What Influences YouTube Viewers' Job Engagement? The Role of Vlog Content Characteristics, Vlogger Characteristics, and Educational Value

  • YouTube has become a popular platform for vlogs. Among various forms of vlogs, office worker vlogs, in which a person engaged in a specific job shows his/her work environment and daily routine, are gaining popularity. Thus, focusing on office worker vlogs, the present research investigates the effects of office worker vlogs' characteristics (i.e., vlog content characteristics, vlogger characteristics) on the YouTube viewers' educational value of the vlog and their job engagement. Specifically, this research examines whether(1) vlog content characteristics (i.e., usefulness, accessibility, and vividness) and (2) vlogger characteristics (i.e., job similarity, credibility, and expertise) influence the YouTube viewers' educational value of the vlog. Moreover, this research examines how the YouTube viewers' educational value of the vlog affects their job engagement. With a sample of YouTube viewers of office worker vlogs (N = 215), structural equation modelling was implemented to investigate the relationships in the proposed model. The results indicate that (1) perceived usefulness of the office worker vlog is positively associated with the educational value of the vlog; (2) perceived accessibility of the office worker vlog is positively associated with the educational value of the vlog, albeit marginally significant; (3) perceived vividness of the office worker vlog is positively associated with the educational value of the vlog; (4) perceived job similarity to the office worker vlogger is positively associated with the educational value of the vlog; (5) perceived credibility of the office worker vlogger is positively associated with the educational value of the vlog; (6) perceived expertise of the office worker vlogger is positively associated with the educational value of the vlog; and (7) the educational value of the office worker vlog is positively associated with the YouTube viewers' job engagement. The findings provide important implications for the production and use of office worker vlog contents.

사무직 종사자가 일상생활에서 노출되는 VOCs 농도와 화학물질과민증 자각증상에 관한 연구 (MCS/IEI and Personal Exposures of VOCs in Office Worker)

  • In our previous research, office workers are relatively frequent in self-reported symptoms suggestive of MCS/IEI compare to construction worker who highly exposed to VOCs compounds. However in that research, the subjects were too small to say it clearly. Based on that research results, self reported symptom surveys to 110 office workers and personal exposure concentration measurement were conducted to 13 of people. VOCs exposure levels were measured within office, house and other places during a week by Passive Sampling Method. In this study, it was found that the number of office workers who met the operational criteria of MCS/IEI was 23.6% similar to 24.5% of previous result, and average of TVOC concentration was appeared high state by order of office, house, and personal exposure.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop furniture design for work space of Office based on the research of furniture design and the survey on the design of the office furniture. The office furniture Is designed in order to use the space flexibly and for the user design in the work space. The furniture type of solo worker on characteristic kinds of works should have a simple shape and it should be safe and easy to move because it has a structural function. The furniture in office should be designed in consideration of moveing line while working. The development of furniture in office which suit human body should be made in consideration of human factors and the study on furniture design in office. As above mentioned, to research and study on the furniture design of working furniture in office which reduces fatigue resulted from labor for office, human factors aspect should be considered, furthermore psychological, mental approach to Ideal solution should be made.

A Study on Office Environment Satisfaction and Worker's Subjective Symptoms

  • Objective:This study aims to investigate the correlation between office environment satisfaction levels and workers' subjective symptoms by conducting surveys asking office workers to state their subjective symptoms and office satisfaction levels. Background: The increased number of office workers and their work hours have led to new understandings of the importance of office environments including its temperature, humidity, noise levels, lighting, space arrangements, and quality of air. Method: Specific details on office work, office environment, office space satisfaction levels, workplace related symptoms, absence from work, due to workplace-related symptoms, were analyzed based on the survey answers given by 451 office workers who were the subjects of this research. Results: Office workers showed different characteristics of subjective symptoms depending on their gender, age, work experience, and time spent resting and on computers. Also, differences in symptoms were found for workers with different satisfaction levels for office environment (temperature, humidity, noise levels, quality of air, lighting) and office space arrangements (location of monitors, area and display of office space, chairs and desks). Conclusion and Application: Relationship between workers' satisfaction levels with the office environment and their subjective symptoms is expected to be serve as essential data for systematic management of the workplace.

  • 본 연구는 노인복지시설 종사자 재직기간에 따른 직무요인, 조직성과의 모형정립에 관해 연구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이론적 배경에서 노인복지시설에 관한 문헌 검토와 노인복지시설 종사자의 직무요인 및 조직성과에 대한 제이론을 검토하였다. 이론을 근거로 실증적 자료의 분석을 통하여 노인복지시설 종사자의 직무요인이 조직성과에 미치는 인과관계의 영향요인에 대한 재직기간의 조절효과를 검증하고자 한다. 노인복지시설 종사자의 직무요인인 보수, 승진, 조직풍토, 업무환경, 조직구조가 조직성과인 직무만족과 조직몰입 및 충성도에 개인특성요인인 재직기간에 따라 다르게 영향을 미칠 것으로 가정한다. 실증적 분석에서는 연구대상에 대한 인구통계학적 분석과 연구모형에 대한 적합도를 검증하며, 구조방정식모형을 통해 가설검증과 조절효과 분석을 실행하고자 한다.

