Service Analysis of Community Health Nurse Practitioner using Information System (보건진료소 정보시스템을 이용한 보건진료원의 업무 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the activities of Community Health Nurse Practitionses using the Community Health Post Information System(CHPIS). The information system that have been introduced in 1994 and used by 400 Community Health Posts(CHPs) since 1997, which is about 20% of the total CHPs nationwide. Twenty-five CHPs from two provinces participated in the analysis. Seventy-two percent of the CHPs among the participating CHPs started using the system since 1996. The degree of utilization of the information system was classified into three groups (i. e., high. medium, and low). The results revealed that only 48% utilized the system with high level. The areas of analysis of the information system included characteristics of community residents, environmental attributes, and job analysis of Community Health Nurse Practitioners(CHNPs). The study results indicated that primary health care and drug demand and supply system showed the highest level of satisfaction in utilizing the information system by CHNPs.

Effects of Telephone Counseling on Health and Service Satisfaction after Discharge in Gynecologic Cancer Women (퇴원 후 전화상담중재가 부인암환자의 지각된 건강상태, 심리적 안녕과 간호만족도에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: Cancer patients experience a range of physical and psychological sequelae. Consistent nursing support should be provided along the cancer treatment path. This study aimed to i)examine the effects of a telephone counseling program after discharge on perceived health, psychological well-being, and satisfaction with nursing services, and ii)describe symptom distress and their coping methods. Method: The study was a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pre-post test. The sample included 20 women with gynecologic cancer in the experimental group and the same in the control group from a university hospital in Seoul. The telephone intervention was given once from 5 to 7 days after the chemotherapy. The General Well-Being Schedule and Symptom Distress Scale were used. Result: An effect from telephone counseling was found only in the vitality subscale of psychological well-being. Other subscores, perceived health, or satisfaction with nursing services did not differ between the two groups. Pain, skin change, decreased appetite, and constipation were the major symptoms and a relatively few coping strategies were utilized. Conclusion: Protocol of telephone counseling led by a nurse needs to be further developed in regard to best timing, amount, and target effects for follow-up care of gynecologic cancer patients.

The Effects of Quality of Care, Image, Role Performance Perceived by Community Residents on Medical Service Satisfaction to Public Hospitals (지역주민이 인지하는 의료의 질, 이미지, 역할수행이 공공병원 서비스 만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • Background: This study aims to explore the effects of quality of care, image, and role performance perceived by community residents on medical service satisfaction to public hospitals. Methods: The subjects of this study were selected in the community residents around 39 district public hospitals. The questionnaire were included 4 factors and 16 items. The data were collected utilizing call-interview by a survey company. Results: The community satisfaction was positively correlated with quality of care, image, and role performance of public hospitals (p<0.001). As the results of multiple logistic regression, the significant variables of community satisfaction were quality of care (odds ratio [OR], 1.353; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.211 to 1.511), image (OR, 1.487; 95% CI, 1.280 to 1.727), role performance (OR, 1.240; 95% CI, 1.085 to 1.416) among subjects having use experience of public hospitals. The significant variables of community satisfaction were quality of care (OR, 1.240; 95% CI, 1.175 to 1.309), image (OR, 1.328; 95% CI, 1.232 to 1.432), age (OR, 3.051; 95% CI, 1.385 to 6.724), monthly incomes (OR, 0.420; 95% CI, 0.198 to 0.892) among subjects not-having use experience of public hospitals. Conclusion: Public hospitals have to effort to improve image and satisfaction of community through providing quality of care, and role performance. It is possible to support them by the central and local government.

The Effect of Person-Job Fit and Perceived Organizational Support on Job Satisfaction on the Public Health Center Nurses : Moderating Effect of Full-time Public Servants and Temporary Public Servants (보건소 간호사의 개인-직무적합성과 조직지원인식이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 - 정규직과 비정규직의 조절효과 -)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to provide a person-job fit as the basis for a better job environment and human resource development by examining the causal relationships with the perceived organizational support and job satisfaction of 45 public health center nurses located in Gyeonggi Province. Methods: Frequency analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, path analysis, mediating effect, and moderating effect were verified for use by SPSS & AMOS 22 ver. to target to nurses located in Gyeonggi Province. Results: First, the person-job fit has a positive effect on the perceived organizational support and job satisfaction. Second, the perceived organizational support has a partial mediating effect. Third, there was no difference in verifying the moderating effect of full-time public servants and temporary public servants. Conclusion: This study examined the relationship among the person-job fit, job satisfaction as an organizational effectiveness, and the perceived organizational support of mediated effect for nurses working at public health centers. The nurses in government service containing permanent and temporal employees was the adjustment effect. The analysis results showed that the ability of public health center nurses to perform tasks related to person-job fit and the ability of the individual to perceived organizational support was high. In addition, and the job satisfaction was good.

School Novice Health Teachers' Perception of Job Performance Difficulties and Job Satisfaction (초임 보건교사의 직무수행 어려움과 직무만족도에 대한 인식)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to determine the correlation between job performance difficulties and job satisfaction that novice health teachers experienced in a new school environment, and provide the basic data necessary for policy development. Methods: Data were collected from 196 novice health teachers without in-service training program for the qualification of 1st grade and with less than four years of work experience in Korea. The self-report questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, perception of difficulties in job performance, and job satisfaction. The data were analyzed using the x2 test, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: Novice health teachers had the most difficulty in health education during their job performance, whereas teachers without hospital clinical experience encountered difficulties in health management. Those with less than two years of teaching experience or no experience of being contract health teachers had higher job performance difficulties. The results revealed that the lack of experience in performance at a school site had a considerable influence on the difficulty in job performance. In terms of job satisfaction, novice health teachers had the highest satisfaction with status recognition and the lowest satisfaction with their tasks in charge. Additionally, as the difficulty in job performance increased, job satisfaction decreased. Conclusion: The study results indicated the need for training to provide novice health teachers with sufficient experience in job performance before being placed in a school. The provision of support to respond to difficulties in job performance will improve job satisfaction and contribute not only to the development of novice health teachers, but also to the improvement of the quality of school health.

