[$CO_2$] Emission from Carbon of Marine Fuel Oil in New Ships (신조선에서 연료탄소로부터의 $CO_2$ 배출 특성)

  • This study dealt with the measurement of exhausted gas concentration, the estimation of a combustion efficiency, and the review of IMO indexing. We concentrated on establishing the basic data to take a counterplan coping with $CO_2$ regulations. The average combustion efficiency was 98% in shop test of new engines and 96.5% in sea trial test of new ships, respectively. It would become lower for the old engine or/and ship. High combustion efficiency results in high $CO_2$ emission and low combustion efficiency results in high emission of incomplete combustion products. The efficient method reducing $CO_2$ emission without an increase in noxious air pollutants would be the development of a substitute fuel and the fuel-efficient and economical engine, and the fair play among shipping agencies in a ship speed. In reviewing of IMO indexing, it is necessary to begin by analyzing the carbon content of a marine fuel for a precise estimates.

Effects of Sodium Nitroprusside and Nitric Oxide on In Vitro Maturation of Canine Oocytes

  • These study was carried out to investigate the effects of the supplementation with sodium nitroprusside (SN) and nitric oxide (NO) of canine oocytes on IVM rates. Oocytes were incubated in TCM-199 supplement with at 0.03~0.10 mM SN and 0.3~1.0 mM NO for 48 hrs. Oocytes were transferred to 50 ul drops of maturation medium covered mineral oil and cultured in a $CO_2$ incubator (5% $CO_2$, 95% air, $38^{\circ}C$). The in vitro maturation rate of oocytes cultured for 48 hrs in TCM-199 medium supplement with 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.10 mM SN were $25.9{\pm}3.5%$, $36.4{\pm}3.2%$, $33.3{\pm}3.5%$, $28.8{\m}3.2%$, respectively. The in vitro maturation rate of oocytes cultured for 48 hrs in TCM-199 medium supplement with 0.03~0.07 mM SN were significantly increased compare to the control ($26.0{\pm}2.2%$). The in vitro maturation rates of oocytes cultured for 48 hrs in TCM-199 medium supplement with 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0 mM NO were $28.0{\pm}4.2%$, $36.5{\pm}3.6%$, $30.0{\pm}3.8%$, $19.2{\pm}3.5%$, respectively. The in vitro maturation rate of oocytes in TCM-199 medium supplemented with 0.3 and 0.5 mM NO were significantly increased compare to the control ($26.0{\pm}2.2%$). The in vitro maturation rates of oocytes cultured for 12~48 hrs in TCM-199 medium supplement with 0.05 mM SN were $26.0{\pm}3.2%$, $28.0{\pm}3.4%$, $38.0{\pm}3.2%$, respectively. The in vitro maturation rate of oocytes cultured for 12~48 hrs in TCM-199 medium supplement with 0.5 mM NO were $22.0{\pm}3.0%$, $30.0{\pm}3.8%$, $36.0{\pm}4.2%$, respectively. These result was significantly increased compare to the control.

