강상형 철도교의 도상종류와 형고에 따른 동특성 및 안정성 연구 (Study on Dynamic Characteristic and Safety of 45m Steel Box Railway Bridge according to Girder hight and Ballast)

  • Railway bridges are highly susceptible to resonance due to the equidistant axle load with constant speed of train. Thus, it is inevitable verify dynamic characteristics and quantities against dynamic guidelines. Recently, various new-type bridges are developed and applies to medium span length between 30m and 40m. However, just steel box girder bridge is under review for span length between 45m and 50m without development any new technologies. This study investigate the dynamic properties and safety of steel box railway bridge having span length 45m in alternative girder hight and kind of ballast. Numerical analysis is performed time series analysis by mode superposition using calculated natural vibration frequency and mode after carry out a free vibration analysis and extract modal parameter to higher modes. The results are then compared to various dynamic stability standards toward target bridge's dynamic stability analysis. The result of this study is expected as a reference for design railway bridges.

제 5힘과 중성자성의 구조 (ON THE FIFTH FORCE AND THE STRUCTURE OF NEUTRON STAR)

  • 구성물질에 영향을 받는 제5힘이 존재할 경우 별의 특성과 구조를 중성자성을 대상으로 살펴보았다. 중성자만으로 이루어진 축퇴된 중성자성의 크기, 질량및 구조는 변형된 토마스-페르미 방정식의 해로서 계산할 수 있고, 제5힘이 없을 경우와 같이 새로운 중성자성의 크기, 질량 및 구조가 제5힘의 상수와 중력상수 $\alpha$에 영향을 받고 있음을 알았다. 극히 상대론적인 경우 새로운 중성자성의 특성 질량인 챤드라세카르 질량, $M_{ch}\simeq(1-\alpha)^{-3/2}{m_{pl}}^3/m^2$ 은 물리법칙의 상수만으로 결정되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 실험 결과의 한계안에서 새로운 중성자성의 크기와 질랴의 변화량은 각각 $\alpha$/2 와 3$\alpha$/2 정도였다.

  • This paper presents a systematic approach to the input-output data-based fuzzy modeling for the complex and uncertain nonlinear systems, in which the conventional mathematical models may fail to give the satisfying results. To do this, we propose a new method that can yield a successful fuzzy model using a mGA hybrid schemes with a fine-tuning method. We also propose a new coding method fo chromosome for applying the mGA to the structure and parameter identifications of fuzzy model simultaneously. During mGA search, multi-purpose fitness function with a penalty process is proposed and adapted to guarantee the accurate and valid fuzzy modes. This coding scheme can effectively represent the zero-order Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. The proposed mGA hybrid schemes can coarsely optimize the structure and the parameters of the fuzzy inference system, and then fine tune the identified fuzzy model by using the gradient descent method. In order to demonstrate the superiority and efficiency of the proposed scheme, we finally show its applications to two nonlinear systems.

밀링가공시의 채터현상 연구 (A study on the behaviors of chatter in milling operation)

  • In this study, the static and dynamic characteristics of endmilling process was modelled and the analytic realization of chatter mechanism was discussed. In this regard, We have discussed on the comparative assessment of recursive time series modeling algorithms that can represent the machining process and detect the abnormal machining behaviors in precision endmilling operation. In this study, simulation and experimental work were performed to show the malfunctional behaviors. For this purpose, new recursive least square method (RLSM) were adopted for the on-line system identification and monitoring of a machining process, we can apply these new algorithms in real process for detection of abnormal chatter. Also, The stability lobe of chatter was analysed by varying parameter of cutting dynamices in regenerative chatter mechanics.

Length-biased Rayleigh distribution: reliability analysis, estimation of the parameter, and applications

  • In this article, a new model based on the Rayleigh distribution is introduced. This model is useful and practical in physics, reliability, and life testing. The statistical and reliability properties of this model are presented, including moments, the hazard rate, the reversed hazard rate, and mean residual life functions, among others. In addition, it is shown that the distributions of the new model are ordered regarding the strongest likelihood ratio ordering. Four estimating methods, namely, method of moment, maximum likelihood method, Bayes estimation, and uniformly minimum variance unbiased, are used to estimate the parameters of this model. Simulation is used to calculate the estimates and to study their properties. Finally, the appropriateness of this model for real data sets is shown by using the chi-square goodness of fit test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov statistic.

