Power line noise in electrocardiogram signals makes it difficult to diagnose cardiovascular disease. ECG signals without power line noise are needed to increase the accuracy of diagnosis. In this paper, it is proposed DNN(Deep Neural Network) model to remove the power line noise in ECG. The proposed model is learned with noisy ECG, and clean ECG. Performance of the proposed model were performed in various environments(varying amplitude, frequency change, real-time amplitude change). The evaluation used signal-to-noise ratio and root mean square error (RMSE). The difference in evaluation metrics between the noisy ECG signals and the de-noising ECG signals can demonstrate effectiveness as the de-noising model. The proposed DNN model learning result was a decrease in RMSE 0.0224dB and a increase in signal-to-noise ratio 1.048dB. The results performed in various environments showed a decrease in RMSE 1.7672dB and a increase in signal-to-noise ratio 15.1879dB in amplitude changes, a decrease in RMSE 0.0823dB and a increase in signal-to-noise ratio 4.9287dB in frequency changes. Finally, in real-time amplitude changes, RMSE was decreased 0.3886dB and signal-to-noise ratio was increased 11.4536dB. Thus, it was shown that the proposed DNN model can de-noise power line noise in ECG.

In this paper, we propose a new noise estimation and reduction algorithm for stationary and nonstationary noisy environments. This approach uses an algorithm that classifies the speech and noise signal contributions in time-frequency bins. It relies on the ratio of the normalized standard deviation of the noisy power spectrum in time-frequency bins to its average. If the ratio is greater than an adaptive estimator, speech is considered to be present. The propose method uses an auto control parameter for an adaptive estimator to work well in highly nonstationary noisy environments. The auto control parameter is controlled by a linear function using a posteriori signal to noise ratio(SNR) according to the increase or the decrease of the noise level. The estimated clean speech power spectrum is obtained by a modified gain function and the updated noisy power spectrum of the time-frequency bin. This new algorithm has the advantages of much more simplicity and light computational load for estimating the stationary and nonstationary noise environments. The proposed algorithm is superior to conventional methods. To evaluate the algorithm's performance, we test it using the NOIZEUS database, and use the segment signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and ITU-T P.835 as evaluation criteria.

The carrier-to-noise power ratio is a key parameter for determining the reliability of PVT (Position, Velocity, and Time) solutions which are obtained by a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receiver. It is also used for locking a tracking loop, deciding the re-acquisition process, and processing advanced navigation in the receiver subsystem. The representative carrier-to-noise power ratio estimation schemes are the narrowband-wideband power ratio method (NW), the MM (Moment Method), and Beaulieu's method (BL). The NW scheme is the most classical one for commercial GNSS receivers. It is often used as an authoritative benchmark for assessing carrier-to-noise power estimation schemes. The MM scheme is the least biased solution among them, and the BL scheme is a simpler scheme than the MM scheme. This paper focuses on the less biased estimation with low complexity when the residual phase noise remains, then proposes a novel carrier-to-noise power ratio estimation scheme with low complexity for GNSS receivers. The asymptotic bias of the proposed scheme is derived and compared with others, and the simulation results demonstrate that the complexity of the proposed scheme is lowest among them, while the estimation performance of the proposed scheme is similar to those of the BL and MM schemes in normal and high gained reception environments.

EOC (Electro-Optical Camera) of KOMPSAT-1 (Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite) has been producing land imageries of the world since January 2000. After image data are acquired by EOC, they are transmitted from satellite to ground via X-band RF signal. Then, EOC image data are generated and pass through radiometric and geometric corrections to generate standard products of EOC images. After radiometric correction on EOC image data, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) compensation is applicable on EOC images with user's request for better image quality. MTF compensation is concerned with filtering EOC images to minimize the effect of degradations. For Image Receiving and Processing System (IRPE) at KOMPSAT Ground Station (KGS), Wiener filter is used in MTF compensation for EOC images. If the Pointing Spread Function (PSF) of EOC system is known, signal-to-noise power spectra ratio is the only factor in the determination of Wiener filter. In this paper, MTF compensation in IRPE at KGS is introduced and MTF compensated EOC 1R images are generated using Wiener filters with various signal-to-noise power spectra ratios. MTF compensated EOC 1R images are correlated with EOC 1R images for observing linearities between them. As a result, the effect of signal-to-noise power spectra ratio is shown on MTF compensated EOC 1R images.

