  • Let $\{(X_{ni}|1{\leq}i{\leq}n,\;n{\geq}1)\}$ be an array of rowwise negatively associated random variables. In this paper we discuss $n^{{\alpha}p-2}h(n)max_{1{\leq}k{\leq}n}|{\sum}_{i=1}^kX_{ni}|/n^{\alpha}{\rightarrow}0$ completely as $n{\rightarrow}{\infty}$ under not necessarily identically distributed with suitable conditions for ${\alpha}$>1/2, 0${\alpha}p{\geq}1$ and a slowly varying function h(x)>0 as $x{\rightarrow}{\infty}$. In addition, we obtain the complete convergence of moving average process based on negative association random variables which extends the result of Zhang (1996).

  • Let{$X_{ni}$\mid$\;1\;{\leq}\;i\;{\leq}\;k_n,\;n\;{\geq}\;1$} be an array of rowwise negatively associated random variables such that $P$\mid$X_{ni}$\mid$\;>\;x)\;=\;O(1)P($\mid$X$\mid$\;>\;x)$ for all $x\;{\geq}\;0,\;and\; \{k_n\}\;and\;\{r_n\}$ be two sequences such that $r_n\;{\geq}\;b_1n^r,\;k_n\;{\leq}\;b_2n^k$ for some $b_1,\;b_2,\;r,\;k\;>\;0$. Then it is shown that $\frac{1}{r_n}\;max_1$\mid${\Sigma_{i=1}}^j\;X_{ni}$\mid$\;{\rightarrow}\;0$ completely convergence and the strong convergence for weighted sums of N A arrays is also considered.

  • Let {$X_n$, n ${\ge}$ 1} be a negatively associated sequence of identically distributed random variables with mean zeros and positive finite variances. Set $S_n$ = ${\Sigma}^n_{i=1}\;X_i$. Suppose that 0 < ${\sigma}^2=EX^2_1+2{\Sigma}^{\infty}_{i=2}\;Cov(X_1,\;X_i)$ < ${\infty}$. We prove that, if $EX^2_1(log^+{\mid}X_1{\mid})^{\delta}$ < ${\infty}$ for any 0< ${\delta}{\le}1$, then $\lim_{{\epsilon}\downarrow0}{\epsilon}^{2{\delta}}\sum_{{n=2}}^{\infty}\frac{(logn)^{\delta-1}}{n^2}ES^2_nI({\mid}S_n{\mid}\geq{\epsilon}{\sigma}\sqrt{nlogn}=\frac{E{\mid}N{\mid}^{2\delta+2}}{\delta}$, where N is the standard normal random variable. We also prove that if $S_n$ is replaced by $M_n=max_{1{\le}k{\le}n}{\mid}S_k{\mid}$ then the precise rate still holds. Some results in Fu and Zhang (2007) are improved to the complete moment case.

  • Let {$X_n$, $n\;{\in}\;\mathbb{Z}_+^d$} be a field of identically distributed and negatively associated random variables with mean zero and set $S_n\;=\;{\sum}_{k{\leq}n}\;X_k$, $n\;{\in}\;\mathbb{Z}_+^d$, $d\;{\geq}\;2$. We investigate precise asymptotics for ${\sum}_n|n|^{r/p-2}P(|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\epsilon}|n|^{1/p}$ and ${\sum}_n\;\frac{(\log\;|n|)^{\delta}}{|n|}P(|S_n|\;{\geq}\;{\epsilon}\;\sqrt{|n|\log|n|)}$, ($0\;{\leq}\;{\delta}\;{\leq}\;1$) as ${\epsilon}{\searrow}0$.

  • Let {X$\_$n/, n$\geq$1] be a stationary sequence of negatively associated random variables with distribution function F(x)=P(X$_1$$\leq$x). The empirical distribution function F$\_$n/(x) based on X$_1$, X$_2$,....., X$\_$n/ is proposed as an estimator for F$\_$n/(x). Strong consistency and asymptotic normality of F$\_$n/(x) are studied. We also apply these ideas to estimation of the survival function.

  • Let {X/sun ni/ | 1 ≤ i ≤ n, n ≥ 1 } be an array of rowwise negatively associated random variables. We in this paper discuss the conditions of n/sup -1/p/ (equation omitted) →0 completely as n → ∞ for some 1 ≤ p < 2 under not necessarily identically distributed setting. As application, it is obtained that n/sup -1/p/ (equation omitted) →0 completely as n → ∞ if and only if E|X/sub 11/|/sup 2p/ < ∞ and EX/sub ni=0 under identically distributed case such that the corresponding results on i. i. d. case are extended and the strong convergence for weighted sums of rowwise negatively associated arrays is also considered.

  • Let {$X_n,\;n{\ge}1$} be a sequence of negatively associated random variables which are dominated randomly by another random variable. We discuss the limit properties of weighted sums ${\Sigma}^n_{i=1}a_{ni}X_i$ under some appropriate conditions, where {$a_{ni},\;1{\le}\;i\;{\le}\;n,\;n\;{\ge}\;1$} is an array of constants. As corollary, the results of Bai and Cheng (2000) and Sung (2001) are extended from the i.i.d. case to not necessarily identically distributed negatively associated setting. The corresponding results of Chow and Lai (1973) also are extended.

  • This study was designed to investigate the relationship between the nutrient intakes, antioxidants, and inflammatory markers of overweight and obese adults (46 females and 16 males) in Yeongdong area. The study was conducted through questionnaires, anthropometric checkups, 2-day 24 hr recalls and blood biomarker analyses. Body fat was significantly higher in women compared to men. Diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and systolic blood pressure (SBP) were significantly higher in men compared to women. There were no significant differences in height, weight, body mass index, and waist size among the two groups. The intake of nutrients was significantly higher in men compared to women. Ferric reducing ability plasma (FRAP) was significantly higher in men compared to women. Body fat was positively associated with blood IL-6 and IL-8 levels. DBP was positively associated with FRAP. The intake of protein was negatively associated with IL-6 levels. The intake of carbohydrates was negatively associated with total antioxidant capacity (TAC). Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) levels were negatively associated with TAC. These results suggest that antioxidant and inflammatory markers may be related to the body fat percentage and dietary intake in overweight and obese adults.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between sociometric popularity (like-most nomination and like-least nomination) and perceived popularity (most-popular nomination and least-popular nomination ) and to examine the relationships between adolescent aggression (overt, relational, and not prosocial behavior) and each of the popularities. The 377 subjects were selected from first and second graders of middle and high schools. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Sociometric popularity is significantly correlated with least-popular nomination, but not with most-popular nomination. 2) Adolescent aggression is negatively correlated with socimetric popularity, but positively associated with perceived popularity. 3) Sociometric popularity is negatively associated with aggression for only girls, but perceived popularity is positively associated with aggression for both boys and girls. 4) Sociometric popularity is negatively associated with aggression for only middle school students, but perceived popularity is positively associated with aggression for both middle and high students.
