  • Recently, the next-generation advanced flow visualization techniques such as holographic PIV, dynamic PIV, echo-PIV, micro/nano-PIV, and X-ray PIV have been introduced. These advanced measurement techniques have a big potential as the core technology for analyzing outmost thermo-fluid flows in future. These would be indispensable in solving complicated thermo-fluid flow problems not only in the industrial fields such as automotive, space, electronics, aero- and hydro-dynamics, steel, and information engineering, but also in the research fields of medical science, bio-medical engineering, environmental and energy engineering etc. Especially, NT (Nano Technology) and BT (Bio Technology) strongly demand these advanced measurement techniques, because it is impossible for conventional measurement methods to observe most complicated nano- and bio-fluidic phenomena. In this presentation, the basic principle of these high-tech flow visualization techniques and their practical applications which cannot be resolved by conventional methods, such as blood flows in a micro-tube, in vivo analysis of micro-circulation, and flow around a living body will be introduced as a blue ocean strategy.

  • The NGN (Next Generation Network) means the kernel infrastructure technology to provide information and communication services which are able to be used at present and future when a ubiquitous computing era has been realized. In other words, NGN can be the frame providing the same information and communication services anytime and anywhere regardless of wire and wireless. The broadband convergence network that has been built in the public institution has established a broadband multimedia communication network supporting voice telephone, task net, internet network, video conference network, voice over IP (VoIP) network and etc. It is possible for a requested bandwidth and services to be served, only if a broadband convergence network provide the interoperability between the various classes which include a transport network layer, network control layer, service control layer and other layers. In this paper, we analyzed the interoperability issues of the present broadband convergence network and propose a guideline for the future one.

  • In forensic genetics, when it is not possible to confirm an individual's identity through STR profile analysis, additional information about the individual can be obtained using DNA-based phenotypic traits estimation. Recently, various researches have been conducted on methods to determine externally visible characteristics (EVC) such as eyes, hair, and skin color. However, relying solely on such phenotypic traits information has limitations for application in East Asian regions, including Korea. In this study, in order to utilize EVC related to an individual's appearance as investigative information, SNPs related to eye shape, hair thickness, skin color, as well as baldness, body type, high myopia, facial shape, acne, and behavioral habits were explored. A total of 50 SNPs were selected, and a targeted amplicon NGS panel capable of amplifying them all at once was developed. Experimental results confirmed the allelic types and frequencies of the 50 SNPs in 14 samples. We plan to use this panel to investigate the correlation between genotype and phenotype using various samples, and to develop methods for interpreting the results.

  • Virtualization technology is one of the technologies that have been attracting attention as cloud computing spreads recently. When a system is constructed using virtualization technology, mutiple operation systems can be operated in a single host operating system, thereby facilitating efficient management of computing resources. As more and more operating systems are running on the hypervisor, it is important to measure the overall performance of the virtualization system and this is becoming an important technology. In this paper, we analyze the main functions of the existing profiling tools to measure the performance of the virtualization system, and measure and classify the profiling coverage that the monitoring tools can perform for events that may occur in the virtualization system. In addition, we have studied a framework that enables performance measurement by loading appropriate profiling tools into the guest system when performance measurement is required for the virtualization system according to the information received from the remote system performing the monitoring.

  • Automatic large scale soil model generation is very critical stage for earthquake hazard simulation of urban areas. Manual model development may cause some data losses and may not be effective when there are too many data from different soil observations in a wide area. Geographic information systems (GIS) for storing and analyzing spatial data help scientists to generate better models automatically. Although the original soil observations were limited to soil profile data, the recent developments in mapping technology, interpolation methods, and remote sensing have provided advanced soil model developments. Together with advanced computational technology, it is possible to handle much larger volumes of data. The scientists may solve difficult problems of describing the spatial variation of soil. In this study, an algorithm is proposed for automatic three dimensional soil and velocity model development of southern part of the European side of Istanbul next to Sea of Marmara based on GIS data. In the proposed algorithm, firstly bedrock surface is generated from integration of geological and geophysical measurements. Then, layer surface contacts are integrated with data gathered in vertical borings, and interpolations are interpreted on sections between the borings automatically. Three dimensional underground geology model is prepared using boring data, geologic cross sections and formation base contours drawn in the light of these data. During the preparation of the model, classification studies are made based on formation models. Then, 3D velocity models are developed by using geophysical measurements such as refraction-microtremor, array microtremor and PS logging. The soil and velocity models are integrated and final soil model is obtained. All stages of this algorithm are carried out automatically in the selected urban area. The system directly reads the GIS soil data in the selected part of urban area and 3D soil model is automatically developed for large scale earthquake hazard simulation studies.

  • In this paper, we present an NFT auction service for the next generation, named NextAuction, which can reliably trade ownership of individual content using DID technology. Recently, as the types and sizes of tradable digital assets have expanded, the number of NFT transactions has also increased, and a significant number of marketplaces are being operated. But, the current user authentication methods of NFT marketplaces are done only through the associated blockchain wallets. It is desirable that ownership transfer through NFT transactions be transparently managed based on a more reliable identity authentication service. NextAuction increases the reliability of auction service participants by transparently and consistently providing identity authentication for users of auction services based on the DID technique using the Klaytn blockchain. In addition, in preparation for server failure that may occur during the auction of individual content, it provides users with a robust auction service using the BR2K technique that continuously provides consistent service through the replication of a target service. The NextAuction service is developed by extending BCON, a blockchain-based content management service.

  • It is necessary to develop the next generation FTS which is suitable for our environment and effectively operates many launch vehicles. Standard tone, Secure tone, MHA, EFTS and DSSS are studied for the next generation FTS. FTS requires a high quality of performance and reliability because of their specific mission. And few FTSs are needed but the price is very expensive. Therefore we must investigate a part of the FTS whether the part can be reused for a part of the next FTS. In this paper, we use CCDF of the transmitted signal from FTS as the method to study a possibility of reusing HPA used in the present system. The simulation results show that PEP of Standard tone is 0.21dB and Secure tone and MHA has the same PEP. CPFSK's PEP is 1.81dB and PEP of DSSS using BPSK modulation is 2.6dB.
