  • The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of marketing strategies of children's clothing line for global SPA brands among Korean consumers. The following factors were evaluated as the dependent variables: benefits sought, store attributes, and brand loyalty. We employed a survey method to test our research questions. The subjects of our survey were mothers with preschool kids between 2 and 7 years who had purchase experiences of children's clothing lines of global SPA brands. The major findings are as follows: First, among the three factors of benefits sought ('trend'/'brand value'/'practicality'), the 'trend' factor only positively impacted the 'product' factor, which is part of the store attributes. 'Practicality' and 'trend' factors had a positive effect on the 'service' factor of store attributes. However, all three factors of benefits sought had no impact on the 'store' factor, and 'practicality' and 'trend' factors had positive effects on the price factor of store attributes. Second, 'practicality' and 'trend' factors among the three factors of benefits sought, had positive effects on brand loyalty. Third, the 'product', 'price', 'store', and 'service' factors had a significant positive effect on brand loyalty in decreasing order. Suggestions from our results for national SPA brands are as follows: National SPA children's clothing lines should focus more on unique designs and unique marketing strategies better reflecting Korean consumers' interest and needs in competing with their global counterparts.

  • Purpose - This study is to investigate the effects of consumption values of retailers on the importance of store attributes, and to determine the influence on the consumption values of consumers who shop at complex shopping malls on the empirical and functional attributes in those malls as well as on the influence of on/off-line channels. Research design, data, and methodology - With 344 surveyed questionnaires, this study was conducted by using SPSS 22.0 to verify the reliability and validity of the measured variables. Structural equation model (SEM) was employed as a statistical method for the hypotheses test of this study. Results - The results showed that hedonic value has more influence on the importance of empirical attribute than that of functional attribute in shopping malls. In addition, practical value has more influence on functional attributes than empirical properties of shopping malls. However, these relationships showed the difference in on/off-line channels. As for off-line channels, consumers' consumption values were more influential on empirical attributes, while functional attributes were more important in on-line channels Conclusions - This study analyzed the influence on the importance of the consumption values in store attributes, and the effects of each channel with suggesting practical implications.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to clarify the difference of store attributes of Korean consumers and to analyze it's influence on consumer satisfaction in duty free stores which gain ground inch by inch in the distribution chanel. And it is to find discriminative result as compared with foreign consumer. Research design, data, and methodology - Subjects for the quantitative study, quota sampling was adopted in the Lotte, Shilla downtown and airport duty free stores from the first to 15th December 2016 and 177 questionnaires from Koreans who had purchasing experience in off line duty free store were analyzed. The data was analyzed by using factor and reliability analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, the independent sample t-test and multiple regression analysis. To test consistency, Cronbach's alpha was used. Results - The result were as follows; 1. Korean consumers consider the importance of store attributes in duty free stores in order Product, Economic Feasibility, Convenience, Promotion, and Accessibility. 2. The meaningful impactive factors of duty free store attributes on consumer satisfaction turned out Product and Promotion. 3. These results show meaningful distinction between Koreans and foreigners in terms of consumer satisfaction in duty free stores. Conclusions - A marketer who is working for duty free store consider now that price benefit can not give strong impact to Korean consumers more and should concentrate on various brand assortment even including private brand. In terms of promotion, most duty free shops put special stress on foreign consumer's wants now as highly increasing of Chinese travelers but Korean consumer's sales portion and number of visitor also are steadily increasing. Therefore, a duty free marketer should prepare the Korean-oriented services with more enhanced promotion strategies for individual and group travellers, for example, a mileage service, VIP room and social network system to satisfy Korean consumers. In order to get satisfaction from Korean consumers, it makes effort on product and promotion than accessibility, price and convenience. Due to high level influence, further study is needed to enlarge to on-line market and to develop private brands for duty free stores.

  • The main objectives of this study were to (1) examine and compare the importance of store attributes, store commitment, store attitude, and revisit intention concerning Korean mass cosmetic brand stores between female teenage consumers and those in 20's, and (2) investigate and compare the two groups in terms of the influences of five store commitment factors on store attitude and revisit intention. On-line surveys were conducted by the marketing research company, and a total of 354 questionnaires were used in the final analysis. The results showed several significant differences between the female consumer groups in 10's and 20's. The teenage respondents placed greater importance on all store attributes except price and sales, and showed higher commitment in terms of affective commitment, and normative commitment factors than the respondents in 20's. For the teenage respondents, all four commitment factors except the normative commitment significantly influenced their store attitude and revisit intention, while the affective commitment factor did not have significant influence on either store attitude and revisit intention for the group in 20's. Normative commitment factor also did not have significant influence on revisit intention of the group in 20's. For both age groups, the negative affects of the forced commitment on store attitude and revisit intention were found.

