In this rarer, we introduce a new Fuzzy Polynomial Neural Networks (FPNNs)-like structure whose neuron is based on the Fuzzy Set-based Fuzzy Inference System (FS-FIS) and is different from that of FPNNs based on the Fuzzy relation-based Fuzzy Inference System (FR-FIS) and discuss the ability of the new FPNNs-like structurenamed Fuzzy Set-based Polynomial Neural Networks (FSPNN). The premise parts of their fuzzy rules are not identical, while the consequent parts of the both Networks (such as FPNN and FSPNN) are identical. This difference results from the angle of a viewpoint of partition of input space of system. In other word, from a point of view of FS-FIS, the input variables are mutually independent under input space of system, while from a viewpoint of FR-FIS they are related each other. In considering the structures of FPNN-like networks such as FPNN and FSPNN, they are almost similar. Therefore they have the same shortcomings as well as the same virtues on structural side. The proposed design procedure for networks' architecture involves the selection of appropriate nodes with specific local characteristics such as the number of input variables, the order of the polynomial that is constant, linear, quadratic, or modified quadratic functions being viewed as the consequent part of fuzzy rules, and a collection of the specific subset of input variables. On the parameter optimization phase, we adopt Information Granulation (IG) based on HCM clustering algorithm and a standard least square method-based learning. Through the consecutive process of such structural and parametric optimization, an optimized and flexible fuzzy neural network is generated in a dynamic fashion. To evaluate the performance of the genetically optimized FSPNN (gFSPNN), the model is experimented with using gas furnace process dataset.

This paper discusses the prediction of deforestation areas using probability models from forest census database, Geographic information system (GIS) database and the land cover database. The land cover data was analyzed using remotely-sensed (RS) data of the Landsat TM data from 1989 to 2001. Over the analysis period of 12 years, the deforestation area was about 40ha. Most of the deforestation areas were attributable to road construction and residential development activities. About 80% of the deforestation areas for residential development were found within 100m of the road network. More than 20% of the deforestation areas for forest road construction were within 100m of the road network. Geographic factors and vegetation change detection (VCD) factors were used in probability models to construct deforestation occurrence map. We examined the size effect of area partition as training area and validation area for the probability models. The Bayes model provided a better deforestation prediction rate than that of the regression model.
Due to the rapid increase of electricity demand, consideration of environmental constraints in optimal power flow (OPF) problems is increasingly important. In Algeria, up to 90% of electricity is produced by thermal generators (vapor, gas). In order to keep the emission of gaseous pollutants like sulfur dioxide (SO2) and Nitrogen (NO2) under the admissible ecological limits, many conventional and global optimization methods have been proposed to study the trade-off relation between fuel cost and emissions. This paper presents an efficient decomposed Parallel GA to solve the multi-objective environmental/economic dispatch problem. At the decomposed stage the length of the original chromosome is reduced successively and adapted to the topology of the new partition. Two subproblems are proposed: the first subproblem is related to the active power planning to minimize the total fuel cost, and the second subproblem is a reactive power planning design based in practical rules to make fine corrections to the voltage deviation and reactive power violation using a specified number of shunt dynamic compensators named Static Var Compensators (SVC). To validate the robustness of the proposed approach, the algorithm proposed was tested on the Algerian 59-bus network test and compared with conventional methods and with global optimization methods (GA, FGA, and ACO). The results show that the approach proposed can converge to the near solution and obtain a competitive solution at a critical situation and within a reasonable time.

Given a linear arrangement of n base stations which generate multiple types of traffic among themselves, we consider the problem of finding a set of disjoint clusters to cover n base statons so that a cluster is assigned a location server. Our goal is to minimize the total communication cost for the entire network where the cost of intra-cluster communication is usually lower than that of intercluster communication for each type of traffic. The optimization problem is transformed into an equivavalent problem using the concept of relative cost, which generates the difference of communication costs between intracluster and intercluster communications. Using the relative cost matrix, an efficient algorithm of O($mm^2$), where m is the number of clusters in a partition, is designed by dynamic programming. The algorithm also finds all thevalid partitions in the same polynomial time, given the size constraint on a cluster, and the total allowable communication cost for the entire network.
In this paper We describe an algorithm which is devised for 4he partition o# the input space and the generation of fuzzy rules by the fuzzy entropy and tested with the time series prediction problem using Mackey-Glass chaotic time series. This method divides the input space into several fuzzy regions and assigns a degree of each of the generated rules for the partitioned subspaces from the given data using the Shannon function and fuzzy entropy function generating the optimal knowledge base without the irrelevant rules. In this scheme the basic idea of the fuzzy neural network is to realize the fuzzy rules base and the process of reasoning by neural network and to make the corresponding parameters of the fuzzy control rules be adapted by the steepest descent algorithm. The Proposed algorithm has been naturally derived by means of the synergistic combination of the approximative approach and the descriptive approach. Each output of the rule's consequences has expressed with its connection weights in order to minimize the system parameters and reduce its complexities.