  • The purpose of the study was to analyze in process of circulation market boiled whale meat's rancidity. oxidative rancidity is oil or fat food depend on oxygen in air oxidative change in quality. boiled whale meat faty come to oxidative rancidity food stability and hygiene reasons for people health poisonous point out, however it is not indication study of support. Accordingly confirm lead into circulation process boiled whale meat's rancidity examination and microorganism examination boiled whale meat's stability whether or not. The result obtained were summarized as follows: 1. Proximate percentage of boiled whale meat(pectoral, pelvic, fin, flank) of moisture and crude lipid and crude protein from samples shown to be : moisture was pectoral 16.4%, pelvic 36.2%, fin 46.2%, flank 19.2%, crude lipid was pectoral 54.1%, pelvic 42.8%, fin 15.8%, flank 40.6%,crude protein was pectoral 29.4%, pelvic 20.5%, fin 29.5%, flank 28.6%. 2. The fatty acid composition of total lipid were composed of pectoral 27.2%, pelvic 28.9%, fin 33.3%, flank 23.4% of oleic acid and pectoral 12.7%, pelvic 11.1%, fin 11.3%, flank 14.0% of palmitic acid pectoral 10.8%, pelvic 7.9%, fin 7.6%, flank 2.1% of docosahexaenoic acid, pectoral 14.2%, pelvic 7.5%, fin 1.9%, flank 7.2% of eicosenoic acid, pectoral 5.1%, pelvic 5.7%, fin 4.4%, flank 5.7% of myristic acid, 16: 0 11∼14 % of high saturated fatty acid. generally most of 18: 1ω9 of boiled whale meat's each portion, 22:6 7∼12%, 20:5 1∼14% of polyenoic fatty acid. 18:3 showen to be 1% make an expection of pectoral and fin portion the total lipid were most of netural lipid's about 90%, monoenic fatty acid were most of 19∼22% of saturated fatty acid, 77∼80% of monoenic fatty acid level of 47∼56% of 18:1 16:1 was markelly high to those of total lipid. 3. The storage number days variation of oxidation were shown to be by stages process favorably the past days of boiled whale meat's acid value for 5days. pectoral the day 0.1, five days 1.3, pelvic the day 0.1, five days 1.6, fin the day 0.3, five days 0.7, flank the day 0.2, five days 0.4. 4.   • How to compare the environmental damage caused by vehicles with different foe]s and drive trains\ulcorner This paper describes a methodology to assess the environmental impact of vehicles, using different approaches, and evaluating their benefits and limitations. Rating systems are analysed as tools to compare the environmental impact of vehicles, allowing decision makers to dedicate their financial and non-financial policies and support measures in function of the ecological damage. The paper is based on the "Clean Vehicles" research project, commissioned by the Brussels Capital Region via the BIM-IBGE (Brussels Institute for the Conservation of the Environment) (Van Mierlo et at., 2001). The VriJe Universiteit Brussel (ETEC) and the universite Libre do Bruxelles (CEESE) have jointly carried out the workprogramme. The most important results of this project are illustrated in this paper. First an overview of environmental, economical and technical characteristics of the different alternative fuels and drive trains is given. Afterward the basic principles to identify the environmental impact of cars are described. An outline of the considered emissions and their environmental impact leads to the definition of the calculation method, named Ecoscore. A rather simple and pragmatic approach would be stating that all alternative fuelled vehicles (LPG, CNG, EV, HEV, etc.) can be considered as ′clean′. Another basic approach is considering as ′clean′ all vehicles satisfying a stringent omission regulation like EURO IV or EEV. Such approaches however don′t tell anything about the real environmental damage of the vehicles. In the paper we describe "how should the environmental impact of vehicles be defined\ulcorner", including parameters affecting the emissions of vehicles and their influence on human beings and on the environment and "how could it be defined \ulcorner", taking into account the availability of accurate and reliable data. We take into account different damages (acid rain, photochemical air pollution, global warming. noise, etc.) and their impacts on several receptors like human beings (e.g., cancer, respiratory diseases, etc), ecosystems, or buildings. The presented methodology is based on a kind of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in which the contribution of all emissions to a certain damage are considered (e.g. using Exposure-Response damage function). The emissions will include oil extraction, transportation refinery, electricity production, distribution, (Well-to-Wheel approach), as well as the emission due to the production, use and dismantling of the vehicle (Cradle-to-Grave approach). The different damages will be normalized to be able to make a comparison. Hence a reference value (determined by the reference vehicle chosen) will be defined as a target value (the normalized value will thus measure a kind of Distance to Target). The contribution of the different normalized damages to a single value "Ecoscore" will be based on a panel weighting method. Some examples of the calculation of the Ecoscore for different alternative fuels and drive trains will be calculated as an illustration of the methodology.

