Scroll compressor has been used extensively for refrigeration since the early 1980's for its improved efficiency, greater reliability, smoother operation, lower noise and vibration. And also, nowadays, the scroll mechanism is used for expander even though in niche market yet. But scroll expander has not been used for high-temperature and high-pressure gas, because the continuous expansion of the gas causes a wide range of temperature distribution over the whole scroll wrap that leads to differential thermal expansion of scroll elements, which results in system vibrations, noise and efficiency losses. For the scroll expander to produce power more efficiently, all of radial and radial clearances between scroll wrap must be the same. In order to reduce differential thermal expansion in addition to improvements in thermal efficiency and specific power, we propose a scroll expander with heating structure. Heat-pipe heating structure is considered as the most effective method to heat the scroll expander at a uniform temperature. This paper includes some results of preliminary study of the scroll expander with heating structure and proposals of their systems for power generation and refrigeration.

Air transportation industry becomes more competitive because that the restrictions on new access to market were eased and related enough for each airline to choose the freight rate and the route without rein. New competitors are pursuing convergence strategy which focuses on low freight rate as a niche strategy for increasing market share by stimulating low cost demand. This strategy is now spreading all over the world such places as Europe, Asia, Oceania and etc. As of December 1, 2004, hundreds of low cost carriers are participating actively in the market and finding their level as a new strategic group in the air transportation industry with expanding their market. In case of USA, however, many airlines, which had newly entered to the market, went into bankruptcy in the mid-1980s. People Express in USA established in 1980 is one of the examples of failure. In case of Japan, Hokkaido International Airline, a typical low cost carrier which established in 1997, filed for bankruptcy. This study is for examining the strategic implication closely through the study on management strategy and cases of failure of low cost carriers.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the eroticism of the exposed body and clothing style of Chinese foreign students in Korea and to provide basic information required to design and develop a niche market for the Chinese. A Chinese professor translated 52 questions, which formed a preliminary survey given to 30 Chinese students. Following this preliminary survey, some questions were then revised. The surveys were conducted during 3 weeks starting from the 5th of October. Only 289 of 330 questionnaires were selected for statistical analysis. Data were analyzed statistically through Frequency analysis, Chi-square test, T-test, and Regression analyses in SPSS 12.0. The results of this study were as follows. First, we should consider men's breast, back, and neck line in order to develop the design of men's clothes, and the leg and collarbones for women's clothing. Second, it was suggested that we pay attention to the following articles of clothing to expand the erotic market for Chinese women's clothes: mini-skirts, side slit skirts, and tight-skirts for bottoms; blouses or T-shirts with a neckline scooped out deeply for tops; and see-through one-piece dresses with deeply scooped out backs.

Study on sexual dimorphism in Littorphism in Littorina brevicula should be interesting to examine that how the species prevent niche-overlap between the sexes? and how the species act differently in the reproductive roles of the sexes? Sexual dimorphism on the shell of L. brevicula was examined with 211 periwinkles larger than 5 mm shell length in Pusan, Korea. Sexual dimorphism was detected in the aperture length only. Aperture length of the female was longer than that of the male. A difference in the sexual role in the reproduction seems to be a probable explanation for the sexual dimorphism in the aperture length. The reproductive role of the male is to choose the best female and to transfer the sperm successfully by copulation, and the role of the female is to spawn their fertilised eggs into the seawater successfully. Perhaps females migrate to lower elevations on the shore than the males, so that they are submerged when they spawn. Because wave action at the lower area of the shore is stranger than that at the higher area on the shore, the females might need larger aperture size than the males to avoid dislodgement.

In Korea, the market of internet shopping mall rapidly increases. The purpose of this study is how to progressed to internet shopping mall system in Korea and a improvement and characteristics of that through progress and case studies of internet shopping mall. As to the future direction of the market of internet shopping mall in Korea, many of commodity parts will be traded among established participants on internet websites owned by internet shopping mall groups. Finally, for improvement of internet shopping mall industry in Korea I suggested that there are "mutual cooperation of internet shopping mall companies", "maintain the customer's confidence", "attain the profits through a niche market strategy".