The scale of graph data has been increased rapidly because of the growth of mobile Internet applications and the proliferation of social network services. This brings upon the imminent necessity of efficient distributed and parallel graph processing approach since the size of these large-scale graphs are easily over a capacity of a single machine. Currently, there are two popular parallel graph processing approaches, vertex-centric graph processing and block centric processing. While a vertex-centric graph processing approach can easily be applied to the parallel processing system, a block-centric graph processing approach is proposed to compensate the drawbacks of the vertex-centric approach. In these systems, the initial quality of graph partition affects to the overall performance significantly. However, it is a very difficult problem to divide the graph into optimal states at the initial phase. Thus, several dynamic load balancing techniques have been studied that suggest the progressive partitioning during the graph processing time. In this paper, we present a load balancing algorithms for the block-centric graph processing approach where most of dynamic load balancing techniques are focused on vertex-centric systems. Our proposed algorithm focus on an improvement of the graph partition quality by dynamically reassigning blocks in runtime, and suggests block split strategy for escaping local optimum solution.
Various studies are being conducted to achieve efficient routing and reduce energy consumption in wireless sensor networks where energy replacement is difficult. Among routing mechanisms, the clustering technique has been known to be most efficient. The clustering technique consists of the elements of cluster construction and data transmission. The elements that construct a cluster are repeated in regular intervals in order to equalize energy consumption among sensor nodes in the cluster. The algorithms for selecting a cluster head node and arranging cluster member nodes optimized for the cluster head node are complex and requires high energy consumption. Furthermore, energy consumption for the data transmission elements is proportional to $d^2$ and $d^4$ around the crossover region. This paper proposes a means of reducing energy consumption by increasing the efficiency of the cluster construction elements that are regularly repeated in the cluster technique. The proposed approach maintains the number of sensor nodes in a cluster at a constant level by equally partitioning the region where nodes with density considerations will be allocated in cluster construction, and reduces energy consumption by selecting head nodes near the center of the cluster. It was confirmed through simulation experiments that the proposed approach consumes less energy than the LEACH algorithm.

In this paper, we introduce a design methodology of data-centroid Radial Basis Function neural networks with extended polynomial function. The two underlying design mechanisms of such networks involve K-means clustering method and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO). The proposed algorithm is based on K-means clustering method for efficient processing of data and the optimization of model was carried out using PSO. In this paper, as the connection weight of RBF neural networks, we are able to use four types of polynomials such as simplified, linear, quadratic, and modified quadratic. Using K-means clustering, the center values of Gaussian function as activation function are selected. And the PSO-based RBF neural networks results in a structurally optimized structure and comes with a higher level of flexibility than the one encountered in the conventional RBF neural networks. The PSO-based design procedure being applied at each node of RBF neural networks leads to the selection of preferred parameters with specific local characteristics (such as the number of input variables, a specific set of input variables, and the distribution constant value in activation function) available within the RBF neural networks. To evaluate the performance of the proposed data-centroid RBF neural network with extended polynomial function, the model is experimented with using the nonlinear process data(2-Dimensional synthetic data and Mackey-Glass time series process data) and the Machine Learning dataset(NOx emission process data in gas turbine plant, Automobile Miles per Gallon(MPG) data, and Boston housing data). For the characteristic analysis of the given entire dataset with non-linearity as well as the efficient construction and evaluation of the dynamic network model, the partition of the given entire dataset distinguishes between two cases of Division I(training dataset and testing dataset) and Division II(training dataset, validation dataset, and testing dataset). A comparative analysis shows that the proposed RBF neural networks produces model with higher accuracy as well as more superb predictive capability than other intelligent models presented previously.

The selection of classification boundaries in fuzzy rule- based classification systems is an important and difficult problem. So various methods based on learning processes such as neural network, genetic algorithm, and so on have been proposed for it. In a previous study, we pointed out the limitation of the methods and discussed a method for fuzzy partitioning in the overlapped region on feature space in order to overcome the time-consuming when the additional parameters for tuning fuzzy membership functions are necessary. In this paper, we propose a method to determine three types of classification boundaries(i.e., non-overlapping, overlapping, and a boundary point) on the basis of statistical information of the given dataset without learning by extending the method described in the study. Finally, we show the effectiveness of the proposed method through experimental results applied to pattern classification problems using the modified IRIS and standard IRIS datasets.

As the spread of mobile devices equipped with various sensors and high-quality wireless network communications functionsexpands, the amount of spatio-temporal data generated from mobile devices in various service fields is rapidly increasing. In conventional research into processing a large amount of real-time spatio-temporal streams, it is very difficult to apply a Hadoop-based spatial big data system, designed to be a batch processing platform, to a real-time service for spatio-temporal data streams. This paper extends the MapReduce online framework to support real-time query processing for continuous-input, spatio-temporal data streams, and proposes a load management method to distribute overloads for efficient query processing. The proposed scheme shows a dynamic load balancing method for the nodes based on the inflow rate and the load factor of the input data based on the space partition. Experiments show that it is possible to support efficient query processing by distributing the spatial data stream in the corresponding area to the shared resources when load management in a specific area is required.