  • 직장이 아닌 곳에서 근무하는 스마트워크는 조직과 조직 구성원 모두에게 도움이 되는 미래지향적인 근무 방식으로 최근 화두가 되고 있다. 본 연구는 콜센터를 운영하고 있는 기업을 대상으로 직장근무자와 스마트워크 근무자간의 서비스풍토, 직무만족, 조직몰입, 서비스수행능력 등 조직 관련 주요 변수에 대한 인식 차이를 조사하였다. 분석 결과, 스마트워크 근무자들이 직장근무자들에 비해 서비스풍토에 대한 인식이나 직무만족이나 조직몰입, 서비스수행능력 등 모든 측면에서 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 스마트워크의 활성화를 위한 시사점과 정책 방안을 제시하였다.

기혼 직장인의 라이프스타일에 따른 직무스트레스, 직장-가정 갈등 및 정신건강 간의 관계 (Relationship of Job-stress, Work-family Conflict, and Mental Health according to Life-style of Married Office Worker)

  • 본 연구는 기혼 직장인을 대상으로 라이프스타일에 따른 직무스트레스, 직장-가정갈등 및 정신건강의 정도 및 관계를 파악하기 위해 실시되었다. 연구결과 기혼직장인의 라이프스타일은 창작지향형: 28.6%이 가장 많은 비율을 차지하고 있었고, 자아신뢰형: 26.5%, 가족중심형: 18.4%, 성공지향형: 13.5%, 모범책임형: 13.0% 순으로 분류되었다. 라이프스타일에 따라 직장-가정갈등과 정신건강에는 유의한 차이가 있었으며, 창작지향형의 경우 직장-가정갈등을 가장 크게 느끼고 있었고, 정신건강이 가장 좋지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 자아신뢰형, 가족중심형, 모범책임형과 창작지향형은 직무스트레스와 직장-가정갈등 간에 유의한 양의 상관관계가 있었으며, 모범책임형은 직장-가정갈등과 정신건강 간에 음의 상관관계가 있었다. 창작지향형과 성공지향형은 직무스트레스와 정신건강 간에 양의 상관관계가 있었다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 대상자의 라이프스타일에 따른 차이를 고려하여, 직장인의 높은 직무스트레스를 줄여주고, 직장-가정갈등 해결과 정신건강 향상에 도움이 될 수 있는 직장 내의 사회적 지지자원 확보와 치료적인 사회 심리적 간호중재를 개발이 필요함을 알 수 있다.

직장내 성별 성희롱 인식에 관한 연구 (Recognition according to gender of sexual harassment in the office)

  • The purpose of this study was examine and clarify the recognition according to gender of sexual harassment in the office. The samples were consisted of 250 employees in a seoul headquarter and 13 branches of S bank. the data were analyzed using percentage, frequency, mean, 1-test, F-test and ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows; 1) female workers recognized sexual harassment as severe problem, but male workers as minor and trivial things. 2) workers recognized the cause of sexual harassment as female low position in the office and sexual distinction 3) workers recognized sexual harassment type as visual, verbal and physical harassment. 4) workers recognized the main assaulters of sexual harassment as male senior workers and co-workers. 5) worker recognized place of harassment as times of workers' dining together. 6) worker recognized the victim of sexual harassment was apt to experience anger, hurt of self-respect, shame and embarrassment. 7) female workers recognized necessity of sexual education but male workers none of it.

Gender Difference in the Perceived Brand Authenticity of Office Worker

  • The central objective of this paper is to check different effects developed by interaction with a gender and brand attributes related to the brand authenticity such as brand authority and brand ethicality. The survey method was used for this paper, and data from a total of 136 office workers were used for the analysis. The data were analyzed using smartPLS, a structural equation modeling tool. The results of the analysis are summarized as follows. First, brand authority has a significant effect on brand authenticity in both male and female. Second, brand ethicality has a significant effect on brand authenticity in only male. Third, brand authenticity has a significant effect on purchase and word-of-mouth intention in only male. Therefore brand authority is the determinant of the perceived brand authenticity. The findings have significant implications which the study inquires into the gender difference in the perceived brand authenticity of consumers.

한국인 강점 척도를 기반으로 한 업무 유형에 따른 대표 강점 발현의 차이 (Difference of Expressed Character Strengths, the Type of Work : Classification as Per the Korean Strength Scale)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to verify the differences of expressed character strengths graded as per the Korean Strength Scale, based on the type of work. Methods : A total of 2,444 conglomerate workers were classified into two groups: 1,356 office workers and 1,088 production workers. The subjects were examined through a web or mobile application based on the Korean Strength Scale. The Korean Strength Scale consists of a total of four top entries and 25 sub-items with appropriate validity. Results : The difference in the average score of sum of character strengths between the two groups was not significant. In the office worker group, character strengths such as love of learning, creativity, perspective, curiosity, facilitation, judgment and faith had significantly high scores. On the other hands, modesty, hope, gratitude, sincerity, magnanimity and self-regulation were high in the production worker group. The results remained unchanged in additional analysis of covariants as sex, age and education level, except for self-regulation and faith. Conclusion : Our results suggest significant differences in the character strengths between the two types of work; however, the average of sum of character strength score remains unchanged. These results may help to understand differences between work environments and thus help to establish a positive foundation.