HALO SPIN PARAMETER IN COSMOLOGICAL SIMULATIONS

  • Using a cosmological ${\Lambda}CDM$ simulation, we analyze the differences between the widely-used spin parameters suggested by Peebles and Bullock. The dimensionless spin parameter ${\lambda}$ proposed by Peebles is theoretically well-justified but includes an annoying term, the potential energy, which cannot be directly obtained from observations and is computationally expensive to calculate in numerical simulations. The Bullock's spin parameter ${\lambda}^{\prime}$ avoids this problem assuming the isothermal density profile of a virialized halo in the Newtonian potential model. However, we find that there exists a substantial discrepancy between ${\lambda}$ and ${\lambda}^{\prime}$ depending on the adopted potential model (Newtonian or Plummer) to calculate the halo total energy and that their redshift evolutions differ to each other significantly. Therefore, we introduce a new spin parameter, ${\lambda}^{\prime\prime}$, which is simply designed to roughly recover the value of ${\lambda}$ but to use the same halo quantities as used in ${\lambda}^{\prime}$. If the Plummer potential is adopted, the ${\lambda}^{\prime\prime}$ is related to the Bullock's definition as ${\lambda}^{\prime\prime}=0.80{\times}(1+z)^{-1/12}{\lambda}^{\prime}$. Hence, the new spin parameter ${\lambda}^{\prime\prime}$ distribution becomes consistent with a log-normal distribution frequently seen for the ${\lambda}^{\prime}$ while its mean value is much closer to that of ${\lambda}$. On the other hand, in case of the Newtonian potential model, we obtain the relation of ${\lambda}^{\prime\prime}=(1+z)^{-1/8}{\lambda}^{\prime}$; there is no significant difference at z = 0 as found by others but ${\lambda}^{\prime}$ becomes more overestimated than ${\lambda}$ or ${\lambda}^{\prime\prime}$ at higher redshifts. We also investigate the dependence of halo spin parameters on halo mass and redshift. We clearly show that although the ${\lambda}^{\prime}$ for small-mass halos with $M_h$ < $2{\times}10^{12}M_{\odot}$ seems redshift independent after z = 1, all the spin parameters explored, on the whole, show a stronger correlation with the increasing halo mass at higher redshifts.

Bayesian 기반 Multi-Segmented 곡선식을 활용한 수위-유량 곡선의 불확실성 분석 (A development of rating-curve using Bayesian Multi-Segmented model)

  • 수위-유량 관계곡선(rating curve)은 수위표에서 관측된 수위 및 유량을 이용하여 만들어진 회귀분석식을 의미하며, 하천의 수위를 유량으로 환산하는 방법으로 일반적으로 활용되고 있다. 그러나 수위-유량 관계곡선식에서 저수위와 고수위와 분리 및 매개변수 추정에 있어 불확실성을 고려한 해석은 이루어지지 않고 있다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구에서는 수위-유량 관계곡선식에서 매개변수 추정 및 저 고수위 분리시 발생하는 문제점을 개선하기 위해 Bayesian 기법을 도입하였으며, 수위-유량 관계곡선식의 매개변수의 추정과 더불어 불확실성을 정량화 하는데 목적을 두었다. 이와 더불어 Bayesian 모형 기반 Multi-Segmented 수위-유량 관계곡선(Bayesian M-S)을 활용하여 저 고수위를 분리할 수 있는 새로운 수위-유량 관계곡선을 개발하고 기존 수위-유량 관계곡선과 비교 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 본 연구에서 개발한 Bayesian M-S 기법이 기존 수위-유량 관계곡선식 보다 개선된 결과를 도출할 수 있었으며, 수위-유량 관계곡선식의 신뢰구간을 제시하는데 유리한 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Hydrophilic Modification of Poly(ethylene oxide) by UV Irradiation

  • Films of Poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, were modified to impart hydrophilicity via UV irradiation. The UV irradiation treatment produced new photo-oxidized groups of carbonyl and ether groups as indicated in ATR and ESCA analysis. It was found that water contact angle decreased from $15^{\circ}C$ to $10^{\circ}C$ and total surface energy of PEO increased from 54.2 mN/m to 76.6 mN/m with increasing UV energy, which was attributed to significant contribution of acid base interaction of the photo-oxidized PEO rather than nonpolar interaction originating from the dominant increase in Lewis acid parameter. The increased hydrophilicity and surface energy were also proved by the decreased water wetting time.

극저탄소강의 Mash Seam TB 용접성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Weldability Criteria of Mash Seam Tailored Blank Welds in the Ultra-low Carbon Steel Applied on Automotive Body)

  • M/S TB(Mash Seam Tailored Blank) is a production method for blanks by welding together blanks of different material, thickness and coating, and is an attractive method for manufacturing car body because it makes parts lighter and can save the cost and time to manufacture. However, there have not been quantified criteria to evaluate the quality of TB weld. This study introduced FHR (failure height ratio) in order to assess formability or/and weldability of the M/S welds and the applicability of FHR was confirmed by actual auto body forming and FLD tests. Furthermore, a new parameter, HN(heat number) based on the heat input of "$Q=I^2Rt$" was proposed and assessed. It was found that the concept of HN could be utilized to evaluate the soundness of M/S welds without any destructive tests.ive tests.

A Note on Determining Confidence Level in Reliability Test for Assuring Bx-Life

  • In this paper, we consider the problem of determining the confidence level in zero-failure reliability sampling plans when the life distribution is Weibull distribution with a shape parameter m and a scale parameter ${\eta}$. We introduce zero-failure reliability sampling plans for Weibull distribution and investigate some characteristics of zero-failure reliability sampling plans. Finally, We propose new guideline for determining the confidence level in zero-failure reliability sampling plans for assuring $B_x-life$.
