  • Lysobacter antibioticus HS124 isolated from pepper rhizosphere soil produced catechol type siderophore. Purified siderophore by Diaion HP-20 and silica gel column chromatography showed several hydroxyl functional groups adjacent to benzene rings by analysis of $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy. The strain HS124 showed different activities to suppress Phytophthora capsici with different concentrations of exogenous Fe (III) in minimal medium where antifungal activity with $100{\mu}M$ Fe (III) was approximately 1.5 times higher than in absence of Fe (III). Bacterial population in this Fe (III)-amended medium was also highest with $8.9{\times}10^8\;CFU\;ml^{-1}$ which also corresponded to the strongest siderophore activity. When grown in rich medium (minimal medium with N, $P_2O_5K_2O$ and glucose), HS124 exhibited approximately 2 times stronger antifungal activity compared to minimal medium. In pot trials, treatments of bacterial culture grown in rich medium with (C1) or without (C2) $100{\mu}M$ Fe (III) exhibited a high protection of pepper plants from disease, compared to medium only with (M1) or without (M2) $100{\mu}M$ Fe (III). Especially, treatment C1 showed the best disease control effect of about 70 %. Thus, the strain HS124 should be recommended as a potential biocontrol agent against P. capsici in pepper.

  • Purpose: This study sought to evaluate the effects of bone graft wedging on the initial stability of implants in bone sites of unfavorable quality. Materials and Methods: Three male beagle dogs were used in this study. Osteotomies were performed with parallel drills (${\O}4.1{\times}10mm$), and fixtures (${\O}3.3{\times}8mm$) were placed. The control group was given implants without bone graft. Experiment group A was given implants with minimal initial stability using autobone grafts, whereas experiment group B was given xenografts. Groups were also divided by healing times at 4, 8, and 12 weeks. Results: All implants in the control group failed to osseointegrate. On the other hand, all implants in the experiment groups were clinically well-maintained during the entire experiment period. After 4, 8, and 12 weeks, bone-to-implant contact (BIC) ratio and implant stability quotient (ISQ) increased in the experiment groups. The differences between experiment groups A and B were not statistically significant, however. Conclusion: In unfavorable bone regions for dental implants, bone graft packing into the osteotomy prior to implant placement secured minimal initial stability and showed reasonable BIC ratios and ISQ values throughout the study period.

  • In this paper, we first will show that for any space X and any Wallman sublattice $\mathcal{A}$ of $\mathcal{R}(X)$ with $Z(X)^{\sharp}{\subseteq}\mathcal{A}$, (${\Phi}^{-1}_{\mathcal{A}}(X)$, ${\Phi}_{\mathcal{A}}$) is the minimal quasi-F cover of X if and only if (${\Phi}^{-1}_{\mathcal{A}}(X)$, ${\Phi}_{\mathcal{A}}$) is a quasi-F cover of X and $\mathcal{A}{\subseteq}\mathcal{Q}_X$. Using this, if X is a locally weakly Lindel$\ddot{o}$f space, the set {$\mathcal{A}|\mathcal{A}$ is a Wallman sublattice of $\mathcal{R}(X)$ with $Z(X)^{\sharp}{\subseteq}\mathcal{A}$ and ${\Phi}^{-1}_{\mathcal{A}}(X)$ is the minimal quasi-F cover of X}, when partially ordered by inclusion, has the minimal element $Z(X)^{\sharp}$ and the maximal element $\mathcal{Q}_X$. Finally, we will show that any Wallman sublattice $\mathcal{A}$ of $\mathcal{R}(X)$ with $Z(X)^{\sharp}{\subseteq}\mathcal{A}{\subseteq}\mathcal{Q}_X$, ${\Phi}_{\mathcal{A}_X}:{\Phi}^{-1}_{\mathcal{A}}(X){\rightarrow}X$ is $z^{\sharp}$-irreducible if and only if $\mathcal{A}=\mathcal{Q}_X$.

  • Habituation to alkali condition and susceptibility to antimicrobial agents were investigated to determine methods t inactivation Escherichia coli O157:H7 associated with food poisoning. The investigation showed that Escherichia coli O157:H7growth at pH 9.0 The susceptibilities of Escherichia coli O157:H7 to 13 drugs examined were found highest in regad to saicin and ceftriaxone and lowest in regard to erythromycin and josamycin. No significant changes in minimal inhibitory concen-tration(MIC) values of bactericidal effect was found when saicin and ceftriaxone were irradiated with doses of 5-100KGy.