High level perceptual tasks such as context understanding, SLAM and object recognition are essential for intelligent robot to provide services for human supports. Those intelligent robots often use camera sensor for vision information, sonar or laser sensor for range information, encoder for angular velocity of wheel and so on. The information is generated at different time intervals by the different H/W devices and S/W algorithms. The generation of high level information requires the specific mixture of low level information. And the information should be represented to be useful for robots to use in their ecological niche. In conventional robot systems, perceptual module requires the resource to use by tightly coupling whenever it is needed. So the resource and information cannot be easily shared and even could be invalid for the delayed information. In this paper, we propose a synchronization system of robot-centered information for context understanding. Our system represents information for the robot capacity and synchronizes the information that is asynchronously generated, where is employed the black-board architecture.

Iris laevigata is geographically restricted and legally protected in Korea. In this study, a mesocosm study was conducted to examine the effects of environmental conditions such as water levels and soil nutrient conditions on the growth and survival of I. laevigata seedlings. Complete submergence lowered the total number of leaves, biomass, and survival rates. A rise in soil nutrients increased overall seedling growth and increased tiller numbers via the promotion of asexual reproduction. Also, we found that the lowest measured values of seedlings are associated with the most stressful condition due to the interaction of low soil nutrients and high water levels. I. laevigata seedlings, however, are distributed in low-nutrient habitats such as floating mat, even though they do not grow well under these conditions. This study suggests that I. laevigata does not prefer low-nutrient condition but choose another benefit such as low competition. Also, the water level must be lower than the seedling height for effective growth and management of I. laevigata.

This study examined consumer perceptions and consumer responses of Halal cosmetics and compared them with vegan cosmetics, which is a term similarly used. Twitter API of Python 3.7 was used to collect the keywords '#halalcosmetics' and '#vegancosmetics'. First, the main perception of consumers on Halal cosmetics focused on the original concept, image, expected efficacy, and factors to consider before purchase, religious keywords, labels and packaging for Halal cosmetics. Second, the main consumer perception of vegan cosmetics was the product concept, expected efficacy, factors to consider before purchase, related vegan industry, image, and vegan cosmetic components. Third, the consumer perceptions of Halal cosmetics and vegan cosmetics were similar in multiple ways, and both concepts included the Cruelty-free concept. Fourth, consumer satisfaction factors included cosmetics color, brand's consumer service, efficacy, smell, packaging design, reasonable price, effects, and formulation of cosmetics as well as satisfaction with Halal certification, and satisfaction of Vegan consumers. Consumer dissatisfaction factors included smell, flavor, delay in shipping, dissatisfaction with formulation, discrepancy between actual color and computer screen, concern and distrust about the use of prohibited ingredients for Halal products. This study examined consumer perceptions and reactions to Halal and vegan cosmetics to create basic knowledge for niche markets that are emerging as an ethical beauty consumption trend.

This paper presents theoretical discussions on socio-techical system transition, by shedding light on the STS context. With a rising attention paid by STI policy researchers, the socio-technical system perspective seems particularly promising in applying to the pursuit for the sustainable development. The normative strand in STI policy research has been strongly influenced by the STS tradition that emphasizes active and participatory roles not only of academian but also of science and technology. Throughout reviewing the development of the socio-technical system perspective, its theoretical components of environment, drivers and dynamics are discussed, often being linked to older perspectives. STI policy involves in socio-technical transition in a manner of transition management and governance, which is the final part of this paper.

Nuclear energy in Korea began in 1958, when the Korea's atomic energy act was formulated and the relevant organizations were founded. Since then, notwithstanding the two catastrophe like TMI and Chernobyl accident, Korea made a wise decision to expand the peaceful uses of the nuclear energy as well as to localize the essential nuclear design technology of fuel and nuclear steam supply system. This decision resulted in the success of export of nuclear power plants as well as research reactor in 2010s. The Korea's nuclear policy, which well utilized 'international crisis in nuclear business' as 'opportunity of Korea to get. nuclear technology', is believed nice policy as a role model of nuclear new-comer countries. Based upon the success story of localization of nuclear technology, Korea had an eye for a niche market, which was a basis of development of SMART, Korea-made integral PWR. The operation of a SMART plant can sufficiently provide not only electricity but also fresh water for 100,000 residents. Last two years, Korea's nuclear industry team led by the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute completed the standard design of SMART and applied to the Korea's regulatory body for standard design approval. Now the Korea's licensing authority is reviewing the design with the relevant documents, and the design team is doing its best to realize its hope to get the approval by the end of this year. From next year, the SMART business including construction and export will be explored by the KEPCO consortium.
