Methods: SAP, developed by the authors, addresses school adaptation and academic efficacy and consists of 10 sessions based on five categories (i.e., school life, classroom activity, relationship with friends, relationship with teacher, and school environment). Sixteen children with emotional and behavior problems answered questionnaires before and after participation in the program. Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between pre and post-test on school adaptation (t=-2.78, p=.015) and academic efficacy (t=-4.62, p<.001) after the 10 sessions of SAP. Conclusion: The results indicate that SAP can could serve as a practical program for school nurses and teachers. Further studies based on SAP in various school settings are recommended.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of combined Western and Oriental medicine headache massage program for chronic headache patients. Methods: This study was designed using the Nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The forty nine patients were divided into an experimental group (25 patients) and a control group (24 patients). Collected data were analyzed by Chi-test, t-test, Fisher's exact test, Repeated measures ANOVA using SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. Results: After treatment in this program, the experimental group had no significan difference in scores for headache intensity and frequency as the length of time in treatment increased compared to the control group. But there were significant decreases in the use of medication (F=4.209, p=.046) and disturbances in the quality of life related to headaches (F=13.097, p=.001) after providing the combined Western-Oriental massage program. Conclusion: This program could have a positive effect on using medication for pain controllers and headache related quality of life. Based on the results of this study, further research focusing on the effectiveness of unique nursing intervention for chronic headache patients is suggested.

Methods: This study used a non-equivalent control group quasi-experimental design. For the study, 116 subjects were assigned to the control group and another 116 subjects were assigned to the experimental group. The medication management education program consisted of 1:1 education, practice in medication management, consultation, and discussion. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the experimental and control groups in terms of their knowledge of medications and medication misuse behaviors. Conclusion: The results indicate that the medical management education program is effective in improving the knowledge of medications and decreasing medication misuse behaviors. Therefore, this education program can be used as an intervention to improve the medication behaviors of the elderly in local communities.

  • Purpose: This research was conducted to investigate the nurses' awareness and behavior on coaching and its relation with job characteristics in a hospital. Methods: Total 300 nurses in a university affiliated hospital were surveyed with questionnaires between April and May, 2008. The data was analyzed using SAS 9.1. Results: The data showed that 88.9 % of nurses responded the need of coaching training program while only 80.9% of general nurses and 75.7% preceptor nurses would like to participate in the training. The current level of knowledge for coaching was not different by the age, education level, and career. However, coaching behavior and job characteristics were significantly higher in the nurse managers than in general nurses or preceptors. The correlation between coaching behavior and job characteristics were identified. Conclusion: The gaps between the perceived necessity of coaching program implementation and willingness to participate in the coaching program were due to worry about the burden of extra hours needed to participate the program. To introduce coaching program to a nurses' organization successfully, the efforts should be made to develop the coaching training program for nurses based on the results and to support them systematically.

The experimental group received the fall prevention exercise program for 50 minutes, three times each week for 12 weeks. Results: After program participation, the experimental group of subjects showed significantly higher lower limb strength higher endurance, and higher balance than the control group of subjects. The danger of being injured in a fall was also significantly lower in the experimental group. However, there were no significant differences in body constituent factors, agility, and flexibility between the two groups after the intervention. Conclusion: The 12 week fall prevention exercise program was effective in increasing lower limb muscular strength, endurance, balance, and body strength, and in decreasing the danger status of fall injuries. These results suggest that this fall prevention exercise program could be utilized as an effective nursing intervention modality in elderly persons.

The program was developed in two steps. The first step was to develop the content using CVI, and the second was to program it using HTML. The program which was developed was evaluated with 50 nurses of whom 48 responded to the questionnaire. The results are as follows: Of the subjects, 85.4% responded that they were satisfied with this web-based learning system and 87.5% stated that they would recommend this system to nurses who are in other nursing education programs. Of the educational material charac- teristics, the item that the subjects evaluated as most valuable was "accuracy of the content". For system related charact- eristics, the item to which the subjects gave the most positive response was "clarity of the system tool marking" (81.3%). In conclusion, it was verified that a web-based learning system is an effective and satisfactory method for nursing education.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a mentoring program for stress management among Korean adolescents and to assess the effects of the program. Methods: The nonequivalent control group (CG) pretest-posttest design was used in this study. The mentoring intervention was delivered to 18 middle school students (males and females) but nothing was done to the control group consisting of 18 students. The mentoring intervention was conducted by seven nursing students who participated in the program as mentors using various methods such as individual meetings and group activities. The dependent variable was stress level. Results: The program consisted of group and individual mentoring. At follow-up, although the mentees's satisfaction was high and they stated qualitatively positive experience, the difference of stress level between the two groups was not significant. Conclusion: If future mentoring programs reflect the limitation of the current program, they may have potential as developmentally appropriate interventions for stress management of adolescents, and enable nursing students to gain confidence in their professional capability.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of a cost management education program, focusing on the differences between a web-based group and a mobile-based group. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study using a two-group pretest-posttest design. Participants were 74 nurses in a web-based group and 69 nurses in a mobile-based group. Data were collected between January 2 and February 10. The cost management education program was configured such that the participants studied eight modules over four weeks. The after-program post-test was conducted for one week. Results: Both the web-based group and the mobile-based group showed significantly higher values for cost management knowledge (S=5.98, p<.001 and S=2.76, p=.006, respectively). The web-based group had statistically significantly higher values for cost management knowledge (S=4,461.50, p<.001) than the mobile group. Conclusion: The cost management education program showed improvement in knowledge in both the web-based and mobile-based groups; however, the web-based approach was more effective for nurses. A cost management education program which can be implemented effectively across all range of nurses is recommended.