  • The inhibitory effect of various organic acids on the growth and survival of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in tryptic soy broth with 0.6% yeast extract at 37$^{\circ}C$ or 4$^{\circ}C$ was determined. Minimal inhibitory pHs of acetic acid, citric acid, fumaric acid, hydrochloric acid and lactic acid were 5.0, 4.0, 4.5, 4.0 and 4.5, respectively. Acetic acid (0.012 m) showed the strongest antimicrobial activity, based on the pH values or equivalent molar concentrations, followed by lactic acid (0.0006 M), fumaric acid (0.004M) and citirc acid (0.004 M), respectively, E. coli O157:H7 with an initial inoculum of {TEX}$10^{7}${/TEX} CFU/ml and {TEX}$10^{5}{/TEX} CFU/ml in tryptic soy broth supplemented with 0.6% yeast extract, acidified to target pH with citric, fumaric and lactic acids at 37$^{\circ}C$, was completely inactivated after 7 d and 5 d incubation, respectively, except for the acetic acid (9 d). The bactericidal effect decreased at the same pH when the incubation temperature a was reduced from 37$^{\circ}C$ to 4$^{\circ}C$. The pH values of 0.2% acetic (pH 5.1), 0.6% citric (pH 4.2) and 0.4% lactic acid (pH 4.3) in TSBYE were almost correspondent to the minimal inhibitory pH values on E. coli O157:H7 of acetic (pH 4.0), citric (pH 4.0) and lactic acids (pH 4.5).

  • The most Important research topic in the development of ZnO LED and LD is the production of p-type ZnO thin film that has minimal stress with outstanding stoichiometric ratio. In this study, Phosphorus diffused into the undoped ZnO thin films using the ampoule-tube method for the production of p-type znO thin films. The undoped ZnO thin films were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering system on $GaAs_{0.6}P_{0.4}$/GaP and Si wafers. 4N Phosphorus (P) was diffused into the undoped ZnO thin films in ampoule-tube which was performed and $630^{\circ}C$ during 3hr. We found the diffusion condition of the conductive ZnO films which had p-type properties with the highest mobility of above 532 $cm^2$/Vs compared with other studies PL spectra measured at 10K for the purpose of analyzing optical properties of p-type ZnO thin film showed strong PL intensity in the UV emission band around 365nm ~ 415nm and 365nm ~ 385nm.

  • Dependence of the crystallinity, surface roughness, carrier concentration, carrier mobility, electrical resistivity and transmittance of Al-doped ZnO films deposited on glass substrates by RF-magnetron sputtering on effects of the ratio of the RF power for AlZnO to that for ZnO (R) have been investigated. X-ray diffraction spectra show strong preferred orientation along the c-axis. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the ZnO (002) peak decreases slightly as R increases in the range of R<1.0, whereas it increases substantially in the range of R>1.0. Scanning electron micrographs (SEM) show that the ZnO film surface becomes coarse as R increases. The carrier concentration and the carrier mobility in the ZnO thin film are maximal for R=1.5 and 1.0, respectively. The electrical resistivity is minimal for R=1.0 The transmittance of the ZnO:Al film tends to increase, but to decrease slightly in the range of R>0.5. It may be concluded that the optimum R value is 1.0, considering all these analysis results. The cause of the changes in the structure and physical properties of ZnO thin films with R are also discussed.

  • In this paper we will discuss a type of inductive learning called learning from examples, whose task is to induce general description of concepts from specific instances of these concepts. In many real life situations, however, new instances can be added to the set of instances. It is first proposed within the framework of rough set theory, for such cases, an algorithm to find minimal set of rules for decision tables without recalculation for overcall set of instances. The method of learning presented here is base don a rough set concept proposed by Pawlak[2][11]. It is shown an algorithm to find minimal set of rules using reduct change theorems giving criteria for minimum recalculation with an illustrative example. Finally, the proposed learning algorithm is applied to fuzzy system to learn sampled I/O data.
