Magnetic $Ni_{0.7}Co_{0.3}Fe_2O_4$ nanoparticles that were prepared via the rapid combustion process were functionalized and modified to obtain magnetic $Ni_{0.7}Co_{0.3}Fe_2O_4@SiO_2-CHO$ nanocomposites, on which penicillin G acylase (PGA) was covalently immobilized. Selections of immobilization concentration and time of fixation were explored. Catalytic performance of immobilized PGA was characterized. The free PGA had greatest activity at pH 8.0 and $45^{\circ}C$ while immobilized PGA's activities peaked at pH 7.5 and $45^{\circ}C$. Immobilized PGA had better thermal stability than free PGA at the range of $30-50^{\circ}C$ for different time intervals. The activity of free PGA would be 0 and that of immobilized PGA still retained some activities at $60^{\circ}C$ after 2 h. $V_{max}$ and $K_m$ of immobilized PGA were 1.55 mol/min and 0.15 mol/l, respectively. Free PGA's $V_{max}$ and $K_m$ separately were 0.74 mol/min and 0.028 mol/l. Immobilized PGA displayed more than 50% activity after 10 successive cycles. We concluded that immobilized PGA with magnetic $Ni_{0.7}Co_{0.3}Fe_2O_4@SiO_2-CHO$ nanocomposites could become a novel example for the immobilization of other amidohydrolases.
The electrophoretic deposition(EPD) technique with a wide range of novel applications in the processing of advanced ceramic materials and coatings, has recently gained increasing interest both in academic and industrial sector not only because of the high versatility of its use with different materials and their combinations but also because of its cost-effectiveness requiring simple apparatus. Compared to other advanced shaping techniques, the EPD process is very versatile since it can be modified easily for a specific application. For example, deposition can be made on flat, cylinderical or any other shaped substrate with only minor charge in electrode design and positioning[1]. The synthesis of the nano-sized Ce0.2Sm0.8O1.9(SDC)particles prepared by aurea based low temperature hydrothermal process was investigated in this study[2].When we made the SDC nanoparticles, changed the time of synthesis of the SDC. The SDC nanoparticles were characterized with field-emission scanning electron microscope(FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis(EDX), and X-ray diffraction(XRD). And also we researched the results of our investigation on electrophoretic deposition(EPD) of the SDC particles from its suspension in acetone solution onto a non-conducting NiO-SDC substrate. In principle, it is possible to carry out electrophoretic deposition on non-conducting substrates. In this case, the EPD of SDC particles on a NiO-SDC substrate was made possible through the use of a adequately porous substrate. The continuous pores in the substrates, when saturated with the solvent, helped in establishing a "conductive path" between the electrode and the particles in suspension[3-4]. Deposition rate was found to increase its increasing deposition time and voltage. After annealing the samples $1400^{\circ}C$, we observed that deposited substrate.
Biodegradable amphiphilic polymer was synthesized for removing hydrophobic pollutants(phenol, 4-nitrophenol, benzene, and toluene) and metal ions ($Cs^{+},\;Mg^{2+},\;Cu^{2+},\;Ni^{2+}$, and $Cr^{3}$). The methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)s with different molecular weights (1,100 and 5,000) were used as a hydrophilic segment. The rejection ratio improved in the relatively high molecular weight of MPEG. The rejection ratio of biodegradable nanoparticles without pollutants was over 98%. In removal of hydrophobic pollutants, the rejection ratio increased with the hydrophobic properties. The electron valence affects the rejection ratio of metal ions, indicating rejection ratio was ordered as $3^{+}>2^{+}>1^{+}$.

Sn-58Bi-xRu composite solders were prepared by adding Ru nanoparticles to Sn-58Bi, a typical low-temperature solder, and the interfacial reaction and solder joint reliability were analyzed by reacting with Cu/OSP and ENIG surface treated PCB boards. The Cu6Sn5 IMC formed by the reaction with Cu/OSP had little change in thickness depending on the Ru content, and ductile fracture occurred inside the solder during the high-speed shear test without any significant change even after 100 hr aging. In reaction with ENIG, the Ni3Sn4 IMC thickness tended to decrease as the Ru content increased, and ENIG-specific brittle fracture was found in some specimens. Since Ru element is not found near the interface, it is judged not to be significantly involved in the interfacial reaction, and it is analyzed that it mainly exists together with the Bi phase.

One-dimensional nanostructures such as carbon nanotubes could be ideal templates for formation of metallic nanoparticles. Furthermore, bimetallic component nanoparticles have recently been interesting issues for having high catalytic activity. This work provides both a facile method to synthesize bimetallic catalysts via N atoms of carbon nanotubes and also a picture about how to design the optimal bimetallic catalyst for hydrogen generation from the hydrogen storage material. In principle, the ratio of one component to another component could be generically extended to fabricate the high-performance bimetallic catalysts on host nanostructures. Indeed, we demonstrate that the bimetallic catalyst composed of the optimum composition results in the excellent hydrogen generation property from an aqueous borane ammonia solution, thus being capable of satisfying the Depart of Energy in USA target required for many advanced applications even with the small amount of our bimetallic catalysts attached onto the N-doped carbon nanotubes. This high hydrogen generation rate is found to be attributed to the optimal distance between active Pt and cheap Ni atoms for effective hydrogen generation.

