Anglicisms in the Field of Information Technology: Analysis of Linguistic Features

  • The role that English currently plays is undeniable. It has become the most common means of communication among native speakers of several languages around the world. English penetrates into all areas of people's daily lives. In the field of Information Technology (IT), English has taken a dominant position, as many of the terms used on a daily basis are written in English. The purpose of the article is to analyze the linguistic features of anglicisms in the field of Information Technology. Methods. The research is based on systematic and comparative analysis, dialectical method, as well as methods of classification and generalization. Results. This study presents the results of compiling a multilingual glossary with anglicisms used in the GitHub and 3D Slicer fields. Despite the limited number of terms included in the glossary, the article provides a lot of evidence for the influence of the English language in the areas of Information Technology, GitHub and 3D Slicer under consideration. The types of anglicisms used in the 3D Slicer area seem to be more diverse than in the GitHub area. This study found that five European languages use language strategies to solve any communication problem. The multilingual glossary showed that in some cases there is a coexistence between Anglicism and the native term. In other cases, the English term is the only one used in different languages. There are cases when only the native language is used. Conclusions. This study is a useful tool that helps to improve the efficiency of communication between engineers and technicians who speak different native languages. The ultimate goal of this research will be to create a multilingual glossary that is still under development and is likely to cover other IT areas such as Python and VTK.

Network Capacity Design in the local Communication and Computer Network for Consumer Portal System (전력수용가포털을 위한 구내 통신 및 컴퓨터 네트워크 용량 설계)

  • Consumer Portal is defined as "a combination of hardware and software that enables two-way communication between energy service provider(ESP, like KEPCO) and equipment within the consumer's premises". The portal provides both a physical link(between wires, radio waves, and other media) and a logical link(translating among language-like codes and etiquette-like protocols) between in-building and wide-area access networks. Thus, the consumer portal is an important, open public shared infrastructure in the future vision of energy services. In this paper, we describe a new methodology for local communication and computer network capacity design of consumer portal, and also presents capacity calculation method using a network system limitation factors. By the approach, we can check into the limitations of existing methods, and propose an improved data processing algorithm that can expand the maximum number of the networked end-use devices up to $30{\sim}40$ times. For validation, we applies the proposed methode to our real system design. Our contribution will help electrical power information network design.

  • Various researches have been studied on WSN(wireless sensor network) for barbed wire entanglements surveillance applications such as industry facilities, security area, prison, military area, airport, etc. Currently, barbed wire entanglements surveillance is formed wire sensor network environment. Traditional wire sensor network guarantee high data transmission rate. Therefore, wire sensor network use fast fourier transform of data of high transmission rate for extraction of feature parameter. However, wireless sensor network in comparison with wire sensor network has very low data transmission rate. Therefore, wireless sensor network doesn't use fast fourier transform of wire sensor network for extraction of feature parameter. In this paper, proposed method use 1 level approximation coefficient of DTW(dynamic time-warped) algorithms based on DWT(discrete wavelet transform) for extraction of detection feature parameter and classification feature parameter for barbed wire entanglements surveillance. l level approximation coefficient have time information and frequency information of signal. Therefore, Dynamic time-warped algorithms based on discrete wavelet transform improve detection and classification of target rather than using energy of signal.

  • USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) is a core infrastructure that u-life use to enable the realization in the ubiquitous society through various services of area such as u-city, u-Health. Therefore, we need a research for domestic standards to establish USN technique. Currently, status of USN standards is most standard and research that it is a technology for sensor node implementation and a protocol for energy-efficient communication and interlock with existing network. But, Standard and research for sensor network and integration management of heterogeneous sensor networks for USN application and sensing data management and USN database structure definition such as application and middleware is weak level. In this paper, we researched for standard development of domestic a sensor network and the relevant standard analysis to configure SWE(Sensor Web Enablement) of OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) for standarded plattform technology. Also we researched that it's a connection between domestic ITA(Telecommunications Technology Association) standards and SWE Standard.

