An effective algorithm for tracking rigid or non-rigid moving object(s) which segments local moving parts from image sequence in the presence of backgraound motion by camera movenment, predicts the direction of it, and tracks the object is proposed. It requires no camera calibration and no knowledge of the installed position of camera. In order to segment the moving object, feature points configuring the shape of moving object are firstly selected, feature flow field composed of motion vectors of the feature points is computed, and moving object(s) is (are) segmented by clustering the feature flow field in the multi-dimensional feature space. Also, we propose IRMAS, an efficient algorithm that finds the convex hull in order to cinstruct the shape of moving object(s) from clustered feature points. And, for the purpose of robjst tracking the objects whose movement characteristics bring about the abrupt change of moving trajectory, an improved order adaptive lattice structured linear predictor is used.

There have been a lot of researches on object recognition in computer vision. The SURF(Speeded Up Robust Features) algorithm based on feature detection is faster and more accurate than others. However, this algorithm has a shortcoming of making an error due to feature point mismatching when extracting feature points. In order to increase a success rate of object recognition, we have created an object recognition system based on SURF and RANSAC(Random Sample Consensus) algorithm and proposed the pattern recognition filtering. We have also presented experiment results relating to enhanced the success rate of object recognition.
Visual tracking of selected target objects is fundamental challenging problems in computer vision. Object tracking localize the region of target object with bounding box in the video. We propose a Siam-FPN based custom fully CNN to solve visual tracking problems by regressing the target area in an end-to-end manner. A method of preserving the feature information flow using a feature map connection structure was applied. In this way, information is preserved and emphasized across the network. To regress object region and to classify object, the region proposal network was connected with the Siamese network. The performance of the tracking algorithm was evaluated using the OTB-100 dataset. Success Plot and Precision Plot were used as evaluation matrix. As a result of the experiment, 0.621 in Success Plot and 0.838 in Precision Plot were achieved.

Mobile devices such as smartphones are very attractive targets for augmented reality (AR) services, but their limited resources make it difficult to increase the number of objects to be recognized. When the recognition process is scaled to a large number of objects, it typically requires significant computation time and memory. Therefore, most large-scale mobile AR systems rely on a server to outsource recognition process to a high-performance PC, but this limits the scenarios available in the AR services. As a part of realizing large-scale standalone mobile AR, this paper presents a solution to the problem of accuracy, memory, and speed for large-scale object recognition. To this end, we design our own basic feature and realize spatial locality, selective feature extraction, rough pose estimation, and selective feature matching. Experiments are performed to verify the appropriateness of the proposed method for realizing large-scale standalone mobile AR in terms of efficiency and accuracy.

In this paper we propose a feature point tracking algorithm using optical flow under non-prior taming active feature model (NPT-AFM). The proposed algorithm mainly focuses on analysis non-rigid objects[1], and provides real-time, robust tracking by NPT-AFM. NPT-AFM algorithm can be divided into two steps: (i) localization of an object-of-interest and (ii) prediction and correction of the object position by utilizing the inter-frame information. The localization step was realized by using a modified Shi-Tomasi's feature tracking algoriam[2] after motion-based segmentation. In the prediction-correction step, given feature points are continuously tracked by using optical flow method[3] and if a feature point cannot be properly tracked, temporal and spatial prediction schemes can be employed for that point until it becomes uncovered again. Feature points inside an object are estimated instead of its shape boundary, and are updated an element of the training set for AFH Experimental results, show that the proposed NPT-AFM-based algerian can robustly track non-rigid objects in real-time.