Factors Related to Emotional Leadership in Nurses Manager: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (간호관리자의 감성리더십 관련 변인: 체계적 문헌 고찰 및 메타분석)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify research trends related to emotional leadership among nurse managers by conducting a systematic literature review and meta-analysis. This study sought to derive insights that could contribute to improving emotional leadership in nursing practice. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) and Meta-Analysis Of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) guidelines. Databases including PubMed, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus, Web of Science, Research Information Sharing Service, Koreanstudies Information Service System, Korean Medical Database, KoreaMed, ScienceON, and DBpia were searched to obtain papers published in English and Korean. Literature searches and screenings were conducted for the period December 1, 2023 to December 17, 2023. The effect size correlation (ESr) was calculated for each variable and the meta-analysis was performed using the statistical software SPSS 29.0, R 4.3.1. Results: Twenty-five (four personal, six job, and fifteen organizational) relevant variables were identified through the systematic review. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the total overall effect size was ESr = .33. Job satisfaction (ESr = .40) and leader-member exchange (ESr = .75) had the largest effect size among the job and organizational-related factors. Conclusion: Emotional leadership helps promote positive changes within organizations, improves organizational effectiveness, and increases member engagement and satisfaction. Therefore, it is considered an important strategic factor in improving organizational performance.

Students' Actual Use and Satisfaction of Meteorological Information and Demands on Health Forecasting at a University (일 대학 학생들의 기상정보 이용실태와 만족도 및 건강정보 요구도)

  • Purpose: Climate change affects human health and calls for a health forecasting service. The purpose of this study was to explore the students' actual use and their satisfaction with meteorological information and the demands on health forecasting at a university in South Kyungsang Province. Method: This study used a descriptive design through structured self-report questionnaires including frequency, contents, purpose, perception, satisfaction of meterological information and need and demand of health forecasting. Data were collected from June 1 to 5, 2009 and analyzed using the SPSS 17.0 program. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, χ2 test and Person's correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. Result: The majority of the students watched the daily weather information to decide about daily work, outdoor activity or habitually. The mean score of need for health forecasting was 3.44±.81, and the demand for health forecasting was 2.93±1.05. Significant differences were found in the need for health forecasting according to sex, major, and environmental disease. In addition, the higher the satisfaction of health forecasting, the higher the demand for it. Conclusion: I suggest improving the meteorological information system technically and developing a health forecasting service resulting in a healthier and more comfortable life.

Effects of Satisfaction Level of Doctors from Five University Hospitals on Organization Commitment Level (5개 대학병원들의 의사만족도가 조직몰입도에 미치는 영향)

  • The present study aimed to survey doctors working in five university hospitals about internal customer satisfaction and organization commitment level in order to identify casual relationships through structure equations. According to the analysis, organization management had the biggest impact on internal customer satisfaction level, and the sooner the factor was named personnel, leadership, job, and compensation, the bigger the impact it had on the level. The research model was generally found to be good in terms of goodness of fit, considering the value of x2 calculated as 103.314, the degrees of freedom of 38, GFI 0.924, AGFT 0.868, NFI 0.888, CFI 0.925, and RMSEA 0.086. In conclusion, the internal customer satisfaction level of doctors was significantly proportionate to organization commitment by means of their general satisfaction level, while also being directly proportionate to organization commitment (p<0.05). Meanwhile, statistical significance could not be found when measuring the effects of the doctors' basic characteristics on the levels of internal customer satisfaction and general satisfaction in hospitals.

Attitude of Death, Perception on Hospice and Attitudes of DNR by Nursing Students in an Area (일개 대학 간호대학생의 죽음태도, 호스피스 인식 및 심폐소생술금지(DNR) 태도의 관계분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide a basic data for the establishment of attitude on death, perception on hospice and attitude of DNR by nursing students. The survey was performed with 214 nursing students in Busan. The data was collected by questionnaires and were analyzed using SPSS/win 21.0 program. The period of data collection was from June 1, 2013 to June 15, 2013. The mean scores of attitude on death, perception on hospice and attitude of DNR were 2.63, 3.30 and 3.83 point. The attitude of DNR of the nursing students was significantly different according to the grade and satisfaction of major. The attitude of DNR showed the significant positive relationship with attitude on death and perception on hospice. Attitude on death and perception on hospice accounted for 16.8% of variance in attitude of DNR. Finding of this study is necessary to develop nursing understanding for the attitude of DNR by considering attitude on death and perception on hospice.

The Effect of Laughter Program on the Stress of Nursing College Students in Clinical Practice (웃음프로그램이 간호대학생의 임상실습 스트레스에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of the study were to investigate the effect of laughter program on the stress of nursing college students in clinical practice. The research design is one group pretest-posttest survey. Thirty-eight nursing college students took part in the study. Laughter program was carried out for 1hour 6weeks. Laughter program showed significant change on the state anxiety, mood-emotion, laughter index, subjective stress and self esteem. The acquired data were analyzed with SPSS/win 15.0 using descriptive methods paired t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient. The research producted following results: Laughter program can be effective to decrease the clinical practice stress; anxiety, mood-emotion and subjective stress index. Laughter program can be effective to increase laughter index and self esteem of nursing college students. Based on the study, It is necessary to repeat studies and considering to develop proper methods of clinical practice stress of nursing college students. This study recommends that laughter program coupled with cognitive approaches could affect ways of nursing college students coping with stress and contribute to the improvement from increasing their satisfaction.