The error rate equation of MSK(Minimum Shift Keying) signal transmitted through the fading channel has been derived in the interference and impulsive noise environments. The error rate performance of MSK system have been evaluated and shown in figures as parameters of carrier-to-noise power ratio(CNR), carrier-to-interferer power ratio(CIR), impulsive index, the ratio of Gaussian noise power component to impulsive noise power component, and fading figure. The results show that, in the fading environment, the error is occurred more frequently by Gaussian noise in the deep fading, however in the shallow fading, impulsive noise is more dominant than Gaussian noise. And in thepresence of interference and fading, interferer deteriorates the MSK receiving system severely even if the interferer is weak.
A noise suppression algorithm is proposed for nonstationary noisy environments. The proposed algorithm is different from the conventional approaches such as the spectral subtraction algorithm and the minimum statistics noise estimation algorithm in that it classifies speech and noise signals in time-frequency bins. It calculates the ratio of the variance of the noisy power spectrum in time-frequency bins to its normalized time-frequency average. If the ratio is greater than an adaptive threshold, speech is considered to be present. Our adaptive algorithm tracks the threshold and controls the trade-off between residual noise and distortion. The estimated clean speech power spectrum is obtained by a modified gain function and the updated noisy power spectrum of the time-frequency bin. This new algorithm has the advantages of simplicity and light computational load for estimating the noise. This algorithm reduces the residual noise significantly, and is superior to the conventional methods.

In this paper, we derive the CRLB (Cramer-Rao Lower Bound) of effective carrier-to-noise power ratio ($C/N_0$) estimation for a GPS (Global Positioning System) L1 C/A (Coarse/Acquisition) signal under band-limited white noise jamming environments. The quality of a received GPS signal is commonly described in terms of its $C/N_0$, implying that the noise is white and thus can be described by scalar noise density. However, if some intentional interference is received to a victim GPS receiver, then the $C/N_0$ is no longer the efficacious performance indicator. The correct and straightforward measurement to analyze the receiving situation is the effective $C/N_0$. In this paper, we consider a band-limited white noise jamming whose bandwidth is 2MHz and is the same as one of the first null-to-null bandwidth of the GPS L1 C/A signal.

For efficient noise reduction in a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) mass spectrum, a new algorithm was proposed. The suggested algorithm reduces white and electrical noise, and it improves signal-to-noise ratio. This algorithm has been optimized to reduce the noise more efficiently using the traces of signal level. The algorithm has been efficiently combined with derivative window to improve the resolution as well S/N. Time domain data was corrected for DC voltage interference. $t^n$ window was applied in time domain data to improved the resolution. However, $t^n$ window can improve the signal resolution, it will also increase the noise level in frequency domain. Therefore, newly developed noise reduction algorithm will be applied to make a balance between resolving power and S/N ratio for magnitude mode. The trace algorithm can determine the current data point with several data points (mean, past data, calculated past data). In the current calculations, we assumed data points with S/N ratio more than 3 were considered as signal data points. After the windowing and noise reduction, both resolution and signal-to-noise ratio were improved. This algorithm is applicable more efficiently to frequency dependent noise and large size data.

The symbol error rate equations of multi-level quadrature PRS(QPRS) system have been derived in the individual and composite environment of Gaussian/impulsive noise, cochannel CW interference, carrier offset, phase jitter and fading. And using the derived error rate equations, the probability of error has been evaluated and shown in graphs as functions of carrier to noise power ratio, carrier to interference power ratio, phase error, impulsive index, the ration of Gaussian noise to impulsive noise power component, signal to noise power ration in phase locked loop(PLL), and fading figures. The rseults show that the error rate performances are generally more more degraded by impulsive noise than by Gaussian noise. But on the contrary the erors occurred more frequently by Gaussian noise than impulsive noise in a fading environment.
