  • If a node stops functioning in an ad-hoc wireless network, routing paths involving the node will also fail, when construction of replacement routes is required. A major cause of node failure is energy exhaustion, and route replacements may in turn lead to successive node failures by making more nodes consume their energy. The result could be performance degradation of networks. Therefore it is important to ensure that nodes with limited remaining energy are not included in route construction from the beginning. In this paper we propose a new routing protocol, which takes residue energy of nodes into account in order to prevent node failures resulting from energy shortage. Our routing protocol examines the smallest value of node residue energy ($E_{m}$) from each of all possible routing paths and selects the path which has the largest value of $E_{m}$. We prove, through simulation, that our routing protocol extends the lifetime of nodes which have limited amount of energy, reducing chances of path replacement. It is also shown that our proposed protocol helps alleviate network performance degradation.

  • Security is more important in many sensor applications. The node replication attack is a major issue on sensor networks. The replicated node can capture all node details. Node Replication attacks use its secret cryptographic key to successfully produce the networks with clone nodes and also it creates duplicate nodes to build up various attacks. The replication attacks will affect in routing, more energy consumption, packet loss, misbehavior detection, etc. In this paper, a Secure-Efficient Centralized approach is proposed for detecting a Node Replication Attacks in Wireless Sensor Networks for Static Networks. The proposed system easily detects the replication attacks in an effective manner. In this approach Secure Cluster Election is used to prevent from node replication attack and Secure Efficient Centralized Approach is used to detect if any replicated node present in the network. When comparing with the existing approach the detection ratio, energy consumption performs better.

  • Sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks operate in distributed environments with limited resources and sensing capabilities. Especially, a sensor node has a small energy. After the sensor nodes are distributed in some area, it is not accessible to the area. AIso, a battery of sensor node cannot change. One of the hot issues in wireless sensor networks maximizes the network lifetime through minimizing the energy dissipation of sensor nodes. In LEACH, the cluster head is elected based on a kind of probability method without considering remaining energy of sensor node. In this paper, we propose a cluster formation scheme that the network elect the node, which has higher energy level than average energy level of overall sensor network, as cluster head node. We show the superiority of our scheme through computer simulation.

  • Due to uncertainties in target motion and randomness of deployed sensor nodes, the problem of imbalance of energy consumption arises from sensor scheduling. This paper presents an energy-efficient adaptive sensor scheduling for a target monitoring algorithm in a local monitoring region of wireless sensor networks. Owing to excessive scheduling of an individual node, one node with a high value generated by a decision function is preferentially selected as a tasking node to balance the local energy consumption of a dynamic clustering, and the node with the highest value is chosen as the cluster head. Others with lower ones are in reserve. In addition, an optimization problem is derived to satisfy the problem of sensor scheduling subject to the joint detection probability for tasking sensors. Particles of the target in particle filter algorithm are resampled for a higher tracking accuracy. Simulation results show this algorithm can improve the required tracking accuracy, and nodes are efficiently scheduled. Hence, there is a 41.67% savings in energy consumption.

  • One of the main goals of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is to utilize the energy of sensor nodes effectively and maximize the network lifetime. Thus, this paper proposed a routing protocol for WSNs based on virtual force disturbing mobile Sink node (VFMSR). According to the number of sensor nodes in the cluster, the average energy and the centroid factor of the cluster, a new cluster head (CH) election fitness function was designed. At the same time, a hexagonal fixed-point moving trajectory model with the best radius was constructed, and the virtual force was introduced to interfere with it, so as to avoid the frequent propagation of sink node position information, and reduce the energy consumption of CH. Combined with the improved ant colony algorithm (ACA), the shortest transmission path to Sink node was constructed to reduce the energy consumption of long-distance data transmission of CHs. The simulation results showed that, compared with LEACH, EIP-LEACH, ANT-LEACH and MECA protocols, VFMSR protocol was superior to the existing routing protocols in terms of network energy consumption and network lifetime, and compared with LEACH protocol, the network lifetime was increased by more than three times.

  • Routing technique of wireless sensor network that is presented to improve effectiveness of consumption in energy at the previous study is existing in various ways, however for routing, its own location data and nodes' location data close to with 1-hop distance should be kept. And it uses multi-hop transmission method that transmits data to BS node via several nodes. This technique makes electronic consumption of sensor node and entire network's energy consumption so that it makes effective energy management problem. Therefore, this paper suggests location based 1-hop routing technique of BS node that satisfies distance $d{\pm}{\alpha}$ with source node using RSSI and radio wave range of sensor node.

  • Energy conservation is an important issue in wireless networks, especially for self-organized, low power, low data-rate impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) networks, where every node is a battery-driven device. To conserve energy, it is necessary to turn node into sleep state when no data exist. This paper addresses the energy consumption analysis of Direct-Sequence (DS) versus Time-Hopping (TH) multiple accesses and two kinds of sleeping protocols (slotted and unslotted) in PHY-MAC for Un networks. We introduce an analytical model for energy consumption or a node in both TH and DS multiple accesses and evaluate the energy consumption comparison between them and also the performance of the proposed sleeping protocols. Simulation results show that the energy consumption per packet of DS case is less than TH case and for slotted sleeping is less than that of unslotted one for bursty load case, but with respect to the load access delay unslotted one consumes less energy, that maximize node lifetime.

  • PEGASIS, a chain-based protocol, forms chains from sensor nodes so that each node transmits and receives from a neighbor. In this way, only one node (known as a HEAD) is selected from that chain to transmit to the sink. Although PEGASIS is able to balance the workload among all of the nodes by selecting the HEAD node in turn, a considerable amount of energy may be wasted when nodes which are far away from sink node act as the HEAD. In this study, DERP (Distance-based Energy-efficient Routing Protocol) is proposed to address this problem. DERP is a chain-based protocol that improves the greedy-algorithm in PEGASIS by taking into account the distance from the HEAD to the sink node. The main idea of DERP is to adopt a pre-HEAD (P-HD) to distribute the energy load evenly among sensor nodes. In addition, to scale DERP to a large network, it can be extended to a multi-hop clustering protocol by selecting a "relay node" according to the distance between the P-HD and SINK. Analysis and simulation studies of DERP show that it consumes up to 80% less energy, and has less of a transmission delay compared to PEGASIS.

  • Sensor nodes are easily compromised by attacker when which are divided in open environment. The attacker may inject false report and false vote attack through compromised sensor node. These attacks interrupt to transmission legitimate report or the energy of sensor node is exhausted. PVFS are proposed by Li and Wu for countermeasure in two attacks. The scheme use inefficiency to energy of sensor node as fixed report threshold and verification node. In this paper, our propose the next neighbor node selection scheme based on fuzzy logic system for energy improvement of PVFS. The parameter of fuzzy logic system are energy, hops, verification success count, CH select high the next neighbor node among neighbor nodes of two as deduction based on fuzzy logic system. In the experimental, our proposed scheme was improvement to energy of about 9% compare to PVFS.
