  • Geopolymer concrete (GPC) has emerged as a feasible choice for construction materials as a result of the environmental issues associated with the production of cement. The findings of this study contribute to the development of machine learning methods for estimating the properties of eco-friendly concrete to help reduce CO2 emissions in the construction industry. The compressive strength (fc) of GPC is predicted using artificial intelligence approaches in the present study when ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) is substituted with natural zeolite (NZ), silica fume (SF), and varying NaOH concentrations. For this purpose, two machine learning methods multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and radial basis function (RBF) were considered and hybridized with arithmetic optimization algorithm (AOA), and grey wolf optimization algorithm (GWO). According to the results, all methods performed very well in predicting the fc of GPC. The proposed AOA - MLP might be identified as the outperformed framework, although other methodologies (AOA - RBF, GWO - RBF, and GWO - MLP) were also reliable in the fc of GPC forecasting process.

  • In this work, we consider the function $${\Psi}(z)=\frac{z}{\ln(1+z)}=1+\sum\limits_{n=1}^{\infty}\,G_nz^n$$ whose coefficients Gn are the Gregory coefficients related to Stirling numbers of the first kind and introduce a new subclass ${\mathcal{G}}^{{\lambda},{\mu}}_{\Sigma}(\Psi)$ of analytic bi-univalent functions subordinate to the function Ψ. For functions belong to this class, we investigate the estimates for the general Taylor-Maclaurin coefficients by using the Faber polynomial expansions. In certain cases, our estimates improve some of those existing coefficient bounds.

  • This study examined the effects of the shear bond strength when the surface condition of the metal and zirconia, each being the lower structures, was different when determining the bond strength (metal group) of the metal lower structure with upper ceramics, and the shear bond strength (zirconia group) of zirconia lower structure with the upper ceramics in prosthetic appliances of metal-ceramic crown and zirconia-ceramic crowns. The metal groups were divided into a total of four groups: the group with no condition on the metal surface(NM), the group with sand-blasting(SM), the group with applied opaque ceramics(OM), and the group with applied opaque ceramics and sand-blasting(SOM). The zirconia groups were also separated into four groups: the group with no condition(NZ), the group with sand-blasting(SZ), the group treated with ZirLiner on the zirconia surface(LZ), and the group applied with ZirLiner along and sand-blasting(SLZ). To examine the effects on the shear bond strength according to the surface condition of each of the four metal and zirconia groups, SPSS was used to conduct one-way ANOVA. For metal-ceramic crowns, it would be best to apply opaque ceramics after sand-blasting on the surface of the metal, the lower structure. For zirconia-ceramic crowns, it is recommended to apply the ZirLiner after sand-blasting on the surface of zirconia, the lower structure.

  • The Korean Society of Animal Science (KSAS) was officially born on October 8, 1956 under the leadership of Professor Sang W. Yun of Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea a few years after the end of the Korean War. At that time, there were 0.9 million Korean native cattle, 1.3 million pigs and 8.9 million chickens in Korea. Per capita income for Korea (US$ 66) or China (US$ 59) was about 10% of Asian's average income (US$ 513) in 1956. Korea produced less than 0.2 million M/T of formula feed and consumed 6.1 kg/person/year of animal products. One could say that Korea was an example of an under-developed country in the world. Although the first issue of the Proceedings of the KSAS was published on October 28, 1958, regular quarterly journals of the KSAS were not published until March 1, 1969. Major activities other than publishing its journal were: holding an annual meeting and/or scientific forum at national or international level. The Asian-Australasian Association of Animal Production Societies (AAAP) was founded on September 1, 1980 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with founding members from Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, NZ, Philippines and Thailand. Thirteen AAAP Animal Science Congresses have been held in its 28 year history. Hosting countries were Malaysia (1980), Philippines (1982), Korea (1985), NZ (1987), Taiwan (1990), Thailand (1992), Indonesia (1994), Japan (1996), Australia (2000), India (2002), Malaysia (2004), Korea (2006) and Vietnam(2008). In 1988, significant progress of the AAAP was made by creating an official English journal of the AAAP entitled "Asian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences (AJAS)" under the initiative of the KSAS. This journal is now published monthly and distributed to more than 50 countries in the AAAP region and the world. It should be mentioned that the KSAS was able to successfully host the $3^{rd}$ AAAP Animal Science Congress in 1985 and the 12th in 2006, as well as the $8^{th}$ WCAP in 1998. During the last 50 years of KSAS history, per capita income of Korea increased to US$ 17,690 (268 fold), formula feed production increased to 15 million M/T (97 fold) and consumption of animal products increased to 105 kg/person/year (17 fold). Cattle, pig and chicken numbers also increased to 2.5 million (2.8 fold), 9 million (7.4 fold) and 119 million (13 fold). This trend was also found for China and Asia, even if the rate of growth was slightly lower than that of Korea. It is expected that a similar rate of growth in economics, animal numbers, formula feed production and animal protein intake will likely be achieved by other Asian countries in the $21^{st}$ century with somewhat lower rate of development than that of Korea.

