In the $(Pb_{1-x}M_x)[(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.05}Zr_yTi_{0.95-y}]O_3$ system, where M=Ca and Sr, the piezoelectric properties were evaluated to examine the possibility of application to piezoelectric transformer. A Rosen-type piezoelectric transformer was formed, then the electrical properties of voltage step-up ratio, frequency characteristics etc. were analysed. The morphotropic phase boundary was determined to be y=0.475 in $Pb[(Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.05}Zr_yTi_{0.95-y}]O_3$ system and the piezoelectric properties of this composition was kp=0.59, Qm=1600 and $\varepsilon_r$=1150. Moreover, when 1-2 mol% of Sr are substituted, enhanced piezoelectric properties of kp=0.61, Qm=1600 and $\varepsilon_r$=1400 were shown. The temperature rising (ΔT) of a piezoelectric transformer with $Pb[Mn_{1/3}Sb_{2/3})_{0.05}Zr_{0.475}Ti_{0.475})]O_3 $ composition was $10^{\circ}C$, and the voltage step-up ratio was 500 when the output voltage was 4000V, whereas the ΔT was below $3^{\circ}C$ and the resonant frequency variation ($\Delta f_r$) as a function of load resistance was below 5% when the output voltage was 2000 V. These characteristics are superior to the properties of materials, which were substituted by Ca or without substitution.

This paper presents the fabrication and performance evaluation of zinc oxide varistors for the arresters used for station system. ZnO varistors were fabricated with typical ceramic production methods and the structural and electrical characteristics were investigated. All varistors exhibited high density, which were in the range of $5.41{\sim}5.49g/cm^3$. In the electrical properties the reference voltage increased in the range of $4.410{\sim}5.250kV$ with increasing their thickness and the residual voltage exhibited the same trends as the reference voltage. In the long duration current impulse withstand test, E-2 and F-1 samples failed in the two and four shots, respectively, but E-1 and F-2 samples survived 18 shots during the test. Before and after this test, the variation ratio of residual voltage of E-1 and F-2 samples were -0.34% and 0.05%, respectively, which were in the acceptance range of 5%. According to the results of tests, it is thought that if the fabrication process such as insulating coating, sintering condition, and soldering method is improved, these ZnO varistors would be possible to apply to the station class arresters in the new future.

The studied area is composed of Precambrian gneiss complex, middle Jurassic biotite granite, late Cretaceour sediments, volcanics and pink feldspar granite. Characteristic minerals of the biotite granite is plagioclase and hornblende whereas the pink feldspar granite is pink feldspar (perthite) and quartz. Plagioclase compositions of the biotite granite and the pink feldspar granite are oligoclase to calcic andesine ($An_{18-44}$) and sodic albite ($An_{0.5-5.0}$), respectively. In the variation diagrams of the Harker and normative Q-Or-Pl diagram, the biotite granite belongs to the category from granodiorite to granite, the pink feldspar granite from nomal to late granite. The values of D.I. L.I. and alkalinity of the pink feldspar granite are higher than those of the biotite granite. While CaO is enriched in the biotite granite, $K_2O$ is enriched in the pink feldspar granite. The ratio of $K_2O/Na_2O$ which indicates the relative ratio of alkali is 1.06 in the pink feldspar granite, and 0.86 in the biotite granite. In A-M-F and N-C-K diagrams both these granites are plotted in peraluminus granite ($Al_2O_3$>$Na_2O+K_2O+CaO$) region, assigned to calc alkaline series and alkaline series respectively. Put into the form of A-C-F diagram, the biotite granite falls under I-type, and the pink feldspar granite S-type. On the base of whole rock ratios of $Fe^{+3}/Fe^{+2}+Fe^{+3}$ and $^{87}Sr/^{86}Sr$ for the granites in studied area, the biotite granite indicates ilmenite series (0.26) and S-type and/or contaminated I-type ($0.72020{\pm}0.00050$), the pink feldspar granite magnetite series (0.44) and I-type ($0.70826{\pm}0.00020$).

Zinc fluosilicate ($ZnSiF_6$, 15% aqueous solution) was prepared using zinc oxide (ZnO) and fluosilicic acid ($H_2SiF_6$) by soluiton synthetic method. The fluidity and hydration properties of cement which was added $ZnSiF_6$ (aq.) as an additive for cement were studied. At water to cement ratio (W/C) equals to 0.45, the initial fluidity and slump loss of cement paste which the addition of $ZnSiF_6$ (aq.) was increased from 1.0% to 4.0% based on cement weight were investigated. Initial fluidity of cement paste was measured by mini-slump test and slump loss was examined by measuring the fluidity variation of cement paste with time elapsed from 0 min to 120 min at intervals 30 min. Also, the effect of $ZnSiF_6$ addition on the setting and hydration of cement paste when $ZnSiF_6$ increased in the addition range 1.0% to 3.0% were investigated. The fluidity of cement paste which was added 2.1% $ZnSiF_6$ (aq.) presented the highest value among all addition ranges. The setting time of cement paste was retarded gradually and the heat evolution of hydrated cement was reduced with the increasing of $ZnSiF_6$ addition.
A dynamic simulation program of a catenary-pantograph system including tunnel section and transient section is developed in this study. The simulation program can accommodate for the pantograph of two panheads and three d.o.f model. Using the developed program, the dynamic characteristics with a SCHUNK'S WBL 85-PANTOGRAPH is analyzed at the conventional TAEBAEK line and its tunnel section when the catenary system is supported by a tunnel bracket. The simulation results show that the variation of contact force and uplift displacement is allowable in general section and the entrance and exit of a tunnel, but the uplift displacement and the separation ratio within tunnel section is difficult to allow.

