  • Purpose: This study was performed to evaluate the uniqueness and reliability of the frontal sinuses by comparing various patterns of frontal sinus as observed on Waters' radiographs for individual identification. Materials and Methods: Three Waters' radiographs of 100 individuals, taken on day one, after 6-8 months, and one radiograph with a slight variation in angulation, to mimic conditions out in the field or during autopsy. Three observers were randomly given radiographs from all there packets for comparisons and identification, by the method of superimposition and individual uniqueness. Results: The comparative identification by superimposition of the frontal sinus was 100% positive. The size, shape, unilateral or bilateral presence, absence, and septa were observed to be unique in each case; neither had the measurements changed over a period of time. Conclusion: The need to establish a reliable, low-cost, and easily reproducible method for human identification prompted the elaboration of technical, precise, and accessible parameters, such as the evaluation of the area, asymmetry, and shape of the frontal sinus. Comparison among each of the frontal sinuses of the 100 people in the sample revealed that no two sinuses are the same, that is, the sinus is unique to each individual.

  • This paper describes the design of a robust output-feedback controller for a single-input single-output nonlinear dynamical system with a full relative degree. While all the previous research works on the output-feedback control are based on dynamic observers, a new state estimator which uses the past values of the measurable system output is proposed. We name it backward-difference state estimator since the derivatives of the output are estimated simply by backward difference of the present and past values of the output. The disturbance generated due to the error between the estimated and real state variables is compensated using an additional robustifying control law whose gain is tuned adaptively. Overall control system guarantees that the tracking error is asymptotically convergent and that all signals involved are uniformly bounded. Theoretical results are illustrated through a simulation example of inverted pendulum.

  • The perceptual characteristic on the slope scenery around highway is very similar as the general perceptual characteristic in the landscape. This process determines by the relationship between the scenery observers and the characteristics of its place. It is very important to have a analysis on highway slope scenery in our particular culture in Korea since our country's highways are done by cutting mountains : therefore, we have a lot of slopes around highways. The physical characteristics on the highway scenery determines how we should build scenery around highway to a satisfactory level. The results drawn from this research work are as follow: 1) The satisfaction for slope scene had been affected by sex, native and experience of travel. I thought that the slope scene having peculiar form will offer the highest satisfaction. 2) Psychological factor, reflected satisfaction of slope scene, 몽 a grip of three factors as the factor of evaluation, texture, formation, and presumption formula is : Satisfaction=1.04(Evauluation factor)+0.83(Texture factor)+0.15(Formation factor)+4.28)R2=0.69). 3) Vine among the vegetation componeents of slope scene highly correlated with the evaluation factor and grass, shrub correlated with the texture factor. 4) Rock among the structual components of slope scene highly correlated with the formation factor, and stockade, lattice correlated with the evalution factor. 5) Gradient among the properties which determined slope form, highly correlated with the formation factor.

  • Recently, IT Governance has emerged as the new keyword in the IT world. However, the multiple definitions and concepts that exist for this word are causing confusion among observers. Thus, in order to clarify the conceptual meaning behind the term 'IT Governance' once and for all, this study reviews previous literature and defines the sub construct of IT Governance. Then, we develop the measurement instrument for IT Governance, which results in three domains: IT resource and performance management. IT project management, and IT service management.

  • Multi-view function is important to three-dimensional displays without dedicated glasses. It is the reason that the observers earnestly desire to change their positions freely. Multi-viewing is also principal to the reality of three-dimensional (3D) image displayed on the screen. The display of projection type has the advantage that the number of viewing points can be easily increased according to the number of projectors. The authors research on multi-view projection display with hologram screen. Powerful directionality of the diffracted beam from hologram screen is required unlike two-dimensional (2D) display. We developed a new method that all diffracted beams satisfied the same Bragg condition and became sufficiently bright to observe the 3D image under usual indoor light. The principle is based on the essential Bragg diffraction in the three-dimensional space. Owing to such three-dimensional Bragg diffraction we achieved an excellent hologram screen that could be multiple reconstructed in spite of single recording. This hologram screen is able to answer arbitrary numbers of viewing points within wide viewing zone. The distortion of 3D image becomes also sufficiently small with the method of dividing the cross angle between illumination and diffraction beam.