  • The objective of this study was to assess the effect of clinoptilolite (a natural zeolite) on growth and performance of broilers as well as on the quality of their litter. A total of 5,200 one-day old broiler chickens (Cobb 500) were used in two consecutive rounds lasting 42 days each. The broilers were given free and continuous access to a nutritionally non-limiting diet (in meal form) that was either a basal diet (B) or a 'zeolite diet' (Z; the basal diet supplemented with clinoptilolite at a level of 2%). A $2{\times}2$ factorial design consisted of two feeding treatments (B and Z) and two bedding types, sawdust (S) and sawdust with zeolite (Sz, which was the result of adding $2kg\;zeolite/m^2$), was used. In each round the broilers were randomly assigned to one of four (n = 650), treatment groups: two fed on the basal diet (B) and had bedding of either sawdust (group BS) or sawdust and zeolite (group BSz) and two fed on the Z diet and had as bedding either sawdust (ZS) or sawdust and zeolite (ZSz). Average growth rates were significantly (p<0.05) different between broilers of different groups; broilers that were fed on the 'zeolite diet' (Z) and were placed either in a compartment with sawdust bedding or sawdust bedding and zeolite (ZS and ZSz) as well those that were fed on the basal diet in a compartment with sawdust bedding and zeolite (BSz) grew at a faster rate (p<0.05) compared with those of the control group (BS). The incorporation of NZ in broilers diets and in their bedding material decreased the organic content in litter samples throughout the experimental period. The lowest organic content was recorded in group ZSz where NZ was added in both feed and litter. Mean ammonia concentration (ppm) was significantly higher in group ZS in comparison to groups BSz and ZSz (27.00 vs. 20.55 and 21.71 respectively). The results of this study showed that the incorporation of the clinoptilolite both in feed and into the litter had a positive effect on broiler growth and also on the quality of their litter.

XPS(x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), XRD(x-ray d diffraction), AFM(atomic force microscope)둥올 이용하여 표면의 조성 및 morphology 변화와 결정성을 관찰하였다.

  • In the DS/CDMA mobile communication systems, the parallel interference canceller is used in order to reduce the multiple access interference and the multipath fading. It is needed the accurate interference estimate in the multistage parallel cancellation. In this paper, the adaptive cancellation method and the new tentative decision device arc proposed and the performance is analyzed. The adaptive cancellation method uses the normalized least mean square(NLMS) algorithm to calculate the weight adaptively, and new tentative decision device uses the hyperbolic tangent decision with null zone. Computer simulation shows that the proposed scheme has the improved performance and the number of user is increased 48% compared with the conventional receiver.

  • In this paper the numerical methods of finding out the optimal position of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the optimal fiber dispersion are proposed, which are able to effectively compensate overall channels in $16{\times}40$ Gbps WDM system. And the compensation characteristics in the system with two induced optimal parameters are compared with those in the system with the currently used mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) in order to confirm the availability of the proposed methods. It is confirmed that the reception performances are largely improved in the system with the induced optimal parameters than in the system with MSSI through the analyzing the eye opening penalty (EOP) and bit error rate (BER) characteristics. It is also confirmed that two optimal parameters depend on each other, but are less related with the procedural problem about the first optimal value among these parameters.

  • This work aims to study the effect of stiffener ties in the behavior of intermediate length open section Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) Columns under axial compression. A comparative study on the behaviour and strength of Cold Formed Steel Columns by changing the direction of projection of lips (i.e., inwards or outwards) are also done. In this work two types of sections were considered Type-I section with lip projecting outwards (hat) and Type-II section with lip projecting inwards (channel). The length of the columns is predicted by performing elastic buckling analysis using CUFSM software. The theoretical analysis is performed using DSM - S100;2007, AS/NZ: 4600-2005 and IS: 801-1975. The compression tests are carried out in a 400 kN loading frame with hinged-hinged end condition. The non-linear numerical analysis is performed using Finite Element software ANSYS 12.0 to simulate the experimental results. Extensive parametric study is carried out by varying the width and spacing of the stiffener ties. The results are compared; the effects of stiffener ties on behaviour and load carrying capacity on both types of columns are discussed.
