintain a stable and improved temperature control in an abrupt environmental changes.

  • This paper compares two types of direct torque controllers for permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSMs). These controllers both use a single-chip FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) but have differing hardware configurations. One of the controllers was constructed by programming a soft-core CPU and hardware logic circuits written in VHDL(Very high speed IC Hardware Description Language), while the other was constructed of only hardware logic circuits. The characteristics of these two controllers were compared in this paper. The results show the controller constructed of only hardware logic circuits was able to shorten the control period and it was able to suppress the low torque ripple.

  • The long line fishing machine is combined with motor and two disc rollers has used on the small size fishing-boat under 1 ton located in near Jeollanam-do seaside. The long line fishing motor is controlled only one direction because the fishing line is loaded heavily at pulling up. On this paper we made the long line fishing 400W power motor controller which it was usually applied under 1 ton fishing boat, and designed the controller using PWM chip, Half bridge driver and MOSFET for one direction motor control. Furthermore some user convenience devices were added like battery indicator and safety protection circuit for battery overdischarge and battery source wire mismatch connection. So we protected the battery from overdicharging when the battery voltage was below 11.5V and fishermen didn't need to worry about source lines misconnection anymore. We confirmed the test version of controller was the good working condition at land and sea.

  • In this paper, recently, it is described to the piezoelectric transformer technology develops, because it was have to favorable characteristics such as electromagnetic-noise free, compact size, higher efficiency, and superior power density, flux linkage, noiseless, etc. its resonance frequency was used to output waveform of a sine wave. A rotor speed identification method of induction motor based on the theory of flux model reference adaptive system(FMRAS). The estimator execute the rotor speed identification so that the vector control of the induction motor may be achieved. The improved auxiliary variable of the model are introduced to perform accurate rotor speed estimation. The control system is composed of the PI controller for speed control and the current controller using space voltage vector PWM techniuqe and DC-DC converter. High speed calculation and processing for vector control is carried out by digital signal one chip microprocessor. Validity of the proposed control method is verified through simulation and experimental results.

  • In this paper, we proposed a hardware(H/W) structure which can compress and recontruct the input image in real time operation and implemented it into a FPGA platform using VHDL(VHSIC Hardware Description Language). All the image processing element to process both compression and reconstruction in a FPGA were considered each of them was mapped into H/W with the efficient structure for FPGA. We used the DWT(discrete wavelet transform) which transforms the data from spatial domain to the frequency domain, because use considered the motion JPEG2000 as the application. The implemented H/W is separated to both the data path part and the control part. The data path part consisted of the image processing blocks and the data processing blocks. The image processing blocks consisted of the DWT Kernel fur the filtering by DWT, Quantizer/Huffman Encoder, Inverse Adder/Buffer for adding the low frequency coefficient to the high frequency one in the inverse DWT operation, and Huffman Decoder. Also there existed the interface blocks for communicating with the external application environments and the timing blocks for buffering between the internal blocks The global operations of the designed H/W are the image compression and the reconstruction, and it is operated by the unit of a field synchronized with the A/D converter. The implemented H/W used the 69%(16980) LAB(Logic Array Block) and 9%(28352) ESB(Embedded System Block) in the APEX20KC EP20K600CB652-7 FPGA chip of ALTERA, and stably operated in the 70MHz clock frequency. So we verified the real time operation of 60 fields/sec(30 frames/sec).

  • The active noise control method that was developed for long duct has some problems to be applied for short duct. To overcome this problem, we apply the SISO(Single Input Single Output) algorithm for the active noise control of short duct using zero acoustic impedance boundary. The SISO algorithm can input noise signal and error signal with one microphone simultaneously. The real-time controller was implemented using TMS320E25 DSP(Digital Signal Processing) chip and it's performance was evaluated by experiment. As a result, we obtain total 4.7dBA noise reduction for 0.80m short duct.

  • This paper presents the switching angle and voltage for maximizing the torque or efficiency and minimizing torque ripple of an 8/6, SRM. The approximate analysis and computer simulation determine the switching angle and voltage by using SIMULINK$^\textregistered$. This is performed as a function of the speed and torque required by the load. From the results, new three facts can be known: First, the maximum torque depends on voltage and speed depends on switching angle. The others, the maximum efficiency and minimum torque ripple relay on switching angle. We control the switching angle and voltage of and asymmetrical inverter for the SRM with one-chip micro controller.

  • The objective of this study was to develop automatic systems of nutrient solution management for optimal nutrient solution environment and labor saving in water culture which enables factory crop production. In this study, an automatic control system and its driving program are developed to prepare, supply, and recover nutrient solution and to keep the optimal solution concentration level using microcomputers. Based on this study, the following conclusions are obtained: 1. The concentration measured by the system using oscillating circuit designed and built in this study, gave good agreements with the actual nutrient solution. 2. In water culture, the period of 12 hours for measuring concentration, pH, and temperature of the nutrient solution was optimum. Addition of control solution due to the decrease of the nutrient solution concentration is required in every 3 to 5 days. 3. It is estimated that the period of the whole solution change is 15 days, however, further research is needed to assure it. In addition, this period must be shortened in the future. 4. Both the hardware and software of the developed optimal nutrient solution control system in the water culture are working very well, however, it is necessary to develop a more economical one-chip micro controller to substitute for the microcomputer.

  • A prototype ultrasound sector B-scanner has been developed where the front-end hardware refers to all the necessary circuits for transmitting the ultrasound pulses into the human body and receiving the reflected echo signals from it. The front-end hardware can generally be divided into three parts, i.e., a pulse generator for insonification, a receiver which is responsible for processing of low-level analog signals, and a steering controller for driving the mechanical sector probe whose functions and design concepts are described in this paper. The front-end hardware is implemented which incorporates the following features: improvement of the axial resolution using a circuit which reduces the ring-down time, flexibility of generating time-gain compensation curve, and adoption of a one-chip microcomputer for generating the rate pulses based on the sensor output waveforms.
