Reinforcement learning is considered as an important tool for robotic learning in unknown/uncertain environments. In this paper, we propose an evaluation function expressed in a vector form to realize multi-dimensional reinforcement learning. The novel feature of the proposed method is that learning one behavior induces parallel learning of other behaviors though the objectives of each behavior are different. In brief, all behaviors watch other behaviors from a critical point of view. Therefore, in the proposed method, there is cross-criticism and parallel learning that make the multi-dimensional learning process more efficient. By ap-plying the proposed learning method, we carried out multi-dimensional evaluation (reward) and multi-dimensional learning simultaneously in one trial. A special neural network (Q-net), in which the weights and the output are represented by vectors, is proposed to realize a critic net-work for Q-learning. The proposed learning method is applied for behavior planning of mobile robots.
Deep learning networks like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) show successful performances in many computer vision applications such as image classification, object detection, and so on. For implementation of deep learning networks in embedded system with limited processing power and memory, deep learning network may need to be simplified. However, simplified deep learning network cannot learn every possible scene. One realistic strategy for embedded deep learning network is to construct a simplified deep learning network model optimized for the scene images of the installation place. Then, automatic training will be necessitated for commercialization. In this paper, as an intermediate step toward automatic training under fisheye camera environments, we study more precise human localization in fisheye images, and propose an accurate human localization method, Automatic Ground-Truth Labelling Method (AGTLM). AGTLM first localizes candidate human object bounding boxes by utilizing GoogLeNet-LSTM approach, and after reassurance process by GoogLeNet-based CNN network, finally refines them more correctly and precisely(tightly) by applying saliency object detection technique. The performance improvement of the proposed human localization method, AGTLM with respect to accuracy and tightness is shown through several experiments.

Deep learning is an advanced technology for large-scale data analysis, with numerous promising cases like image processing, object detection and significantly more. It becomes customarily to use transfer learning and fine-tune a pre-trained CNN model for most image recognition tasks. Having people taking photos and tag themselves provides a valuable resource of in-data. However, these tags and labels might be noisy as people who annotate these images might not be experts. This paper aims to explore the impact of noisy labels on fine-tuning pre-trained CNN models. Such effect is measured on a food recognition task using Food101 as a benchmark. Four pre-trained CNN models are included in this study: InceptionV3, VGG19, MobileNetV2 and DenseNet121. Symmetric label noise will be added with different ratios. In all cases, models based on DenseNet121 outperformed the other models. When noisy labels were introduced to the data, the performance of all models degraded almost linearly with the amount of added noise.

