CDMA 이동통신시스템을 위한 QoS 기반 최적 전송출력/전송률 할당 체계 (Optimal Power and Rate Allocation based on QoS for CDMA Mobile Systems)

  • This paper studies power and rate control for data users on the forward link of CDMA system with two cells. The QoS for data users is specified by delay and error rate constraints as well as a family of utility functions representing system throughput and fairness among data users. Optimal power and rate allocation problem is mathematically formulated as a nonlinear programming problem, which is to maximize total utility under delay and error rate constraints, and optimal power and rate allocation scheme (OPRAS) is proposed to obtain a good solution in a fast time. Computational experiments show that the proposed scheme OPRAS works very well and increases total utility compared to the separate power and rate allocation scheme (SPARS) which considers each cell individually.

Damping updating of a building structure installed with an MR damper

  • The purpose of this paper is to identify through experiments the finite element (FE) model of a building structure using a magnetorheological (MR) fluid damper. The FE model based system identification (FEBSI) technique evaluates the control performance of an MR damper that has nonlinear characteristics as equivalent linear properties such as mass, stiffness, and damping. The Bingham and Bouc-Wen models were used for modeling the MR damper and the equivalent damping increased by the MR damper was predicted by applying an equivalent linearization technique. Experimental results indicate that the predicted equivalent damping matches well with the experimentally obtained damping.

  • This paper presents adaptive learning data of evolvable neural networks (ENNs) for time series prediction of nonlinear dynamic systems. ENNs are a special class of neural networks that adopt the concept of biological evolution as a mechanism of adaptation or learning. ENNs can adapt to an environment as well as changes in the environment. ENNs used in this paper are L-system and DNA coding based ENNs. The ENNs adopt the evolution of simultaneous network architecture and weights using indirect encoding. In general just previous data are used for training the predictor that predicts future data. However the characteristics of data and appropriate size of learning data are usually unknown. Therefore we propose adaptive change of learning data size to predict the future data effectively. In order to verify the effectiveness of our scheme, we apply it to chaotic time series predictions of Mackey-Glass data.

Parameter Estimation of Recurrent Neural Equalizers Using the Derivative-Free Kalman Filter

  • For the last decade, recurrent neural networks (RNNs) have been commonly applied to communications channel equalization. The major problems of gradient-based learning techniques, employed to train recurrent neural networks are slow convergence rates and long training sequences. In high-speed communications system, short training symbols and fast convergence speed are essentially required. In this paper, the derivative-free Kalman filter, so called the unscented Kalman filter (UKF), for training a fully connected RNN is presented in a state-space formulation of the system. The main features of the proposed recurrent neural equalizer are fast convergence speed and good performance using relatively short training symbols without the derivative computation. Through experiments of nonlinear channel equalization, the performance of the RNN with a derivative-free Kalman filter is evaluated.

  • Chua's circuit is a simple electronic network which exhibits a variety of bifurcation and attractors. The circuit consists of two capacitors, an inductor, a linear resistor, and a nonlinear resistor. In this paper, a transmitter and a receiver using two identical Chua's circuits are proposed and a equivalent wire synchronizations are investigated Since the synchronization of the wire transmission system is impossible by coupled synchronization, theory having both the drive-response and the coupled synchronization is proposed. As a result, the chaos synchronization has delay characteristics in the wire transmission system caused by the line parameters L and C.

  • In this paper, we propose the face recognition system using the neural network. A difficult procedure in constructing the entire recognition systems is the feature extraction from the face imga. And a key poing is the design of the matching function that relates the set of feature values to the appropriate face candidates. We use the length and angle values as feature values that are extracted from the face image normalized to the range of [0,1]. These features values are applied to the input layer of the neural network. Then, these multi-layered perceptron learns or gives otput result.   • A deadzone compensator is designed for a positioning system using fuzzy logic. The classification property of fuzzy logic systems make them a natural candidate for the rejection of errors induced by the deadzone, which has regions in which it behaves differently. A tuning algorithm is given for the fuzzy logic parameters, so that the deadzone compensation scheme becomes adaptive, guaranteeing small tracking errors and bounded parameter estimates, formal nonlinear stability proofs are given to show that the tracking error is small.   • An AS/RS construction cost minimization model under throughput rate requirement constraint has been developed, whose objective function includes S/R machine cost, storage rack cost, and interrace conveyor cost. S/R machine cost is a function of the storage rack height, the unit load weight, and the control logic used by the system, while storage rack cost is a function of the storage rack height, the weight and the volume of the unit load. Since the model is a nonlinear integer programming problem which is very hard to solve exactly with large problem size, a solution procedure is developed to determine the height and the length of the storage rack with a fixed number of S/R machines, while increasing the number of S/R machines one by one to meet the throughput rate requirement.

  • In this paper, we propose a direct robust adaptive backstepping speed controller for induction motors system. A robust adaptive backstepping controller is designed using high order neural networks(HONN), which avoids the singularity problem in adaptive nonlinear control. The stability of the resulting adaptive system with proposed adaptive controller is guaranteed by suitable choosing the design parameter and initial conditions. HONN are used to approximate most of uncertainties which are derived from unknown motor parameters, load torque disturbances and unknown nonlinearities. The applicability of the proposed scheme is tested simulation.

  • An arc welding machine using single switched PFC converter is presented in this paper. First, the basic operation and principle is reviewed. Controller design is intended to force voltage ripple to minimize, and dynamic response to enhance, Feed-forward strategy for arc welding machine is developed, and that is verified by simulation. The improved power factor characteristics of arc welding machine known as low power factor system with nonlinear property, are shown and evaluated compared to conventional one.
