  • Purpose: This study compared the effects of two six-week school-based intervention programs - a health promotion program using a school forest and a traditional school health promotion program (TSHPP) - on physical and mental health among elementary school students. Methods: A total of 73 students participated in the study: 21 students in the 6-week school forest program conducted in a rural area and 52 students in the 6-week TSHPP conducted in an urban area. Children's health promotion behavior, depression and hyperactivity were measured using a self-report questionnaire. To assess children's physical health, body mass index (BMI), body fat percentage, and heart rate variability (HRV) were used. Results: Overall, both intervention programs improved participants' physical and mental health. Both programs significantly decreased the body fat percentage; this effect was more prominent in the TSHPP group. Only the TSHPP significantly decreased the participants' BMI after the intervention. The school forest group showed significantly improved relaxation and diminished hyperactivity; the TSHPP group showed significantly improved health promoting behavior and social relationship after the intervention. Comparing the two groups'post-pre difference scores, the two groups significantly differed only in social relationship. Both group showed significantly improved depression after the intervention. Conclusion: These findings support the effectiveness of these 6-week school-based health promotion programs in improving physical and mental health among school-aged children.

And then In-depth interviews were conducted with volunteers on program experiences. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients and paired t-tests and Giorgi phenomenology analysis method was performed. The TBL program was effective in self - efficacy and self - identity (p<0.01) increased significantly after the education intervention and The meaning of the TBL experience is four (meaning that the learners embarrassed TBL, aggressive learning attitude change, effective collaboration for problem solving in a free learning environment, university classes imagined in high school), and 67 sub-components appeared as an element. The TBL program is an effective teaching method for nursing education and it can be used as basic data for the development of nursing education based on this research.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the effect of direct practice of newborn health assessment on nursing student's clinical competence and self-efficacy and to propose effective strategies for clinical education on newborn care. Methods: Design was a nonequivalent control group quasi-experimental study. The direct practice program was composed of a lecture, demonstration, drill and feedback using a manikin, and repeated direct practice regarding newborn health assessment. Participants were 65 student nurses taking the pediatric nursing practicum in the nursery room at M hospital. The experimental group (n=33) participated in the direct practice program for newborn health assessment and the control group (n=32) received the traditional practice method. Nursing clinical competence was assessed by two nurse investigators and structured questionnaires were used to measure self-efficacy. Results: The experimental group's clinical competence was significantly higher than that of the control group (t=-4.82, p=.000). However no significant difference was found between the two groups for self-efficacy (t=1.264, p=.211). Conclusion: These findings indicate that the direct practice program is effective in improving nursing student's clinical competence, but it was not effective in increasing self-efficacy. Direct practice in various clinical education settings is recommended and longitudinal effects be evaluated.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a Career Search Program on career search efficacy, career search behavior, and career decision making for nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent pre-post test of a quasi-experimental design was used. Fifty first grade nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 28 in the control group. We used a Career Search Program which was held 6 times over 6 weeks, 90 minutes per session. Descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2$-test, and independent t-test were used for statistical analysis with SPSS 19.0. Results: There were significant increases in career search efficacy (t=2.07, p=.044) and career search behavior(t=2.65, p=.011) in the experimental group compared to the control group. However, career decision making was not significantly changed (t=0.96, p=.342). Conclusion: These results suggest that a Career grade Search Program has an effect on increasing career search efficacy and career search behavior in first grade nursing students. In addition, more programs to impact career decision making should be developed for nursing college students.

Method: Data collected include both a descriptive survey designed to assess college entrance system-related factors with respect to 182 nursing students attending a 4-year nursing college program and their test scores in the first year. The data were analyzed via descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test with Bonferroni's correction, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient through an SPSS 18.0 program. Results: Student academic achievement with regard to college entrance system-related factors exhibited significant divergence from first year grade point averages (hereafter GPA) and natural science grades. Conclusion: This study confirmed the existence of significant differences, depending on the factors regarding the college entrance system. As a result, conducting assessment to evaluate the level of basic knowledge before college entrance is highly recommended. Also recommended is the development of a support program for students projected to have difficulties with respect to their academic achievement.

The study participants were students in between the ages of 20 to 25 who participated in the online practice of maternal nursing and conducted to a total of three interviews until the meaning were no longer derived. The data collection period was from May 26 to June 5, 2021, and analysis was conducted simultaneously with the datas have collected. The collected data were analyzed using the Giorgi's Phenomenological Analysis Method, and the study resulted in five categories (Opportunity to repeat, Systematic Scenarios, Immediate nursing intervention feedback, Beneficial hands-on experience, Different case experiences), 11 subcomponents, and 21 Semantic units. Based on the results of this study, the following conclusions were obtained. In maternal nursing, nursing students could experience more systematic and diverse case online than experiences throughout clinical practice, and achievement was also increased in theory learning for online practice. In other words, the online practice of maternal nursing was suitable for various content compositions that could not be experienced in clinical practice, but it is deemed urgent to have a program in Korean suitable for Korean culture. In future studies, this researcher hope to produce a maternal nursing practice program in Korean.
