Changes in Aporia crataegi's potential habitats in accordance with climate changes in the northeast Asia

  • This study was conducted in an effort to provide important clues pertaining to the conservation and restoration of Aporia crataegi by identifying the spatial distribution characteristics of the current habitats, prospective habitats, and future habitats of A. crataegi in accordance with climate changes. To determine the distribution of A. crataegi, data from a total of 36 collecting points throughout South Korea, North Korea, China, Japan, Mongolia, and Russia are used. The spatial distributions of the data were examined through MaxEnt modeling. The distribution probability rates exceeded 75% at 18 locations among the 36 species occurrence locations, with Gangwon province showing the highest distribution probability in South Korea. The precision of the MaxEnt model was remarkably high, with an AUC value of 0.982. The variables that affect the potential distribution of A. crataegi by more than 10% are the degree of temperature seasonality, the amount of precipitation in the warmest quarter, the annual mean temperature, and the amount of precipitation in the driest month, in that order of importance. It was found that the future potential distribution area of A. crataegi continuously moves northward over time up to 2070s. In addition, the area of the potential distribution showing a habitable probability rate that exceeds 75% in northeast Asia was $28,492km^2$, where the area of potential distribution in the north part of Korean peninsula was $20.404km^2$ in size. Thus, it is anticipated that the most important future habitats of A. crataegi in the northeast Asia will be North and South Hamgyeong provinces and Ryanggang province near Mt. Baekdoosan in the northern area of the Korean peninsula.

  • An environment of world marine port today is rapidly changing. Importance of a hub port is being maximized along with appearance of a large container ship, and Busan port is also growing with the goal as a hub port of Northeast Asia. Busan port currently has competitive power as the 5th top port in the world, but increase rate of transportation quantity, is low compared to Shanghai port in China and other ports in Northeast Asia. For a port to obtain competitiveness, investment on infrastructures of a port is necessary and also it has close relation with an intraregional port logistics industry. However, a port logistics industry in Busan area has a hard time avoiding a small size due to the government support on major companies. Therefore, this study will analyze difficulties of small port logistics companies and the related companies as to vitalize port logistics industry in Busan area in hopes to help vitalizing regional economy.

  • Because of a recent trend of the open and globalized world economy, international trade is getting bigger and there is a trade competition among many countries, resulting in competition between harbor industries. Therefore, as hub-port development of China, Japan and Taiwan is more actively progressing than any other times, Korea should prepare a powerful management system to take the initiative over them. Above all, a new recognition of the governmental officers in charge of political management about hub-port industry and early development of the northeast hub-port are needed. To maximize its distinctiveness from competitive ports, port sale should be actively managed. As well, as port functions are diverse, accompanied site development should be prepared. In conclusion, in order to improve functions of a port and develop the port as a general complex of physical distribution, the government should encourage the accompanied site development and support preparation of a customs-free area and a general system of physical distribution.

Transnational Identity and Regional Integration

  • European integration is characterized by the development of a transnational European identity, which is considered an integral part of the process. Northeast Asia has no similar projects to address the common identity issue, although cooperation is highly valued there as well. Identity and cooperation both require interdisciplinary approaches combining social psychology, international relations theory and international economics. This article considers the problems of applying existing studies on cooperation and identity as well as the European experience (with the Baltic Sea example) to the case of Northeast Asia. Transnational identities promote cooperation beyond the limits of rationalistic game theory, if countries of the region can define their identities and interests, commit to common goals, create shared discourses and reach a balance between nationalism and internationalism. In view of proposed negotiations on the free trade area between China, Korea and Japan and ongoing discussions about a possibility of introducing a common currency (ACU) it can be crucial to consider the importance of identity building as early as possible, before regional integration meets a stumbling block of egoistic rationality that is a problem in any model of cooperation.

  • As a neighboring country belonged to the same cultural sphere with the Northeast Asia, China is recently emerging as a center of the world's economy. The social transformations caused by the rapid economic growth are bringing changes in the Chinese housing culture and thus, it is considered that the identification of a user's need concerning a new housing space and social and cultural understanding on China are necessary. Accordingly, this research intended to conduct the basic research on the Chinese housing space design by observing the small apartment users in Shanghai area in terms of not only the tangible element of the residential space type but also the intangible elements such as lifestyle, values, behaviors, etc. The research range was limited to the kitchen area at the center of a house as a place where the exchanges among the family members are most frequently occur, and the research was carried out in the following methods. First, the effective user research method for the analysis of the Chinese small apartment kitchen users was studied through the literature investigation. Second, the 6 families of a research target were selected focused on the small apartments in Shanghai, China and the user research was performed using three methods of User observation, Video ethnography, and Contextual inquiry. Third, the research results were analyzed focused on the flow of human traffic in the kitchen area and user's behaviors. What were identified as a result take account of the human traffic movements in the kitchen areas around the sink-counter-cook top, cooking behaviors and meal areas outside of the kitchen. Through this, the need for the effective organization of the sink-counter-cook top, arrangement of meal area, and placement of storage by section for the kitchen space of China were drawn based on the understanding of the cooking process, and it was identified that such results require comprehensive understanding of Chinese housing culture.