  • E-business has received much attention from entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and industry observers recently. The Internet is flourishing and the World Wide Web is growing at an exponential rate. In recent years, information has become the critical commodity needed for success in the changing global economic order. Accordingly, business organizations have come to the conclusion that they require an extensive data repository in order to acquire a competitive advantage in a dynamically change market. This rich assortment of data must further be delivered and deliverable enterprise-wide in a secure and cost-efficient manner. Information technology(IT) has created the E-business as a vitally important mechanism for the storage, dissemination, and even the analysis data. The E-business has become increasingly important to a growing number of organizations in Korea in relatively short order. The present study is an attempt to develop a more through understanding of the potential and actual impact of the B-business on organizational functions and activities. Expecially, it also consists of an effort to assess the impact of the E-business on profitability. The research also addresses the issue of how the E-business affects profitability and shapes or modifies business activities. The results of literature review and study revealed that middle managers believe that the extent of the I-business use is significantly related to improvements in overall organizational functions and activities. While communication, decision-making, productivity, work collaboration, and business activities are all enhanced by E-business use, profitability appears to be most dramatically improved by Intranet use.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to estimate validity of posterior anterior cephalometric and 3D-CT for orbital canting analysis. Materials and methods: Three trained observers classified two patients group using standardized frontal photographs of facial asymmetry patients. Group A consisted of patients with facial asymmetry and orbital canting(n=19), and group B consisted of patients with only facial asymmetry(n=43). Orbital canting was measured with line of bilateral inferior orbitale. Orbital canting measurement was done with posterior anterior cephalometric and 3D-CT. Each horizontal reference line was established by bilateral GWSO(cephalometric), FZS(3D-CT). Maxillary canting and mandibular deviation angle were also measured and analyzed with orbital canting. Results: The mean orbital canting was $3.03{\pm}1.00^{\circ}$ in Group A and $1.11{\pm}0.76^{\circ}$ in Group B in frontal photograph. The mean orbital canting was $1.20{\pm}0.74^{\circ}$ in group A and $1.22{\pm}0.65^{\circ}$ in group B by cephalometric analysis(p>0.05). In 3D-CT, orbital canting was almost paralleled with horizontal reference line. The orbital canting, maxillay canting and mandibular deviation between two groups showed no significant differences except madibular deviation in 3D-CT. Conclusion: Common analysis of posterior anterior cephalometric and 3D-CT is not valide method to evaluate orbital canting for facial asymmetry patients with orbital canting.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of patient surveillance on nurses' adherence to the guidelines on peripheral vascular catheter management. Method: A one group time series design was used. Seventy six nurses participated in the study. The data were collected from October 1 to November 4, 2008. Result: The effects of patient surveillance were significant on nurses' average adherence rates to the guidelines estimated by observers and by themselves, and the levels of nurses self recognition on the importance of the guidelines. In addition, overall occurrence rates of phlebitis tend to decrease after patients surveillance. Even though 33 nurses didn't follow the guidelines perfectly, most patients did not provide feedbacks to the nurses' non-adherence. Among the nurse participants, 36.8% answered that patient surveillance was acceptable. Conclusion: This study found that patients with peripheral catheters could positively influence nurses' adherence to the catheter management guidelines. Therefore, inviting patients in nursing activities could benefit to the quality of patients care. However, it seems essential to create an environment fostering nurses' acceptance of the patients' surveillance. Further research warrants the potential benefits of the patient's participations in nursing activities.

  • This research was made to investigate the change of the image layer and of the vertical and horizontal magnification on the Panelipse radiographic image by the control of profile index. Using the Panelipse, a series of 60 exposures were taken with the steel balls placed in the holes of the plastic model plate, and then evaluated by 4 observers. Two points were assigned for a reading of sharp, one for middling sharp, and zero for unsharp. Each ball image then could be given a total reader score of 0 to 8. The author analyzed the image layer as defined by a sharpness score of 6 or more. The results obtained were as follows: As the profile index was increased, the shape of the image layer was not changed, and the width of the image layer was increased, and the position of the layer shifted away from the rotation center. As the profile index was increased, the ranges of vertical and horizontal magnification was increased, especially the ranges of horizontal magnification was greater than that of vertical magnification.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of toddler's temperament and toddler-teacher relationship on their peer interaction, focusing on gender differences. A total of 221 toddlers(122 boys and 99 girls) attending 16 child care centers in South Korea participated in this study. Each toddler was observed during a free-play period in the classroom over 4 sessions of 5 minutes, so a total of 20 minutes was measured. Two observers scored recorded observation scenes with two peer interaction criteria, including interaction initiation and interaction participation level. The main results of this study are as follows: First, there was a signigicant gender difference in peer interaction and toddler's temperament and toddler-teacher relationship. Second, the factor of toddler-teacher relationship significantly predicted the boys' peer interaction, while for the girls, the significant predictor was intentional control of temperamental factors. Further, implications for different approaches according to the gender difference of the affecting factor on toddlers' peer interaction have been discussed.