Composite coating can be manufactured during the electroplating with the bath containing a suspension of particles: ceramic, polymer, nanopowders. Improvement of hardness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance and lubrication properties are well-known advantage of composite coating. In this study, nano $TiO_2$ powder dispersed Ni composite plating was investigated. The improvement of surface hardness and photo decomposition effects can be expected in this coating. Zeta potential was measured with pH. The effect of ultrasonication time and types of ultrasonicator were studied to minimize the agglomeration of $TiO_2$ nanopowders in the electrolyte. Optimum conditions for nano $TiO_2$ dispersed Ni composite coating were $40mA/cm^2$ of current density, pH 3.5, and $50^{\circ}C$. At these conditions, $TiO_2$ nanoparticles contents in the Ni deposit was 15-20 at.%.
In this study, $Sr_2Ni_{1.8}Mo_{0.2}O_{6-{\delta}}$ (SNM) with a double perovskite structure was investigated as an alternative anode for use in the $CH_4$ fuel in solid oxide fuel cells. SNM demonstrates a double perovskite phase over $600^{\circ}C$ and marginal crystallization at higher temperatures. The Ni nanoparticles were exsolved from the SNM anode during the fabrication process. As the SNM anode demonstrates poor electrochemical and electro-catalytic properties in the $H_2$ and $CH_4$ fuels, it was modified by applying a samarium-doped ceria (SDC) coating on its surface to improve the cell performance. As a result of this SDC modification, the cell performance improved from $39.4mW/cm^2$ to $117.7mW/cm^2$ in $H_2$ and from $15.9mW/cm^2$ to $66.6mW/cm^2$ in $CH_4$ at $850^{\circ}C$. The mixed ionic and electronic conductive property of the SDC provided electrochemical oxidation sites that are beyond the triple boundary phase sites in the SNM anode. In addition, the carbon deposition on the SDC thin layer was minimized due to the SDC's excellent oxygen ion conductivity.

Urea oxidation reaction (UOR) via electrochemical oxidation process can replace oxygen evolution reaction (OER) for green hydrogen production since UOR has lower thermodynamic potential (0.37 VRHE) than that of OER (1.23 VRHE). However, in the case of UOR, 6 electrons are required for the entire UOR. For this reason, the reaction rate is slower than OER, which requires 4 electrons. In addition, it is an important challenge to develop catalysts in which both oxidation reactions (UOR and OER) are active since the active sites of OER and UOR are opposite to each other. We prove that among the NiFe2O4 nanoparticles synthesized by the hydrothermal method at various synthesis temperatures, NiFe2O4 nanoparticle with properly controlled particle size and crystallinity can actively operate OER and UOR at the same time.

The composite electroplating is accomplished by adding inert materials during the electroplating. Permalloy is the term for Ni-Fe alloy and it is used for industrial applications due to its high magnetic permeability. Microhardness for microdevices is enhanced after composite coating and it increases the life cycle. However, the hydroxyl group on the silica makes their surface susceptible to moisture and it causes the silica nanoparticles to be agglomerated in the aqueous solution. The agglomeration problem causes poor dispersion which eventually interrupts uniform deposition of silica nanoparticles. In this study, the dispersion of silica nanoparticles in the permalloy electroplated layer is reported with variation of additives and sonication time. Longer sonication period guaranteed better silica nanopowder dispersion and sonication period also influenced on composition of deposits. The amount of silica nanopowder codeposition and surface morphologies were influenced with variation of additives. In alkaline bath, smooth surface morphology and relatively high contents of silica nanopowder codeposition were obtained with addition of sodium lauryl sulfate.
A highly sensitive and selective non-enzymatic glucose sensor has gained great attention because of simple signal transformation, low-cost, easily handling, and confirming the blood glucose as the representative technology. Until now, glucose sensor has been developed by the immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOx) on the surface of electrodes. However although GOx is quite stable compared with other enzymes, the enzyme-based biosensors are still impacted by various environment factors such as temperature, pH value, humidity, and toxic chemicals. Non-enzymatic sensor for direct detecting glucose is an attractive alternative device to overcome the above drawbacks of enzymatic sensor. Many efforts have been tried for the development of non-enzymatic sensors using various transition metals (Pt, Au, Cu, Ni, etc.), metal alloys (Pt-Pb, Pt-Au, Ni-Pd, etc.), metal oxides, carbon nanotubes and graphene. In this paper, we show that Ni-based nano-particles (NiNPs) exhibit remarkably catalyzing capability for glucose originating from the redox couple of $Ni(OH)_2/NiOOH$ on the surface of ITO electrode in alkaline medium. But, these non-enzymatic sensors are nonselective toward oxidizable species such as ascorbic acid the physiological fluid. So, the anionic polymer was coated on NiNPs electrode preventing the interferences. The oxidation of glucose was highly catalyzed by NiNPs. The catalytically anodic currents were linearly increased in proportion to the glucose concentration over the 0~6.15 mM range at 650 mV versus Ag/AgCl.