제주도 서남방 동중국해역에서 하계 해양전선 형성과 수질특성 (Formation and Characteristics of Ocean Fronts at the East China Sea in Southwestern Sea Area from Jeju Island, Summer)

  • 제주도 서남쪽 동중국해 해역에서 하계인 8월에 형성되는 외양 전선역의 특성을 알아보기 위해 1999년 8월 하순에 관측이 이루어 졌는데, 그 결과를 해 보면 A라인에서는 경도 124°,위도 31°30'에 위치한 정점 A5에서 표층부터 수심 50m까지의 밀도가 21.4에서 22.1의 범위로 비교적 균등한 분포를 보임으로써 중국연안쪽의 22.0과 외양역의 22.0의 값과는 구분되는 전선역이 형성된다. 또한 B라인에서는 경도 124°,위도 33°에 위치한 정점 B,6에서 A라인에서와 마찬가지로 중국연안쪽과 외양역의 밀도 20.0과 구분되는 전선역이 형성된다. 이 결과는 동중국해 해역에서 양자강 담수의 유출로 인한 외양역(에서)의 전선역이 양자강에서 정동방향으로는 동경 124°,동북쪽으로는 동경 124°30'에서 형성되고 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 전선역에서의 영양염 특성은 전선역을 중심으로 중국 연안쪽에서 높고, 외양역에서 표층과 저층간의 농도차가 뚜렷하게 나타나는 반면에 전선역에서는 상하 층이 거의 균일하며 낮은 농도 분포를 보인다. 엽록소 a의 농도도(는) 전선역을 중심으로 중국 연안쪽과 외양역에서 높으나 전선역 중심에서는 낮은 분포를 보인다. 이상과 같은 결과로 볼 때 전선역이 형성되는 해역은 상하혼합과정에서 흐름의 증대로 인해 식물플랑크톤의 활성이 낮아지기 때문에 생산력이 낮아지는 것으로 생각된다. 또한 여름철 동중국해 해역에서 형성된 외양전선역은 중국대륙 담수의 유출량에 따라 전선역이 제주도까지 밀려올 가능성을 가지고 있는 것으로 판단된다.

중국 북동부 대흥안령 지역 중생대 화산암류에 대한 암석화학적 특성 연구 (Study on the Geochemical Characteristics of the Mesozoic Volcanic Rocks in Da Hinggan Ling Area, Northeast China)

  • 중국 북동부 대흥안령(大興安嶺) 지역 중생대 화산암류의 암석학 및 전체적인 암석화학적 특징을 파악하고, 동북아시아 지역의 중생대 화산암대의 지체구조적 환경 비교 및 성인 연구를 하였다. 주성분 화학조성의 특징은 주로 알칼리-서브알칼리계열의 현무암-현무암질 안산암-안산암-데사이트 및 유문암 조성을 보이고, 전형적인 BAR(현무암-안산암-유문암)의 암석조합을 나타낸다. 그러나, 각 화산분출 단위에서는 산성의 유문암질 성분과 염기성의 현무암질 성분이 많은 반면, 중성 성분이 비교적 결여되어 있는 바이모달 특징을 나타낸다. 미량원소 함량 조성의 전반적인 특징을 보면, Rb, Ba, Th 등 불호정성원소들이 부화되어 있으며, 불호정성이 작아지고 호정성이 증가할수록, 즉 Cr, Ni로 감에 따라 그 함량이 감소하는 특징을 보인다. 또, 희토류원소가 상당히 분화되어 있으며, LREE, Rb, Ba, Th, K 등 불호정성원소의 함량이 높으며, LILE/HFSE 비가 높은 특징을 보인다. Hf-Th-Nb 성분도에서도 본 지역의 화산암류들은 판이 침강 섭입하는 판경계부에서 생성된 마그마로부터 유래하는 조구적 위치에 도시된다. 이는 현재 대흥안령 지역의 지체구조적 위치가 아시아 대륙내부에 위치하나, 화산암류가 형성될 당시에는 지판이 섭입하는 대륙호 환경이었거나 또는 이미 침강섭입된 판으로부터 지구화학적인 혼염된 맨틀 플룸의 영향을 받았음을 추측할 수 있다.