This study was carried out to derive optimal design drought flows by the Weibull-3 and Wakeby distributions for the annual drought flows series at seven watersheds along Han, Nagdong, Geum, Yeongsan and Seomjin river systems. L-coefficient of variation , L-skewness and L-kurtosis were calculated by the L-moment ratio respectivley. Parameters were estimated by the Methods o fL-Moments with continuous duration. Design drought flows obtained by Methods of L-Moments using Weibull plotting positions formula in the Weibull-3 and Wakeby distributions were compared by the Relative Mean Errors(RME), Relative Absolute Errors (RAE) and Root Mean Square Errors(RMSE). It has shown that design drought flows by the Wakeby distribution using method of L-moments are much closer to those of the observed data in comparison with those obtained by the Weibull-3 distribution using method of L-moments.

The effect of nitrogen doping on the mechanical and tribological performance of single-layer tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C:N) coatings of up to $1{\mu}m$ in thickness was investigated using a custom-made filtered cathode vacuum arc (FCVA). The results obtained revealed that the hardness of the coatings decreased from $65{\pm}4.8GPa$ to $25{\pm}2.4GPa$ with increasing nitrogen gas ratio, which indicates that nitrogen doping occurs through substitution in the $sp^2$ phase. Subsequent AES analysis showed that the N/C ratio in the ta-C:N thick-film coatings ranged from 0.03 to 0.29 and increased with the nitrogen flow rate. Variation in the G-peak positions and I(D)/I(G) ratio exhibit a similar trend. It is concluded from these results that micron-thick ta-C:N films have the potential to be used in a wide range of functional coating applications in electronics. To achieve highly conductive and wear-resistant coatings in system components, the friction and wear performances of the coating were investigated. The tribological behavior of the coating was investigated by sliding an SUJ2 ball over the coating in a ball-on-disk tribo-meter. The experimental results revealed that doping using a high nitrogen gas flow rate improved the wear resistance of the coating, while a low flow rate of 0-10 sccm increased the coefficient of friction (CoF) and wear rate through the generation of hematite (${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$) phases by tribo-chemical reaction. However, the CoF and wear rate dramatically decreased when the nitrogen flow rate was increased to 30-40 sccm, due to the nitrogen inducing phase transformation that produced a graphite-like structure in the coating. The widths of the wear track and wear scar were also observed to decrease with increasing nitrogen flow rate. Moreover, the G-peaks of the wear scar around the SUJ2 ball on the worn surface increased with increasing nitrogen doping.
Experimental studies on determination of the supply leading time of propellants to combustion chamber have been made to stably and efficiently guarantee the ignition process with liquid rocket engine. The propellant used is a Jet A-1 as fuel and a liquid oxygen as oxidizer. Unlike impinging FOOF type of injectors are arranged radially and the designed O/F ratio is 2.34. The present experiment program also includes the stability on the quadlet type of ignitor using the triethylalumimum as an ignition source and injector life tests. Experimental results clarifies that the propellant supply through LOx leading to combustion chamber is proper for stable ignition and combustion processes based on the fuel and oxidizer manifold pressures, combustion chamber pressure, and the variation of flame length from the nozzle exit with lapse time, and shows that the leading supply time of propellants affects the engine performance little. The effect of positioning cooling holes is remarkable to protect the injector face.

An experimental investigation was conducted to clarify the combustion characteristics of Polyethylene-GOX(PE-GOX) hybrid motor using a single-port fuel grain configuration. Data from the experiments were analyzed to evaluate the length-averaged regression rate of PE-GOX propellants. Based on the existing theories, the empirical regression rate formulas provided from Marxman[3,4] and Altman[14] showed good concordance with the PE-GOX experiments. The accuracy of the regression rate was then evaluated and compared with the measured one. As a result, Marxman's model was somewhat more precise than Altman's model in these experiments. Moreover, the consideration of the empirical regression rate showed that O/F ratio has minor variation due to the quasi constant inflow of the fuel during motor firing.

All solid-state thin film micro-batteries consisting of lithium metal anode, an amorphous LiPON electrolyte and cathode of vanadium oxide have been fabricated and characterized, which were fabricated with cell structure of $Li/LiPON/V_2O_5Pt$. The effect of various oxygen partial pressure on the electrochemical properties of vanadium oxide thin films formed by d.c. reactive sputtering deposition were investigated. The vanadium oxide thin film with deposition condition of $20\%\;O_2/Ar$ ratio showed good cycling behavior. In in-siか process, the LiPON electrolyte was deposited on the $V_2O_5$ films without breaking vacuum by r.f. magnetron sputtering at room temperature. After deposition of the amorphous LiPON, the Li metal films were grown by a thermal evaporator in a dry room. The charge-discharge cycle measurements as a function of current density and voltage variation revealed that the $Li/LiPON/V_2O_5$ thin film had excellent rechargeable properly when current density was $7{\mu}A/cm^2$. and cut-off voltage was between 3.6 and 2.7V In practical experiment, a stopwatch ran on this $Li/LiPON/V_2O_5$ thin film micro-battery. This result means that thin film micro-battery fabricated by in-siか process is a promising for power source for electronic devices.