Preparation and properties of gelatin from conger eel skin (붕장어껍질로부터 젤라틴의 제조 및 그 특성)

  • To prepare edible skin gelatin of conger eel such as material fur quality improvement of surimi gel, the defatted skin was limed with 1% calcium hydroxide at $5^{\circ}C$ for 2 days, washed thoroughly with tap water, extracted with 8 volumes of distilled water to dehydrated skin for 2 hours at $50^{\circ}C$. The gelatin extract was centrifuged, filtered and then passed through anion(Amberlite 200C) and cation (Amberlite IR 900) resins. The purified gelatin solution was evaporated and dried by hot-air blast$(40^{\circ}C)$. The gelatin prepared by above condition had the highest quality as revealed by physical property values i.e. 240.5 g in gel strength, $28.0^{\circ}C$ in melting point and $28.0^{\circ}C$ in gelling point. Funtional property values were 56.8% in solubility, 1.8 ml/g in oil binding capacity, 55.0% in emulsifying capacity and 48.5% in emulsifying stability. jelly strength and senso교 evaluation of surimi gel from fish with red muscle were not improved by addition of emulsifying curd from conger eel skin gelatin as emulsifier. Therefore, the conger eel skin gelatin requires a suitable modification of functional group and improvement of processing operation to utilize as a material for quality Improvement of surimi gel.

Efficient Triplet-triplet Annihilation-based Upconversion in Vegetable Oils (식물성 오일에서 구현되는 삼중항-삼중항 소멸법에 의한 Upconversion 분석)

  • We herein report efficient triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC) achieved in various non-toxic and non-volatile vegetable oils as a UC media using platinum-octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP) and 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA) as a sensitizer and acceptor, respectively. Green-to-blue UC was readily achieved from PtOEP/DPA solution in vegetable oils with the quantum yield of 8% without any deoxygenation process. The UC efficiency was found to be significantly dependent on the contents of unsaturated hydrocarbon in vegetable oils and viscosity of the solution, as well. Though the Stern-volmer constant and quantum yield in vegetable oils were measured to be lower than those measured in the deaerated organic solvent, the quenching efficiency was still high enough to be 93%. In the sunflower oil, the UC threshold intensity ($I_{th}$) was approx. $100mW/cm^2$, which is far larger than the sunlight intensity, but we believe that the UC achieved in non-toxic and air-saturated media was still highly applicable to nontraditional visualization techniques such as bioimaging.

Effects of Culture Systems on In Vitro Fertilization and Development of In Vitro Matured Bovine Follicular Oocytes (배양체계가 체외성숙 소 난포란의 체외수정 및 배 발달에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to improve the in vitro maturation(JVM), in vitro fertilization (IVF) and in vitro developmental capacity of oocytes derived from slaughtered Korean native cattle. The recoverd oocytes, obtained from a local slaughter house, were used completely surrounded by at least 3 layers of cumulus cells in combination with a homogeneous cytoplasmic pigmentation. In vitro maturation was induced in TCM-199 or Ham's F-10 supplemented with LH(1O $\mu$g/rnl), FSH(35 $\mu$g/ml), estradiol-17$\beta$(1 $\mu$g/ml) at 39$^{\circ}C$ under 5% $CO_2$ in air for 24 hours. Sperm from caudal epididyrnis and previously matured cumulus-oocytes complexes were cultured for 24 hours in 100 $\mu$l droplets of fertilization media under paraffin oil. The zygotes were cultured with media(TCM-199 with bovine oviductal epithelial cells or CRlaa) for 7 to 10 days. The cleavage rate of IVM-IVF oocytes was significantly (P<0.05) higher following maturation using Ham's F-10 (59.9%) than TCM-199 (51.6%). Development to the blastocysts among cleaved embryos was not signficantly different between maturation media: Ham's F-10 (16.0%) and TCM-199(11.9%). However, the hatching rate was affected significantly (P<0.05) on rnaturation media as 62.9% in Ham's F-10, compared with 41.2% in TCM-199. The cleavage rate of IVM-IVF oocytes was significantly (P<0.05) higher following IVF using m-TALP medium (80.1%) than BO medium (51.6%). The percentage of in vitro developed blastocysts among cleaved embryos was not signficantly different between fertimization media: BO (11.7%) and m-TALP (17.6%). The cleavage and the developmental rate to the blastocysts after IVF in m-TALP or condition medium(CM) with or without oviduct epithelial cell monolayer(OECM) was similar(80.1% and 17.6% in m-TALP, 83.8% and 19.4% in M-TALP with OECM. 82.9% and 18.9% in CM, 87.6% and 16.0% in CM with OECM, respectively). The percentage of in vitro developed blastocysts among cleaved embryos was significantly (P<0.05) higher in TCM-199 medium co-cul tured with bovine oviduatal epithelial cell monolayers(35.2%) than CRlaa medium(1.9%). These results stggest that the most transferable IVF embryos could be produced from Ham's F-10, m-TALP and TCM-199 medium with bovine oviductal epithelial cell monolayers for IVM, IVF and IVC, respectively.