동북아시아 지역에서 TERRA/MODIS 위성자료를 이용한 2000~2005년 동안의 대기 에어러솔 광학두께 변화 특성 (Characteristics of Atmospheric Aerosol Optical Thickness over the Northeast Asia Using TERRA/MODIS Data during the Year 2000~2005)

  • The six-year (2000~2005) record of aerosol optical thickness (AOT or $\tau$) data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) was analyzed over the Northeast Asia. The MODIS AOT standard products (MOD04_L2) over both ocean and land were collected to evaluate the spatial and temporal variability of the atmospheric aerosols over the study region ($32^{\circ}N{\sim}42^{\circ}N$ and $115^{\circ}E{\sim}133^{\circ}E$). The monthly averaged AOT result revealed slight changes(${\pm}0.002{\tau}/month$), which was almost unchangeable, over Korea. In contrast, the large AOT values (> 0.6) and a significant AOT increase (> 0.004 ${\tau}/month$) over East China were observed. For the analysis of spatio-temporal variability of AOT values, study area was divided by six sectors (I: North-East China, II: East China, III: Yellow Sea, IV: Korea Peninsular, V: East Sea, and VI: South Sea and Western part of Japan). The considerable result showed that particularly high AOT contribution was observed over sector I (32.5%) and II (25.5%) where some major urban and industrialized areas and agricultural fields are located and other cases were observed 13.2%, 14.6%, 7.1%, 7.0% over sector III, IV, V, and VI, respectively. In addition, yearly AOT changes based on seasons are observed differently at each sector but increasing trends reveal in summer and fall over all sectors.

아시아레일패스 개발을 위한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on Developing Asian Rail Pass linking Korea, China and Japan)

  • Recently, the cooperation between railway operators has been increased to maximize the efficiency of Asian railway network and international tourists, especially tourists to Asian region grow rapidly. But the cooperation in the rail tourism and leisure field has not yet been promoted. Therefore, this study suggests the development strategy of Asian Rail Pass like Eurail and InetRail Pass. It discusses mainly three Northeast Asian countries, Korea, China and Japan, which are very important area as the third world trade market and high rate of personal exchange. A joint research has to be conducted to feel out the practicability and profitability for the development of Asian Rail Pass. This study will publicize the necessity of Rail Pass in Asia.

중국(中國) 동북부(東北部) 지방(地方) 활엽수(闊葉樹)-잣나무 천연림(天然林)의 생장(生長) 모델과 수확(收穫) 모델 개발(開發) (The Development of Growth and Yield Models for the Natural Broadleaved-Korean Pine Forests in Northeast China)

  • 이 연구는 중국 동북부 활엽수-잣나무 천연림의 다섯 가지 임형에 대하여 임분의 생장 모델과 수확 모델을 개발하기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구 자료는 43년생부터 364년생 범위에 이르는 임분에서 0.06ha에서 1.0ha 크기의 359개 임시 표본구와 58I개의 영구 표본구에서 수집되었다. 입지조건을 평가하기 위하여 지위급지수(Site Class Index; SCI)플 도입하였고, 천연혼효림의 임분밀도를 측정하기 위하여 수관경쟁지수(Crown Competition Factor; CCF)를 채택하였다. SCI 공식과 수고-직경 곡선 모델은 Chapman-Richards 함수를 이용하였고, 흉고직경, 흉고단면적, 및 임분재적 모델의 개발은 Schumacher의 생장함수를 기본 모델로 선정하였다. 평균 흉고직경과 흉고단면적 생장 모델에서 Schumacher 함수의 점근매개변수 A는 입지조건(SCI)과 임분밀도(CCF)와 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 비율매개변델수 k는 임분밀도와 관계가 있었고 입지조건과는 무관한 것으로 나타났다. 개발된 생장 모델과 수확 모델로써 예측된 임분 제원들을 평가하기 위하여 별개의 임분 자료를 이용하여 유효성 검정을 실시하였다. 검정 결과, 예측치의 상대평균오차(RME)는 ${\pm}5%$ 미만으로 산출되었고 임분 변수들의 정확도는 모두 95% 이상인 것으로 나타났다.