  • For effective analyses in various business applications, OLAP(On-Line Analytical Processing) systems represent the multidimensional data as the horizontal format of tables whose columns are corresponding to values of dimension attributes. Because the traditional RDBMSs have the limitation on the maximum number of attributes in table columns(MS SQLServer and Oracle permit each table to have up to 1,024 columns), horizontal tables cannot be directly stored into relational database systems. In this paper, we propose various efficient optimization strategies in transforming horizontal queries to equivalent vertical queries. To achieve this goral, we first store a horizontal table using an equivalent vertical table, and then develop various query transformation rules for horizontal table queries using the PIVOT operator. In particular, we propose various alternative query transformation rules for the basic relational operators, selection, projection, and join. Here, we note that the transformed queries can be executed in several ways, and their execution times will differ from each other. Thus, we propose various optimization strategies that transform the horizontal queries to the equivalent vertical queries when using the PIVOT operator. Finally, we evaluate these methods through extensive experiments and identify the optimal transformation strategy when using the PIVOT operator.

  • In order to provide various business analysis methods, OLAP(On-Line Analytical Processing) systems represent their data with multidimensional structures. These multidimensional data are often delivered to users in the horizontal format of tables whose columns are corresponding to values of dimension attributes. Since the horizontal tables nay have a large number of columns, they cannot be stored directly in relational database systems. Furthermore, the tables are likely to have many null values (i.e., sparse tables). In order to manage the horizontal tables efficiently, we can store them as the vertical format of tables which has dimension attribute names as their columns thus transforms the columns of horizontal tables into rows. In this way, every queries for horizontal tables have to be transformed into those for vertical tables. This paper proposed a technique for transforming horizontal table queries into vertical table ones by utilizing not only traditional relational algebraic operators but also the PIVOT operator which recent DBMS versions are providing. For achieving this goal, we designed a relational algebraic expression equivalent to the PIVOT operator and we formally proved their equivalence. Then, we developed a transformation technique for horizontal table queries using the PIVOT operator. We also performed experiments to analyze the performance of the proposed method. From the experimental results, we revealed that the proposed method has better performance than existing methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to obtain the implications for establishing a marketing strategy for retailers by analyzing whether the consumer's preference for products (food) is influenced by on-line, off-line, and omni-channel preferences. The research model consisted of the effects of consumers' food selection characteristics on business preference and omni channel preference. The results of analysis based on 477 questionnaires are summarized as follows. First, food purchasing characteristics that utilize the seven characteristics of (1) freshness of food, (2) taste, (3) quality and safety, (4) tasting, (5) food function and information, (6) country of origin, and (7) brand loyalty, has various effects on types of business preference, omni-channel preference. The adopted hypotheses were selected in order of brand loyalty (5 times), freshness (3 times), tasting (3 times), and origin (1 time). The selective attributes on foods are: (1) what kind of brand, (2) how good the freshness is, (3) tasting. (4) The country of origin is to be compressed. Actually consumers seem to utilize only the core selective factors that are appropriate to the characteristics of the distribution channel rather than all of them in the shopping of the food, and there is three characteristics on Convenience Store and only one or two factors in the other types of business. Second, in the analysis of the omni-channel preference analysis, food selection characteristics has been shown to have a limited effect, which is attributed to the fact that the consumer has not yet understood the concept of omni channel. Third, the results of this study suggest that there is a need to reflect the selection characteristics of foods that have diverse influences by business type in the marketing strategies. Because consumers make reasonable consumption to use both on-line and off-line simultaneously, consumers who use Omni Channel focus on quality and safety of food, identify products through tasting, pursue brands that can trust anywhere. Customers who pursue rationality will have a high preference for using Omni Channel. Product choice characteristic has significant effect on omni-channel preference. For a few years, omni-channel strategy of retailers meets with a difficulty. This study make a first attempt to study omni-channel preference changing retailing paradigm.
