Cisplatin, a platinum coordinated complex, is a widely used antineoplastic agent for the treatment of metastatic tumors of the testis, metastatic ovarian tumors, lung cancer, advanced bladder cancer and many other solid tumors. The cytotoxic action of the drug is often thought to be associated with its ability to bind DNA to form cisplatin-DNA adducts. The development of resistance to cisplatin during treatment is common and constitutes a major obstacle to the cure of sensitive tumors. Although to understand the clinically relevant mechanisms of resistance, many studies have been aimed at clarifying the biochemical/molecular alterations of cisplatin-resistance cells, these studies did not conclusively identify the basis of cellular resistance to cisplatin. In this review, cisplatin resistance was discussed in terms of the relevant transporters, such as copper transporters (CTRs), organic cation transporters (OCTs) and multi-drug resistance related transporters (MDRs). These transporters seem to be contributed to cisplatin resistance through the reduction of drug accumulation in the cell. Better understanding the mechanism of cisplatin resistance associated with transporters will provide the useful informations for overcoming the cisplatin resistance.
A wide variety of drugs and endogenous bioactive amines are organic cations (OCs). Approximately 40% of all conventional drugs on the market are OCs. Thus, the transport of xenobiotics or endogenous OCs in the body has been a subject of considerable interest, since the discovery and cloning of a family of OC transporters, referred to as organic cation transporter (OCTs), and a new subfamily of OCTs, OCTNs, leading to the functional characterization of these transporters in various systems including oocytes and some cell lines. Organic cation transporters are critical in drug absorption, targeting, and disposition of a drug. In this review, the recent advances in the characterization of organic cation transporters and their distribution in the small intestine are discussed. The results of the in vitro transport studies of various OCs in the small intestine using techniques such as isolated brush-border membrane vesicles, Ussing chamber systems and Caco-2 cells are discussed, and in vivo knock-out animal studies are summarized. Such information is essential for predicting pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics and in the design and development of new cationic drugs. An understanding of the mechanisms that control the intestinal transport of OCs will clearly aid achieving desirable clinical outcomes.
A recurring eddy which located at the terminal end of the Korean East Warm Current was captured on ocean color and sea surface temperature imagery from satellite in spring and autumn. During late April, 1997 thermal infrared imagery from the NOAA AVHRR sensor and ocean color data from the Japanese ADEOS-I OCTS sensor, revealed this feature. The cold core had elevated chlorophyll concentrations, based on OCTS estimates, of greater than 3 mg/m$^3$ while the warmer surrounding waters had chlorophyll concentrations of 1 mg/m$^3$ or less. The elevated cholophyll accociated with this eddy has not been previously described. The eddy is also evident in SST images from autumn, but the SST in the core is warmer than in spring, and the warm jet flowing to the west of the eddy is also warmer is autumn compared to spring. A reccurring eddy and the high chlorophyll_a concentration area which surround around the eddy show on NOAA and SeaWiFS images in March 2, 1998. The eddy forms at the northern extent of the Korean East Warm Current as those waters collide with the cold, south-flowing Liman Current over a topographic shelf about 1500 m deep. This region of the eddy formation appears to have a strong connection with the dynamics of the western part of the polar front eddy field that dominates surface mesoscale structure in the central East (Japan) Sea. Interaction of the eddy with ARGOW tracked drifters, and evidence for its persistence are discussed.

With advancements in machine learning technologies, artificial neural networks (ANNs) are being widely used to improve the performance of gamma-ray spectroscopy based on NaI(Tl) scintillation detectors. Typically, the performance of ANNs is evaluated using test datasets composed of actual spectra. However, the generation of such test datasets encompassing a wide range of actual spectra representing various scenarios often proves inefficient and time-consuming. Thus, instead of measuring actual spectra, we generated virtual spectra with diverse spectral features by sampling from categorical distribution functions derived from the base spectra of six radioactive isotopes: 54Mn, 57Co, 60Co, 134Cs, 137Cs, and 241Am. For practical applications, we determined the optimum counting time (OCT) as the point at which the change in the Kullback-Leibler divergence (ΔKLDV) values between the synthetic spectra used for training the ANN and the virtual spectra approaches zero. The accuracies of the actual spectra were significantly improved when measured up to their respective OCTs. The outcomes demonstrated that the proposed method can effectively determine the OCTs for gamma-ray spectroscopy based on ANNs without the need to measure actual spectra.
K490(Diffuse attenuation coefficient for downwelling irradiance at 490nm)은 OCTS, SeaWiFS, MODIS, MERIS 등의 해색자료에 의해 많은 자료가 생산되고 있으나 이를 이용한 한반도 주변 해역의 해양환경변동에 관한 연구는 부족한 실정이다.
Ad hoc network is a wireless network without fixed base stations or any wired backbone infrastructure. In the DUDMAC protocol, ORTS and OCTS in control channel solve the problem of deafness and DDATA and DACK in data channel improve spatial reuse by using the efficient blocking algorithm for directional antennas. In this paper, we propose the PCDUDMAC (Power Controlled DUDMAC) protocols. In the PCDUDMAC protocol, the power control of DATA/DACK in data channel saves transmission power and improves spatial reuse. We confirm the throughput performance of the proposed MAC protocol by computer simulations using Qualnet ver.3.8 simulator.