The optimized design of airfoils is essential to increase the performance and efficiency of wind turbines. The aerodynamic characteristics of airfoils near the stall show large deviation from experiments and numerical simulations. Hence, it is needed to perform repetitive analysis of various shapes near the stall. To overcome this, the artificial intelligence is used and combined with numerical simulations. In this study, three types of airfoils are chosen, which are S809, S822 and SD7062 used in wind turbines. A convolutional neural network model is proposed in the combination of VGG16 and U-Net. Learning data are constructed by extracting pressure fields and aerodynamic characteristics through numerical analysis of 2D shape. Based on these data, the pressure field and lift coefficient of untrained airfoils are predicted. As a result, even in untrained airfoils, the pressure field is accurately predicted with an error of within 0.04%.
Manual inspection of steel box girders on long span bridges is time-consuming and labor-intensive. The quality of inspection relies on the subjective judgements of the inspectors. This study proposes an automated approach to detect and segment cracks in high-resolution images. An end-to-end cascaded framework is proposed to first detect the existence of cracks using a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) and then segment the crack using a modified U-Net encoder-decoder architecture. A Naïve Bayes data fusion scheme is proposed to reduce the false positives and false negatives effectively. To generate the binary crack mask, first, the original images are divided into 448 × 448 overlapping image patches where these image patches are classified as cracks versus non-cracks using a deep CNN. Next, a modified U-Net is trained from scratch using only the crack patches for segmentation. A customized loss function that consists of binary cross entropy loss and the Dice loss is introduced to enhance the segmentation performance. Additionally, a Naïve Bayes fusion strategy is employed to integrate the crack score maps from different overlapping crack patches and to decide whether a pixel is crack or not. Comprehensive experiments have demonstrated that the proposed approach achieves an 81.71% mean intersection over union (mIoU) score across 5 different training/test splits, which is 7.29% higher than the baseline reference implemented with the original U-Net.
This study tested SVM(support vector machine), RF(random forest), and ANN(artificial neural network) machine-learning models that can predict net irrigation water requirements in paddy fields. For the Jeonju and Jeongeup meteorological stations, the net irrigation water requirement was calculated using K-HAS from 1981 to 2021 and set as the label. For each algorithm, twelve models were constructed based on cumulative precipitation, precipitation, crop evapotranspiration, and month. Compared to the CE model, the R2 of the CEP model was higher, and MAE, RMSE, and MSE were lower. Comprehensively considering learning performance and learning time, it is judged that the RF algorithm has the best usability and predictive power of five-days is better than three-days. The results of this study are expected to provide the scientific information necessary for the decision-making of on-site water managers is expected to be possible through the connection with weather forecast data. In the future, if the actual amount of irrigation and supply are measured, it is necessary to develop a learning model that reflects this.
This study applied deep convolution neural network based on U-Net and SegNet using long period weather radar data to very short-term rainfall prediction. And the results were compared and evaluated with the translation model. For training and validation of deep neural network, Mt. Gwanak and Mt. Gwangdeoksan radar data were collected from 2010 to 2016 and converted to a gray-scale image file in an HDF5 format with a 1km spatial resolution. The deep neural network model was trained to predict precipitation after 10 minutes by using the four consecutive radar image data, and the recursive method of repeating forecasts was applied to carry out lead time 60 minutes with the pretrained deep neural network model. To evaluate the performance of deep neural network prediction model, 24 rain cases in 2017 were forecast for rainfall up to 60 minutes in advance. As a result of evaluating the predicted performance by calculating the mean absolute error (MAE) and critical success index (CSI) at the threshold of 0.1, 1, and 5 mm/hr, the deep neural network model showed better performance in the case of rainfall threshold of 0.1, 1 mm/hr in terms of MAE, and showed better performance than the translation model for lead time 50 minutes in terms of CSI. In particular, although the deep neural network prediction model performed generally better than the translation model for weak rainfall of 5 mm/hr or less, the deep neural network prediction model had limitations in predicting distinct precipitation characteristics of high intensity as a result of the evaluation of threshold of 5 mm/hr. The longer lead time, the spatial smoothness increase with lead time thereby reducing the accuracy of rainfall prediction The translation model turned out to be superior in predicting the exceedance of higher intensity thresholds (> 5 mm/hr) because it preserves distinct precipitation characteristics, but the rainfall position tends to shift incorrectly. This study are expected to be helpful for the improvement of radar rainfall prediction model using deep neural networks in the future. In addition, the massive weather radar data established in this study will be provided through open repositories for future use in subsequent studies.
In this paper, we propose a method that reduces mobile user's handover call dropping probability by using cognitive radio technology(CR) in cellular - based wireless cognitive radio networks. The proposed method predicts a cell to visit by Ziv-Lempel algorithm, and then supports mobile user with prediction of spectrum holes based on CR technology when allocated channels are short in the cell. We make neural network predict spectrum hole resources, and make handover calls use the resources before initial calls. Simulation results show CR technology has the capability to reduce mobile user handover call dropping probability in cellular mobile communication networks.
Classification is widely used in medical images to categorize patients and non-patients. However, conventional classification requires a complex procedure, including some rigid steps such as pre-processing, segmentation, feature extraction, detection, and classification. In this paper, we propose a novel convolutional neural network (CNN), called LeukemiaNet, to specifically classify two different types of leukemia, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and non-cancerous patients. To extend the limited dataset, a PCA color augmentation process is utilized before images are input into the LeukemiaNet. This augmentation method enhances the accuracy of our proposed CNN architecture from 96.9% to 97.2% for distinguishing ALL, AML, and normal cell images.

Every neural network has some kind of feedback. For the sake of analyzing fundamental aspects of information processing in neural nets, a net without feedbacks is an important theoretical model. But here we focus on a recurrent neural net which delay synapses as a realistic dynamical model of nervous systems. Synaptic connections are determined by a version of the Hebb rule (correlation type rule). We use a statistical neurodynamic method to explain the retrieval dynamics of the network. The result of the analysis for the sequential associativ e memory with delay synapses is compared with computer simulation. We have succeeded in explaining the dynamics of this network by theoretical analyses.