  • Oranges (Citrus unshiu var.) from local orchards at Seogwi, Daejeong, Hanrim, Cheju and Seongsan where are in the southern, southwestern, northwestern, northern and eastern parts of Cheju island respectively were stored in a semi-underground room and an air-circulating refrigerated store. To compare the storage qualities between the growing districts, changes in freshness, acidity and sugar content of oranges were investigated during storage. 1) Oranges from Seogwi and Cheju districts showed remarkably lower Percentage of rot fruits with no relation of storage temperature than those of Hanrim, Daejeong and Seongsan. 2) Browning of oil gland was severe on oranges of northern and southern districts while it was little developed in case of the other districts. 3) Water soluble total sugar content was gradually increased and titratable acidity and reducing sugar content of pulp tissues was decreased during storage. 4) Oranges from the western part showed the higher ratio of sugar content to acidity and better taste as compared with the east oranges.

  • Recently. the interest in Physical distribution has increased in economic geography This paper aims to review and prospect the internatonal physical distribution studies of international trade and international freight flows. And it has examined the changes in methodology of international physical distribution. Author has defined international physical distribution as the physical distribution of international trade and international freight flow The results are as follows : (1) As the methodology of international physical distribution studies developes, the physical distribution should be recognized not only as transportation phenomenon but also as total logistics which is understood as the combination of production and consumption including information flow. (2) The studies about model of international physical distribution flow ill need to study regional relations including urban, in the future. And economic geography and location theory adding culture and behaviour elements will be restructured, because not only state but also multinational corporation appear as trade subject in global economy. (3) The studies for the relation of habor and its hinterland in Physical distribution need to analyze the factors causing habor use with decision-making behaviour of corporation. (4) After oil crisis. as air freight is important, the studies for hinterland and foreland of freight centering international airport are needed because of necessity of light and small freight. flexible Production system, free trade, and high speed freight transportation of freshing food and flowers and so forth.

  • Volatile flavor components of garlic and factors which influence on its flavors were reviewed. Growth, storage and processing conditions influence on the flavor intensity of garlic. To intensify garlic flavors, it is desirable that sufficient sulfate nutrition be supplied to the soil of growing garlic and that the suggested proportions of mineral composition and water content be considered. And to maintain the flavor intensity of post harvested garlic, flavor losses taken place during over inter storage mainly due to respiration, sprout and decay, have to be minimized. Among the various storage methods, combination method of post harvest hot-air drying and low temperature ($0^{\circ}C$), low humidity (RH 70-75%) is useful. The flavor of processed garlic is very much decreased as compared with that of fresh, and the decreasing rate of flavors depends on processing method. The synthetic garlic flavors were obtained by three types based on intermediate thiosulfinate, S-alk(en) yl-$\small{L}$-cyteine sulfoxlde-alliinase fission products and $\small{L}$-5-alk (en)yl thiomethylhydantoin ${\pm}$ S-oxides. These synthetic garlic flavors may be promised to be applied to food additives.