With the remarkable growth in rich media in recent years, people are increasingly exposed to visual information from the environment. Visual information continues to play a vital role in rich media because people's real interests lie in dynamic information. This paper proposes a novel discrete dynamic swarm optimization (DDSO) algorithm for video object tracking using invariant features. The proposed approach is designed to track objects more robustly than other traditional algorithms in terms of illumination changes, background noise, and occlusions. DDSO is integrated with a matching procedure to eliminate inappropriate feature points geographically. The proposed novel fitness function can aid in excluding the influence of some noisy mismatched feature points. The test results showed that our approach can overcome changes in illumination, background noise, and occlusions more effectively than other traditional methods, including color-tracking and invariant feature-tracking methods.
When we see an object, we usually can say what it is easily even for the case where the object isn't shown in the frontal view. However, it is difficult to believe that all views of every object we have ever seen are fully memorized in our brain. Possibly, when an object is shown, we have some typical views of the object in our brain through our past experience and reconstruct the view to recognize what the presented object is. Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) is one of the methods to extract the basis images from sample data set. The prominent feature of this method is that the reconstructed image is obtained by only additions of the basis images with suitable positive weights. So NMF can be seen more biologically plausible method than any other feature extraction methods such as Vector Quantization (VQ) and principal Component Analysis (PCA). In this paper, we adopt NMF to extract the aspect features from the set of images, which consists of various views of a given object. Some experiments are shown how much well NMF can extract the aspect features than any other methods such as VQ and PCA.

The object recognition mechanism of human being is not well understood yet. On research of animal experiment using an ape, however, neurons that respond to simple shape (e.g. circle, triangle, square and so on) were found. And Hypothesis has been set up as human being may recognize object as combination of such simple shapes. That mechanism is called Figure Alphabet Hypothesis, and those simple shapes are called Figure Alphabet. As one way to research object recognition algorithm, we focused attention to this Figure Alphabet Hypothesis. Getting idea from it, we proposed the feature extraction algorithm for object recognition. In this paper, we described recognition of binarized images of multifont alphabet characters by the recognition model which combined three-layered neural network in the feature extraction algorithm. First of all, we calculated the difference between the learning image data set and the template by the feature extraction algorithm. The computed finite difference is a feature quantity of the feature extraction algorithm. We had it input the feature quantity to the neural network model and learn by backpropagation (BP method). We had the recognition model recognize the unknown image data set and found the correct answer rate. To estimate the performance of the contriving recognition model, we had the unknown image data set recognized by a conventional neural network. As a result, the contriving recognition model showed a higher correct answer rate than a conventional neural network model. Therefore the validity of the contriving recognition model could be proved. We'll plan the research a recognition of natural image by the contriving recognition model in the future.

The construction of panoramic images on smartphones and low-powered devices is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a new approach for smoothly stitching images on mobile phones in the presence of moving objects in the scene. Our main contributions include handling moving object problems, reducing processing time, and generating rectangular panoramic images. First, unique and robust feature points are extracted using fast ORB method and a feature matching technique is applied to match the extracted feature points. After obtaining good matched feature points, we employ the non-deterministic RANSAC algorithm to discard wrong matches, and the hommography transformation matrix parameters are estimated with the algorithm. Afterward, we determine precise overlap regions of neighboring images and calculate their absolute differences. Then, thresholding operation and noise removal filtering are applied to create a mask of possible moving object regions. Sequentially, an optimal seam is estimated using dynamic programming algorithm, and a combination of linear blending with the mask information is applied to avoid seam transition and ghosting artifacts. Finally, image-cropping operation is utilized to obtain a rectangular boundary image from the stitched image. Experiments demonstrate that our method is able to produce panoramic images quickly despite the existence of moving objects.

A new feature-based motion parameter estimation for arbitrary-shaped regions is proposed. Existing motion parameter estimation algorithms such as gradient-based algorithm require iterations that are very sensitive to initial values and which often converge to a local minimum. In this paper, the motion parameters of an object are obtained by solving a set of linear equations derived by the motion of salient feature points of the object. In order to estimate the displacement of the feature points, a new process called the "bi-directional correspondence scheme" is proposed to ensure the robjstness of correspondence. The proposed correspondence scheme iteratively selects the feature points and their corresponding points until unique one-to-one correspondence is established. Furthermore, initially obtained motion paramerters are refined using an iterative method to give a better performance. The proposed algorithm can be used for motion estimationin object-based image coder, and the experimental resuls show that the proposed method outperforms existing schemes schemes in estimating motion parameters of objects in image sequences.sequences.