A Node Deployment Strategy Considering Environmental Factors and the Number of Nodes in Surveillance and Reconnaissance Sensor Network (감시정찰 센서네트워크에서 환경요소와 노드수량을 고려한 노드 배치 전략)

  • In the area of wireless sensor networks, sensor coverage and network connectivity problems are caused by a limited detection range and the communication distance of the nodes. To solve the coverage and connectivity problems, many studies are suggested, but most research is restricted to apply into the real environment because they didn't consider various environmental factors on wireless sensor network deployment. So in this paper, we propose a node deployment strategy considering environmental factors and the number of nodes in surveillance and reconnaissance sensor networks(SRSN). The proposed node deployment method divides the installation of the surveillance and reconnaissance sensor networks system into four steps such as identification of influences factors for node placement through IPB process, sensor node deployment based on sensing range, selection of monitoring site, and relay node deployment based on RF communication range. And it deploys the sensor nodes and relay nodes considered the features of the surveillance and reconnaissance sensor network system and environmental factors. The result of simulation indicates that the proposed node deployment method improves sensor coverage and network connectivity.

  • In this paper, we propose a new optical switching system as a infrastructure of the BcN, in which the high traffic volume will be expected due to the multimedia service, like P2P services. Because the JET protocol, the most popular protocol in OBS (Optical Burst Switching) research area, has high blocking probability for burst, it prevents commercialization in real network for its low throughput in TCP layer. To improve high blocking rate in OBS network, we segment large network into small network and perform burst scheduling to avoid burst loss. By using proposed scheme, Internet provider can reduce network deployment cost in Metro network as well as large mesh core networks

  • Home networks consist of two or more home appliances or communication devices enabling the mutual data communication between appliances such as personal computers, refrigerators, phones, television sets, personal digital assistants(PDA), etc. There are three factors that create demand for the home network services. The first factor is development of technology. Second, on the demand side, consumer demand for the home appliances having access to the Internet is in the increase. Finally, producers need a strategy to deal with the problem of market saturation. Home networks are emerging markets. They are unique in that they unite information technologies with home appliances that provide new services. in this paper we study the main attributes of home network services and analyze consumers' preferences for them. However, it is not quite possible to use the revealed preference approach since the home network market is still at an incipient stage. We therefore use the conjoint analysis method using stated preference data. conjoint analysis has been widely use in the area of marketing for evaluating consumer preferences for new products and services. it presents a hypothetical product to the respondents along with the product's attributes and their levels. The respondents are asked to either rank each alternative or choose between several hypothetical products. By estimating consumers' willingness to pay for the attributes of the home network services and analyzing consumers' preferences, we predict the pattern of the development of the home network services and related technologies along various quality dimensions. Based on the estimation results, we draw policy implications for the national- and company-level strategy.

Performance Evaluation of Interconnection Network in Microservers (마이크로서버의 내부 연결망 성능평가)

  • A microserver is a type of a computing server, in which two or more CPU nodes are implemented on a separate computing board, and a plurality of computing boards are integrated on a main board. In building a cluster system, the microserver has advantages in several points such as energy efficiency, area occupied, and ease of management compared to the existing method of mounting legacy servers in multiple racks. In addition, since the microserver uses a fast interconnection network between CPU nodes, performance improvement for data transfers is expected. The proposed microserver can mount a total of 16 computing boards with 4 CPU nodes on the main board, and uses Serial-RapidIO (SRIO) as an interconnection network. In order to analyze the performance of the proposed microserver in terms of the interconnection network which is a core performance issue of the microserver, we compare and quantify the performance of commercial microservers. As a result of the test, it showed up to about 7 times higher bandwidth improvement when transmitting data using the interconnection network. In addition, with CloudSuite benchmark programs used in actual cloud computing, maximum 60% reduction in execution time was obtained compared to commercial microservers with similar CPU performance specification.

  • In this paper, we propose a cooperative protocol of relay-based WUSB/DRD and WLP device in WSS of ship area WiMedia environment. For this purpose, we investigate a RNT table configuration and algorithm of RNS relay node used in relay-based cooperative communication. Then, we describe a device that makes up WLP network and propose a cooperative protocol for WUSB/DRD/WLP device communication. The proposed cooperative protocol can communicate with WUSB/DRD/WLP devices by using standard DRP reservation and WUSB DRP reservation.

  • LPWA (Low Power Wide Area) networks have been considered as one of the technologies which can be implemented in IoT (Internet of Things) applications by providing less power and longer communication range compared with existing wireless technologies. In this paper, we investigate LoRa which is one of representative technologies for LPWA networks. First, we present general properties and several technologies of LPWA networks. Then, the technical specification, properties, and pros/cons of LoRa are studied. Finally, we discuss analysis of LoRa's performance and its ehancement technologies by focusing on physical layer and MAC (Medium Access Control) layer.
